Once Luke parked into his driveway, we got out the car and entered his house. "Hi dear. Oh, hi Riley." Morgana, his mom, greeted us, with a very cheerful tone. His mom was always happy and cheerful. She always manages to brighten your day. "Hi, ma." Luke greeted her back. "Hi, Mrs Parker." I greeted her as well. "Lee and I are having a movie night tonight, so you don't need to worry about cooking me supper." Luke informed his mom. "OK. I'll be in my room if you need me. Have fun." She smiled at me and Luke. Then Luke's mom headed towards the stairs and climbed up them. "I'm just going to take my bag upstairs. I'll be back in a sec." Luke told me before rushing up the stairs. I decided to go into the living room to wait for him. I sat down on the couch, only to get back up again. I looked around. There were several pictures of Luke on the walls, as well as some of Luke and his mom. Even some with Luke and I. I saw one picture that was taken on my 13th birthday. The day I turned a teenager. I was wearing a long, yellow summer dress as well pink sandals. My hair was in two buns on either side; there was also a pink bow on the right side of my head. I wasn't as obsessed with bows then, then when I was 5, but I still liked wearing them to special occasions. Now the only bow I own is a small, white one. In the picture, I still had braces. They were bright pink ones as well, even if my favorite color was blue. Baby blue, to be exact. Next to me stood thirteen-year-old Luke. For a teenager who recently hit puberty, he didn't have that much spots. His hair was all over the place, since that photo was taken after dancing for an hour. He wore a green dinosaur t-shirt as well as some dark-blue jeans and blue all-stars. "You alright?" I heard Luke said. I whipped my head around to see Luke standing at the doorway, clutching onto a bowl of popcorn. "Yeah. Just looking at memories." I told him. I walked to couch and sat down. Luke placed the bowl next to me before grabbing the remote and sitting down, putting the bowl on his laps. "What movie do you want to watch?" He asked me. I thought about it. I shrugged at Luke, after thinking about it for a while. "How about Dead Silence 2?" Luke asked me, grinning. He knows I hate scary movies, yet be still suggested it. That boy. "Are you kidding me? If I wanted to stay awake at night I would just drink coffee." I told him. Luke chuckled at me, so threw some popcorn at him. "Aye! Don't waste zee popcorn!" Luke laughed. ** After begging me for ten minutes, I finally settled to watch Dead Silence 2 with Luke. It was halfway into the movie, and I pulled my legs to my chest, so I can put my head down at any scary moments - which was every moment. After the movie ended, Luke grabbed my hands, yanking at them to make me look up. I looked at him, and saw him looking at me intently. "Do you want to stay over?" Luke asked. "Yes please. No way am I going out into the dark. As if I'm having some possessed puppet kill me." I said as serious as I could. Clearly not serious enough since Luke chuckled at my response. I got changed into some pyjamas that I leave at Luke's, for emergency's such as these. I took my hair out of the bun, as it's uncomfortable to sleep with your hair up. ** I woke up with my phone bombarded with messages from my mom. Most of them read: Mom: Where are you, Riley??? I decided to reply to her with an apology, since I didn't get them earlier. Or maybe I did, but I was too busy shivering in fear to realize my phone vibrating. You: Sorry, mom, only just got your messages. I'm at Luke's. About two minutes later, I got a reply. Mom: Oh OK. Don't scare me like that OK? By the way, you have to pick up Caleb at 3 from his friends house. Me and your father will be out. Love you xx I nearly forgot Caleb had his sleepover yesterday. I wondered where mom and dad were going. Maybe on a date? You: Alright. Love you too x I put my phone away before getting off the couch. Whenever I slept over at Luke's house, I always slept on the couch while he slept on an air mattress. Even when I insist I should sleep on the air mattress, he tells me to go on the couch. I looked down to see Luke still sleeping. He looks so peaceful when he sleeps. He isn't that type of guy that snores in his sleep - he's the silent one. Even if he isn't all the quiet when he's awake. "I love you." I whispered while looking down at Luke. I left the living room, sighing. If only I could confess to him when he's awake. But I can't. I can't because rejection is right around the corner. I went into the kitchen to see Luke's mom making pancakes. She turned around and smiled when she noticed me at the door. "Morning, Riley. I'm making some blueberry pancakes for breakfast, so you can stay and have some if you like." His mom suggested. I nodded. "Thank you." "Is Lucas awake yet?" She asked me. "No." "Can you wake him up for me, dear?" She asked. "Sure." I replied. "Thank you, Riley. I'll leave your pancakes on a plate." Luke's mom told me. I smiled at her, before leaving the kitchen and stepping into the living room. Still asleep. I went on my phone and put on Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray. I then put it full-volume and put it next to Luke's ear. Then I pressed play and laughed as he jumped up as soon as it started playing. "What the heck?" Luke shouted, covering his ears. Then he realized I was there, and gave me such a deadly glare, that if looks could kill, I would me falling down the galaxy - even with no gravity. "What? Your mom told me wake you up." I bit my tongue to resist the urge to laugh. His expression was hilarious - even the most serious person in all of humanity would laugh it at. Am I exaggerating? Just a teensy bit. "Did you really have to wake me up like that? No 'Hey, wake up Luke, your mom is making breakfast.' or something?" Luke asked me. His morning voice was so... I'm not going to get into that or I might start thinking about him. Crap I already am. "No. My way is better." "I really hate you right now." ** Since it was a Saturday, I didn't have to worry about going to school. I find it quite odd that I started school on a Friday, but hey! I'm not complaining. I sat at my homework desk, trying to write a song. I can play a bit on the ukulele, so I tend to write songs to play with the ukulele. Luke went out with his two friends, Miles and Adam and Anna was out with Oli on a date. Which meant I was currently writing a song about my feelings towards my best friend. Yay.
