CHAPTER 21 I stared at him in surprise. My gaze shifted from his face to my elbow. "Alastair, take your hands off me," I ordered in a low hiss. He made no move to do so. My glance slowly but angrily went to his face. Sucking in a breath, I braced myself to yell at him. Alastair must have anticipated my course of action. He leaned closer to me. "Eleanor, please. . . please, don't." My mouth already open, I thought better of my decision. Yelling at Alastair now would be counterproductive. Besides, Kane and my parents were still in the dining hall. My voice would carry and bring Kane most especially to see what the fuss was all about.
