“Then that means we only have 15 minutes to get me to her, or she will kill everyone in this mansion,” Malachi said unshackling himself.
“How did you... Uhm, never mind. Let's go, the only person that is with her is the royal coroner. How is it possible that she is alive?” Solomon asked as they walked to the burial prep room where Cecila and the coroner are in the mansion.
“Well, you removed me from drinking all of the queen’s blood. So, her remaining blood has my venom in it. She's not dead, she’s just turning into a vampire. With only five percent of blood left in her body, the change will happen much quicker than normal. That's why I stayed.” Malachi said explaining how the queen could possibly be alive.
“So, she’s alive?” Solomon asked.
“Technically speaking yes. But she is going to be immortal. And with that, comes the need to feed on blood.” Malachi said.
King Solomon walked in stunned silence not sure if he should believe this man, but he is trying to provide an explanation for what is to happen to Cecila and is offering to help her. Or so he says. Solomon told the guard next to him to wake the royal blacksmith and have him make two pairs of silver shackles, just in case. The guard nodded then left and was replaced by another guard.
“Oh, there is something you should know about vampires. Seeing as if you clearly know nothing about us. We have extremely good hearing. So, you won't be able to whisper to your guards or kids without your wife hearing it.” Malachi said.
“That’s okay. I never keep secrets from my wife.” Solomon said proudly.
“Good. Because depending on what her new ability will be, she’ll be stronger than you and any guard in this mansion and in your castle. I could've snapped your neck and the necks of the seven guards you brought, in one slap of your face. So, with your wife being a newly turned vampire, she may be even stronger than me.” Malachi told Solomon.
Feeling a bit tricked, Solomon said, “So, how are you going to be able to stop her if she is stronger than you? How would you stop her from killing me, my guards, her maids, or worse our children?”
“Is there any silver where we are heading?” Malachi asked.
Solomon thought about it for a second and then nodded his head.
“Good. I won't need it, but you might want it. Usually, when a human is turned into a vampire, either on purpose or by accident (Malachi points to himself), they have no choice but to listen to the vampire who sired them. That is until the venom of that vampire is no longer in the system of the newly turned vampire and they are making their own. But I have never turned a royal human into a vampire either on purpose or by accident before. So, she may listen to me but there is a chance that she will have the willpower to ignore my commands.” Malachi said.
“Wait, so you’re telling me that my wife is going to be your slave?” Solomon asked, getting angry.
“Maybe. But that’s why I will allow you to put the silver shackles on me. And I will stay here until she begins making her own venom. That way I can teach her self-restraint.” Malachi said.
Solomon nods his head and says, “Okay. Thank you, Malachi. Maybe during your stay, you can tell me about how I could've possibly saved you.”
Nodding Malachi entered the room that Solomon pointed to. Solomon entered behind Malachi and couldn't believe what he saw.
“Cecila? Honey, is that really you?” Solomon said.
Cecila was in the corner of the room crouched down as the coroner was trying to get her out of the corner.
“What is the coroner’s name?” Malachi asked.
“His name is Benson,” Solomon answered.
Nodding Malachi said, “Benson, step away from Cecila. Very slowly, no sudden movements.”
Nodding his head Benson got up and began backing away from Cecila but bumped into the operating table behind him. This action ended up cutting his pant leg open and his leg causing him to bleed. Cecila looked up instantly at the smell of blood.
“Benson, RUN!” Malachi shouted as he ran at Cecila who was already on her feet and beginning to run after Benson.
Benson turned and ran to where Solomon and his guards were now outside of the room.
“Guard the door! Where’s the blacksmith?” Solomon shouted over the fighting ensuing between Malachi and Cecila inside the morgue.
After fighting for a good five minutes to keep Cecila away from the humans, Malachi got an opening to break her neck and he took it. Solomon saw this and became furious.
But before he could say anything, Malachi said, “Before you bite my head off. She is fine. This is one of the only ways to stop a vampire that won't listen to reason. Or that you can't calm down. Unless you want to kill them. Yes, I snapped her neck, but she will be fine. She might wake back up with a sore neck but that won't last for long.”
Solomon nodded his head, then picked up his wife, and began carrying her to her bedchamber.
“Have the blacksmith bring the silver shackles to Queen Cecila’s bedchamber,” Solomon said smiling as he headed to her room.
Malachi was given a room in the hopes that he would stand by his word. The next morning Malachi was called for by the king to meet him in the throne room. He stayed in the throne room for 10 minutes, waiting for Solomon, when he heard Solomon coming down the hall with his children.
“Kids this is Malachi. He is an old friend of mine and I asked him to come here to help me explain why no one is allowed to see mommy for a couple of days.” Solomon said and then gestured for Malachi to speak.
“Hello, little ones. May I ask who here is the oldest?” Malachi said smiling.
