A Dark Dusty Hole
Jeff had turned his light on and it was brighter and much bigger. He had ordered his from the big city and picked it up in Bear Valley. It was cutting-edge technology for the day and used four batteries at a time. It was designed for a floodlight and lit the whole shaft like day when he turned it on. Seth saw it come on as he moved forward. For a moment he thought he might have somehow found daylight. He crawled to the opening and stared out at Jeff and the waterfall.
The light was reflecting off the water as it cascaded down the steep slope behind Jeff. That sent little mirror-like reflections all the way down the shaft. It was a little mesmerizing at first and he just sat and looked.
