MADDISON
I wake up screaming from a nightmare, Chase isn't here did I imagine him last night?
" Hey, hey baby it's okay"
I look to the door and he is walking in the room
" Chase"
I jump up and wrap around him
" Shhh, I'm right here baby. Straten woke up"
I look up at him and he picks me up kissing me
" I'm not going anywhere Maddi"
" I.. I thought"
He kisses me again
" I know baby, I know"
He carries me to the bed and lays me down laying beside me and turning me toward him. He tangles us together where our faces our inches apart.
" Don't let go Chase I need you"
He pulls me impossibly closer
" I'm not going anywhere Maddi, ever"
I lean my lips to his locking us in a never ending kiss. I never want it to end I never want to leave this bed. I didn't know safety could be in one person until he hugged me last night. He is my safety, the only thing I have wishes for the last 4 and a half months and I finally have him.
He breaks away from our kiss and we both gasp for air
" Maddi, please tell me this is real"
" I don't know what's real anymore Chase, but I do know I can't stop and I can't let you go"
He smiles and pecks me again
" Same here baby"
I move myself cuddling into his neck and he flips on his chest. I fall back asleep in his arms, my alarm goes off after a few hours and I move to roll over but there is a little body behind me. I smile and giggle moving to Chases lips and kissing him awake.
" Mmm, morning baby what's up"
" I can't reach the alarm, Sophie is behind me"
He chuckles
" Sorry, she sleeps with me when she gets scared. Just roll her over baby"
" Easier said then done smartass, considering you have me locked in your arms"
He chuckles again releasing me and I roll over turning off the alarm. Sophie cuddles into my chest and I wrap my arms around her laying back down.
Chase nuzzles into my neck kissing it.
" How long till we have to be up?"
I groan
" Have to be at the Kitchen Hall by 6:30"
" Meaning we have like 5 minutes before we have to get up"
He snuggles closer
" I'll go with 10 baby"
I smile and laugh a little
" 10 sounds good handsome"
We lay there for a while before he finally unmolds himself from my body. The loss of his warmth makes me shiver, and I sit up wiping my eyes.
" I wish we could just lay here forever"
He smiles at me
" So do I baby, but we have a city to run"
I nod and get up to start getting ready for the day, he wakes up Sophie and she grumbles getting out of our bed. I take her back to her room and let her pick her clothes then grab her backpack. Chase is in the nursery getting the babies ready to go. He has Straten changed and ready and is working on changing Abi. I wrap my arms around him and lean on his back.
" Did you ever think, this is how you would become a parent?"
He chuckles turning toward me
" Not at all and I never thought this is how I would find you"
I smile and peck his lips grabbing Abi from his arms
" I'm so glad your here Chase"
" So am I beautiful more than you know."
We get the kids in the car seats and load them up heading to the community kitchen. After we gained more people we turned one of the old grocery stores into the Community kitchen and dining hall. Things have moved very fast since this started but having all three of them with me makes my world slow down just a little.
CHASE
I am still in shock that we made it here last night and that I made it to Maddi. We walk into the dining hall and Maddi puts the babies in highchairs.
" I'm going to go get food"
I nod and she grabs Sophie's hand leading her off to go get breakfast.
" Still say it isn't love?"
I look at Kyle and roll my eyes
"Don't start man, I don't know what it is but I know I can't let her go"
He nods
" I know man, I am the same way with Dylan. That baby no matter who's seed is my baby just like his mother"
I smile
" I'm glad we made it man"
" Me too, I thought we where goners for a while"
The girls come back carrying trays of food and Maddie sits beside me putting Cheerios on the babies trays. Sophie sits on the other side of me and tugs my shirt.
" Yes sweet girl?"
" Can I sit by aunt Maddi"
Maddi turns from the babies wide eyed and I smile
" Of course you can Sweetie"
I trade her seats and Maddi leans down kissing her head
" Eat princess we need to get you to school"
Sophie starts eating her food and Dylan and Maddie start talking about Madden, Dylan's soon to be little boy.
A young woman walks up sitting beside Dylan
" So is this my new additions?"
Maddi nods
" This little guy is Straten, and this is princess Sophie"
I raise my eyebrow and she giggles at me
" This is Carly, she runs the daycare. She has been with me since the beginning."
I nod
" Nice to meet you Carly"
She laughs
" You as well Chase I am assuming meaning the guy tackling Dylan in kisses is Kyle"
I smile and nod
" Take care of my kiddos"
" Always, I need to get to the daycare. Maddi do you want me to take the babies?"
Maddi shakes her head
" We got it today Carly thanks"
She smiles and walks off Maddi turns to me
" Sorry, it is okay that I put them in daycare right?"
" Stop, baby of course it is so does Sophie go to school and then daycare?"
She nods
" She only goes half the day, then a shuttle bus will take her and the others to daycare. I figured you would want to know where they would be so we can take them together today."
I smile
" Sounds great Beautiful"
I finish eating and grab our trays disposing of the trash and turning in the trays. Maddi is putting the kids in a double stroller where did she even get that. She grabs Sophie's hand as I walk up to them.
" Ready Handsome?"
" We're walking?"
" Yeah the school and the daycare are just the next block over"
We take off out of the Hall and I grab Sophie's other hand as we walk. We get to the daycare first and Carly greets us again, taking the babies. Then we head to the school two buildings away, we take Sophie in and Maddi hug her teacher.
" Take care of her for me Maggie"
She nods and looks at me
" Hi Chase, glad you made it".
My eyes go wide as I realize who she is
" Magdalene!!!"
She smiles
" Danny is on century today but we will come over after dinner tonight."
" Did Kyle and Falco make it?"
