Just as I had suspected, Jack had not left my side for the rest of the day. I secretly enjoyed having him close to me. Not just because it seemed to have kept Ruby and her friends away from me, but it was also nice to have someone in school who actually talked to me. For once, I didn't spend an entire school day feeling invisible.
To top the day off, Ruby had actually apologized to me after school.
I don't know if she was being sincere or if Jacob had told her to do it, but either way, I had no desire to give her any more reason to target me, so I told her I accepted her apology.
Jack was now sitting next to me as Jacob drove his car.
"Can we go to my house to collect some things before we head back to yours, please?" I asked Jacob.
