eleven || quiet confessions

I looked down at the bow, in shock. It's been twelve years since I've seen it, and now here it is - in a medium-sized, silver box. I was looking down at it as if it was a precious gem. Five-year-old me would be jumping up and down, singing Hallelujah at the top of my lungs while displaying it on the biggest wall of the house. Whereas now, I'm in pure shock to see it. It doesn't look old, like most of my bows that I've managed to keep. It actually looks... brand new. I remember the day I lost this. I couldn't function properly. This was my favourite bow - favourite thing I owned, actually - ever. And now, twelve years later, I'm holding it in my palms. The colour would go well with my dress, though. I put the bow back in the box, and then put the box in a drawer. I went downstairs to see what everyone was getting up to, since I was now feeling social. "Hi, mom. Hi, dad." I greeted my parents. They both mumbled a 'hello' to me as well, as I started walking to the TV to pick something to watch. My mind kept diverting to Luke, though. Did he really keep it for twelve years? And why? Maybe there's hope. There we go again. My inner voice needs to be quiet. ** "Riley, I'm bored!" Caleb came into my room. I looked up from playing Color Switch on my phone to see him standing near my doorway. "So go do something." I told him. "Like what?" I threw my phone next to me, only to caress it afterwards and whispering 'I'm sorry' to it. Everyone totally does that. "I don't know, what do you want to do?" I asked him. "That's what I came to you for!" He cried. I face-palmed myself, grabbing Caleb's attention. He looked at me, and gave me a confused countenance. "Well, what do you expect me to do? Couldn't you see I was playing Color Switch? They have a The Floor Is Lava level." I explained. "Riley! I'm really bored." He muttered. "So, do something. Why don't you ask mom if you can go to Sam's house?" I suggested. He shook his head. "I asked mom but she said she won't take me. Then I asked dad, but he said he was busy as well." "Well then, I'll take you if that stops you from whinging." I said, getting up from my bed. "Really? Thanks Riley!" He said running out before shouting again. "Mom, dad, Riley's taking me to Sam's!" I groaned, instantly regretting the decision. But on the plus side, Caleb will be gone from the house for a while. I put on a blue jumper and some Spanish jeans along with my blue converse. I tied my hair into two buns and applied more concealer to hide my freckles. I got out my room, and started walking to Caleb's room. I saw him packing all sorts of things into his backpack, like his Transformers and other action figures. "Hurry up, Caleb." I told him. He jumped up, looking at me. He zipped up his bag before throwing it over his shoulders and running to me. "Let's go." ** I started walking back from dropping of Caleb, when someone grabbed my arm. I was about to ninja-chop them, when I turned around and saw it was Harvey. Seriously, why does he have to be everywhere I go? Imagine if I could telepathically communicate with people. I would tell him all sorts of things along the lines of 'LEAVE ME THE HECK ALONE.' Yeah. "So, I have a party on Friday. Want to go?" He asked. I looked at him, my eyes drooping, since they were lazy to look at the toad in front of them. Yes, I referred to my eyes in third person. They have their mind of their own... especially when observing Luke. "No. I have plans. But, did you really have to seem like a creep just to tell me this? You do know I go to the same school as you, right?" I told him. He rolled his eyes. "Yeah. Well if your 'plans' change, feel free to come to my place." He told me before walking towards a black car. OK then. ** "Mom, dad I'm-- Luke?" I was surprised when I came home to see Luke munching on a carrot, watching TV. He turned around to see me there. "I'm pretty sure my name is Luke and you're Lee." He witted. "No, why are you here?" I asked shocked. It wasn't that I didn't want him there, because believe me, his presence makes me want to do a happy dance to a Pharell Williams song, but I still wanted a valid explanation. "Well, I'm sorry. We're really close, so I thought I'd be welcome. I guess I was wrong." He said, pretending to be upset. At least, I hope it was pretend. "No! I mean, where are my parents?" I corrected. "At the mall, getting a present for your cousin for her wedding." Luke informed me. Well, that made sense, I guess. Today is Monday, and Andrea's wedding is on Friday. I still don't get why we got the invitation in such short notice. Only about a week before it. Then again, Andrea always did things last minute - so it makes sense. "Oh, OK. What are you watching?" I asked, walking towards the TV screen. "Orange Is The New Black." He told me. "Oh, is about those female prisoners?" "Yep." He replied, popping the 'p'. I sat down near him, watching with him. He started yawning and stretching, and as his hand was going back down, it went round the couch where I was. He thinks he's so sly. "Dang, that must've hurt." I said when Piper Chapman got burnt on the hand. Luke chucked. His green orbs looked at my brown eyes, and I smiled. He looked back at the TV screen muttering something. But it was audible enough for me to hear. It made my heart skip a beat, my cheeks turn a bright shade of pink and my body to start shaking in excitement. "She's so cute."