I shake my head
" That is little Sophie Falco's daughter, his son Straten is at the daycare"
" I'm sorry Chase, but don't worry she is in good hands"
I know she is Maggie thank you"
Maddi grabs my hand and we walk out together heading back to the kitchen.
" I actually need to head to that side of the wall when we finish with your people if you want to go see Danny."
I squeeze her hand a little tighter
" That would be great baby"
We get to the hall and all of my people are sitting around waiting, Maddi leads us to the front to a microphone.
" Hi, welcome to Sanctana"
" For those of you who don't know me my name is Maddison Jones, I am the Mayor here in Sanctana. I do not make decisions on my own I have an entire council that helps decide what is just and fair. Some of your members will be added to the council, those chosen by Chase. Chase will also be helping me run this place from now on our numbers are rising and it's a lot for one person."
Someone raises their hand and I address her
" Yes Jane?"
" Don't you think it's a conflict of interest? I mean everyone here has seen you guys cuddled up with each other at dinner last night and this morning at breakfast."
Maddi sighs
" For some it could be but not for Chase and I, we have been through so much loss and gain, trials and errors together within the last 4 and a half months over freaking walkies. We have been working together since the beginning and I don't plan on letting him go anywhere without me anymore."
Jane smiles and sits down
" Now I have a list of available jobs at the table behind me and my friends at this table on the right will help with housing. To the left if you have children you can get them signed up for daycare. All houses and apartments are furnished new beds the couches and TV's are mostly used. But all in good condition, I will be giving you Sanctana bucks so you can buy what you need. Breakfast and Dinner are served here everyday. Depending on your Job is when breakfast starts for you but dinner is at 6:30 every night if you have a late shift job your dinner will be delivered to you. If you are a runner and we get back late it will be provided. Meaning you will have to provide your own lunches, snacks, extra drinks etc. We have 3 main stores here in Sanctana Food, Clothing and Hygiene, and Just for Sh*ts. The stuff in Food and Clothing are all one Sanctana dollar each. Just for Sh*ts the prices Vary now that store is stuff like your cigarettes, vapes, game systems, alcohol, and other various things. That is my spew any questions?"
One of my guys raises his hand and I acknowledge him
" Yes Hank?"
" I have 3 kids, how do I know they are safe at your school and daycare?"
Maddi smiles
" I have a little girl that I adopted when all of this started she is 8 months old. If the standards of the school or the daycare don't meet your expectations then they don't meet mine for my Princess. That goes the same for Chase's kids they are my littles just as much as Abigail."
Hank nods and sits down
" Any more questions?"
No one answers
" Alright, parents if you could go ahead and start signing your kids up we will get them backpacks and shuttled to school, and daycare. Everyone else if you could please sign up for jobs. If you are age 13 or over and would like an after school job we have those available."
Everyone starts moving around and she leads me to the side
" Was that okay?"
I wrap my arms around her kissing her
" It was perfect baby"
We sit down at a table and she hands me a box
" 100 Sanctana bucks per adult one bundle. I will pass out the kids."
I nod and lean over kissing her again I can't get enough of this girl. We start handing out the money and writing down names then she takes out 2 kid bundles and an adult and hands them to me.
" Baby you already bought us everything we need"
" Fair is fair in Sanctana handsome even for us"
I smile and pull her in my lap she giggles kissing me and not letting up as we devour each other. Someone clears their throat and we look up.
" Um hey Kyle what's up?"
" I'm west wall Century we were told that Mads would take us there"
She nods
" Um yeah sorry, he is distracting."
" Yeah I'm the distraction"
She rolls her eyes and gets up. She leads us to vehicles and we jump in the Hummer. Heading to the west wall.
MADDISON
I park at the wall and get out the new 7 men following me. Along with Chase, I climb the main Ladder and get up to Danny.
" Hey boss bringing my new recruits?"
" And a friend or two"
Kyle comes up pulling Danny in a hug.
" Nice to see you Big stuff"
Danny smiles
" Glad you made it bro"
Chase comes up last and Danny pulls him in a hug
" Thought you would never make it Math attack"
He smiles
" Me either Bro glad we did"
" So what's going on?"
Danny sighs
" The Canni's have been surrounding this wall we need to expand but we can't get passed them and we have to clear the way for Isabel and her Convoy."
He nods
" Let me know if I can help man, I got your 6 always"
Danny laughs
" Take care of my little sister right there man, she needs you more than I do"
I smile
" Funny dickhead, put these men on rotation and for sakes don't die"
He starts laughing
" Love you two Brat"
I smile
" Come on Chase I want to take you somewhere."
He nods and we head down the ladder. I get in the Hummer and take him to the fountains.
" This is my favorite place in Sanctana, my dad would bring us here as kids. Telling us the biggest business is the safest"
he pulls me in a hug
" Oh Maddi, he would have been so proud of you"
I look up at him and capture my lips to his. He picks me up and I wrap around him the fountains start spouting and he carries me into them getting doused in water as we never part from our kisses. I pull away and lay on his shoulder, laughing
"Your crazy"
He kisses my head
" Maybe a little baby"
" Come on handsome I have more to show you"
He pulls me in another kiss and I giggle against him as the world around me slows down for just a few moments. I lean my forehead against him and he smiles.
" Think I found a new reason Ocean blue is my favorite color"
I giggle
" I got my emerald green"
He chuckles kissing me again then sits me down
" What do you want to show me Beautiful"
I smile
" Our City"
I walk to the Hummer and remove the doors and he helps me with the roof. We drive around the city and check on all the wall, We head to my office and he sits in the chair. I climb on his lap and sigh.
" Your my safe place Chase"
He kisses my head
" Your my safe place Maddison"
We fall asleep in the chair together safe in each other's arms.
