Chapter 4 - Heather

576 Words
My grandma disappears again after a few hours and for the first time I am alone in my own apartment. I breathe deeply and think about what I could do now. I don't have to unpack my boxes, so I decide to explore the city first. I get up from the sofa and go to my room, where I have parked my suitcases for the time being. I pull out a dark jacket to put on and a pair of sneakers to slip into. Then I go looking for my wallet and the front door key. For the latter I will definitely need a bowl or a key board in the near future, otherwise I am lost. When I have just located both, the doorbell rings out of the blue. With my eyebrows raised, I move towards the door. Who can that be? After all, I don't know anybody here and my relatives have no more time today. A little hesitantly I open the door and look right into the face of my neighbour. Perplexed I look at the man. What is he doing here, please? A few hours before he didn't want to know anything from me. "Hey", he greets me with a grin as he notices my surprised look. "H-Hey," I reply in amazement and let my gaze wander up and down on him: "What are you doing here? "You must be Heather," he also looks at me with a slightly inquiring look. "Yes, that's it", I put my head a little crooked. Actually I had expected him not to want to know anything about me - his behaviour at least made this seem like it. That's why his sudden appearance is such a mystery to me. "I know we had a pretty bumpy start, which was undoubtedly my fault," he begins to say: "And I'm here to apologise." "Apologize?", I look at him doubtfully. That's the last thing I expected from him. The short moment I had contact with him made him look like quite an asshole. "Yes, excuse me", strangely enough his facial expression tells me that he is absolutely serious about it. I shrug my shoulders and wait for something to come from him. After all, that can't be the reason why he stopped by. His company isn't the one I can imagine, but he knows his surroundings well and can perhaps give me a few insider tips about good shops. Besides, I don't have to go shopping anyway. I can hardly eat pizza every day - even if the performance is tempting. "And you really want to go out like that?", my gaze was fixed on his light grey sweatpants. "Yes, do you have a problem with that?", he slightly pinches his eyes together. I raise my hands defensively: "No, I'm sure not." "Then it's good', he walks towards the stairs. When I don't make any effort to follow him, he turns around and asks me: "Are you coming? "Uh, ... yes", I check again if I have packed my money and my key. Since this is the case, I step into the hallway and close the door behind me. Together we step onto the street and I follow Sebastian a little hesitantly, without knowing exactly where he leads me. The suspicion that he is not behaving in this way out of friendliness is pushing into my head and I wonder what he is trying to do with this behaviour.
