Chapter 1: Iris POV “I can’t wait to see if he’s my mate,” I said excitedly. Today is my 18th birthday and before now, I have been having this weird sensation anytime I’m around the alpha and I have a huge crush on him. “Babe get your head out of the clouds, there’s no way he’s your mate okay? Now get ready and come downstairs” my best friend said in a strange tone. Weird, she’s been acting strange ever since I told her about my feelings for the alpha. Maybe I’m just overthinking it. I look at myself in the mirror one last time then head out the door and downstairs. Immediately I caught the alpha’s eyes, we both knew that we were mates and I was overjoyed. Sadly, he wasn’t too thrilled to be mated with me. “No no no, you can’t not be my mate. I’m never accepting you as my mate.” He said in disbelief as everyone stared at us in shock. “You can just reject her and get rid of her. Imagine what people will think” my best friend said going close to him. Her words broke my heart. Alpha Boris looks at me with disgust and disappointment as he holds my smirking best friend close which breaks my heart even more. “You want a reason? I’ll give you a reason. You are weak, pathetic, stupid, naive, and a foolish little rat and you do not deserve to be my mate. What will people think of me?” He said getting angry I felt my wolf getting sadder with each word that came out of his mouth. Why would he say this to me? Doesn’t he know how much they hurt us? “Please I promise to be better, work harder on myself, and get stronger for you. Just please don’t reject me, my wolf wouldn’t be able to take it please” I said, voice cracking. “You see, just like I said before; pathetic. Maybe your parents couldn’t stand you anymore so they decided to give themselves to the enemy just to escape from you” Boris said making my heart shatter into a thousand pieces. “No need for long talk. I, Boris Wolff, reject you, Iris Steel as my mate” Immediately he said that I felt as if my heart was forcefully ripped into two. It hurts so much. I immediately fell to my knees clutching my chest and screaming out in agony. “Get your pitiful self out of my sight and pack your things. You are hereby banished from this land, never to return.” He said immediately turning his back on me and walking away with my so-called best friend I was just on the floor crying until one of the maids, the only lady who was a little bit nice to me here, came to me and lifted me, guiding me to the omega’s quarters. I just followed her without complaint feeling so weak, I could even feel my wolf strength diminishing by the minute. When we got there, She helped me pack my things while I just sat on my bed sulking and trying to catch my breath. “So sorry for this dear. I can’t imagine how much pain you must be going through right now. Just be strong okay, everything will be alright” She said sitting next to me holding me tight and trying to calm me down. I just started crying all over again thinking about how I’m going to survive all alone in the wild with all those dangerous rogues I have heard about. Oh moon goddess, what have I done to deserve this? Why did you pair me up with someone that was just going to reject me and leave me to suffer all alone? ‘Please Moon goddess, protect me because I can’t survive all on my own in my current state. Just guide me moon goddess’ I thought as I continued to cry on her shoulders while she kept reassuring me that everything would be okay …….. It was time for me to leave the pack. I carried my bag and walked out of the pack house only to see Alpha Boris and my best friend holding each other and looking at me with disgust. My best friend came close to me, held my shoulders so tight that her nails were digging into my collarbone, and whispered in my ear; “Have fun surviving with those rapid animals out there. Will be waiting for someone to find your dead body. It’ll be a delight to me because you’re nothing and will always be nothing. Have a nice life” She walked away from me and gave me a sinister smile which sent chills down my spine. “After everything I have done for you, you decided to betray me like this. How could you? I wandered for hours in the forest then my tummy started growling. I needed to find something to eat ASAP. Luckily for me, I saw a deer and knew it was time to try and hunt to get food. Either that or I’ll starve to death but first, I need to know how Aurora, my wolf, is doing. “Hey luv, are you strong enough for a hunt? Because I’m starting to get hungry right now” I asked her “I’m good love. Just let me take control” Immediately after she said that I stripped and changed into my wolf. I especially love her white fur, her grey eyes, and the wolf mark on her right shoulder. Stealthily, She got close to the deer without it noticing and stroked when she was close enough. We dragged it to a nearby cave ate to our heart's content, and dozed off into a dreamless state. Waking up to the sun on my face, I realized I was still in my wolf form. Stretching in my wolf form is the best thing to do and so satisfying. I changed back into my human form and wore the clothes from last night then gently walked out of the cave to go get my things. Getting out, I saw that the forest was very beautiful at night, star’s glimmering in the sky, the full moon, the gentle breeze, oh so refreshing. I then walked over to where my bag was but stopped in my tracks because I saw a girl rummaging through my things. I quickly picked up a stick I saw near me and held it up. “Who are you?” I asked
