CHAPTER 13
The car came to a halt in front of the gates to my pack's border. There was a tense moment as we waited for all to clear to pass through.
The guards at the gate looked tense and ready to attack at any moment. I was sure they had recognized my scent but were wary of the alien scents mingled with mine. Their eyes darted here and there as if sensing danger as they peered into the interior of the car.
Kane's driver wasn't helping. His hands were clenched on the steering wheel, his teeth were barred and he was emitting steady, low growls. Other guards not manning the border gates came towards us, attracted by the scene. I had to put a stop to it before a fight broke out. Annoying as Kane was, I didn't want him to get hurt.
