Even with the key card in my possession, the outcome was rather bleak. I had been electrocuted, brutally beaten, and hung upside down continuously since I arrived. It was difficult to say how much time had passed. Even though it felt like years, I knew it had only been about a day. If I had been another wolf, I would most likely have died by now. Even with all the stress my body endured, I should have been healing to some degree by now.
I considered the only choices I had before me. Allow them to kill me or die trying to escape, neither had the outcome I expected.
