The expression remains as I roam my eyes around the busy street of Tokyo. Some people glanced at me with a frown, maybe they were thinking that I'm crazy so I fixed myself and started walking, still my eyes are examining every side and corner.
I halted as I glanced at the dead blue eyes. Holy moly! Those eyes! It's the ghost! But he walked past me. Didn't he recognize me?
I should be frightened but he needs help. He said it and I wonder what it is. As long as he didn't go near or hurt me, I'll be fine— I guess.
Absent-mindedly, I followed the man with dead blue eyes. He is tall, near six feet tall, his broad shoulders are built manly. From my perspective, he's handsome— is the ghost handsome?
The ghost has a square jaw, straight jet black hair, and he's five feet and three inches tall. Has bruised and puffy hooded sad blue eyes, natural roman nose, a swollen thin lips that has cuts, and more bruises on his cheeks, jaw, and forehead. Minos the cuts and bruises, he's handsome.
I bumped on his back that made my pupils dilated in shock. Oh hell. He stopped walking and was about to turn around when I hurriedly ran back to where I was a while ago. Holy grace, he's not the ghost!
His dead blue eyes— the ghost has sad blue eyes. Isn't it the same? A sad one can be turned into a dead blue, right? Emotions can change accordingly but, their build is different, maybe their different and I'm just paranoid.
“Sei?” a familiar voice called from my south that made me look back.
The dead blue eyes are what I met, making my breathing hitch and my body stiffen. He looks like a ghost but some features aren't. I felt guilty for assuming that he's a ghost but I just shrugged it off as the familiar voice called me again.
“Kaizo?” There I met his bright smile that is reserved for me. I can still feel the owner of the dead blue eyes staring at me.
“Let's go to Kokusai together?” he offered, lifting his hand in the air for me to hold but I didn't. It's uncomfortable.
I plastered a small smile and nod. “Sure.” gripping the hem of my jacket tightly I started to walk, leaving Kaizo's hand in the air. Looking back to where the blue eyes are, he's gaze drifted to Kaizo before frowning and walking back on his track. I sighed.
“How's your weekend, Sei?” Kaizo opened a conversation as he walked by my side, keeping his hands to his pockets.
Deadly. My weekend is hell. “There's nothing much to tell.” my voice became womanly and well toned as to how my mother teached me.
“Yeah? I guess you stuck your nose between pages.” he joked around that made me smile a bit.
“Not really.” I don't feel like talking— as always.
“Sei, don't deny it. You belong to the top class and topped the final exam way back in grade eleven.” and that made me smile bigger.
I feel proud of myself. I topped it last year. I looked up sideways to meet Kaizo's hooded eyes, he's lips lifted to a smile.
“I've seen that smile again.” I'm quick to look away. Why does he have to say that? I felt his hand slide on my shoulder that made my smile fade. It's a friendly gesture, but my insides sting.
“Uhm . . . Your hands—”
“Oh! Sorry!” he moved his hands away in a hurry. “I'm just used to doing it a lot— sorry.” I just nodded and the silence between us began.
I guess being an extrovert like Kaizo entails those friendly gestures that I'm not used to. He's not that touchy when we were younger, being a social bug changed him.
“Sei, I'm really sorry.” His voice is sincere and serious.
I stifle a smile. “It's fine, I'm just afraid— uhm . . .uncomfortable when somebody is touching me.” it's better that he knows that I don't like to be touched.
“I noticed, I'm sorry.” hearing him sigh made me look up on him.
“It's fine, just— uhm . . .minimize it when it comes to me?” I tried to compromise.
He looks at me with understanding and nods. “Anything, Sei. It's my fault too. I carried my liberation here when I took a vacation in California.”
“So it means you enjoy California?” I asked to lighten the mood.
He shrugged. “It's the American life that I enjoyed not . . .” Kaizo trailed off without continuation. He became uneasy.
“How's Narusawa?” I asked to ease his uneasiness.
Kaizo's smile is back again. “It's awesome! My brothers are at home. That means grilled barbeque . . .”
Kaizo always talks happily about his family. I'm glad with envy that he has a happy home.
“. . .we also hiked with our father. That made my body ache a bit but it's worth it.” He continued his story.
“You're lucky to have such a family.” I commented that made his eyes filled with delight.
“I want to be one of us?” he joked again, which made me chuckle.
“Don't flirt with me using your family.” I joked that made him chuckle, then a thought came up. “Anyway, are ghosts from Narusawa harmful?”
“What?” he laughed as if it's a joke. “Does being harmful take its place? And I didn't know you're interested in some ghost. The last time you heard a scary story—”
“Just answer it. I— I've watched this . . .movie and I think something isn't right,” what a liar am I.
Kaizo laughed again. “If you say so.” he's not convinced. “Ghost being harmful is their choice? Or maybe on how they die? Who knows?”
I let the thought sink in and nodded. “Ghosts are somewhat interesting.”
“Yeah? Have you seen one—”
“No!” I answered defensively in a loud voice.
He's black thick brows rose up and stared at me. “Hey, calm down. I'm not picking a fight.”
I faked a laugh. “It's just crazy to see them.”
Kauzo shrugged it off and took a glance at his wrist watch. “Sei, it's eight forty.” he said in a rush.
Hell! My class!
“Let's go?” Kaizo asked, offering his hand. I took it immediately and we started running. Not minding that I'm being touched.
Holy grace! I can't be late and get a zero at the same time!
Kaizo stopped running while heaving deep breaths and loosen his grip on my hand. “Sei, be careful. Bye!” he shouted and began running for his room.
I wasted no time to run and enter my room, enough to get the attention of my classmates.
“Ms. Kanasimi, please take your seat.” my eyes look back to see our male lecturer.
“Y— yes, Sir.” I bowed and went to my chair near the window, still heaving breaths from running.
