Monk’s Coffee Pot wasn’t far from Craig’s modest apartment at the edge of Wicker Park. On a typical early autumn morning like this, Craig wouldn’t mind walking the few blocks to meet with Danny. But this morning was a little tougher. Craig hadn’t slept well the past couple of nights. Both the re-creation with Danny and the session with Dr. Burris had left him feeling confused and dissatisfied, robbing him of his usual morning energy.
It was nearly 7:30 when he entered the coffee shop, scanned the large sitting area, and spotted a two-seater near the front. He figured he’d wait for Danny to arrive before ordering, but as the minutes dragged on, he felt increasingly awkward waiting at the table by himself.
He looked around. Observing the other patrons made him feel
