Second Chance Mate

I ran back home to tell them about what happened and about how we could possibly steal the things we need from the pack I was just in. I went inside to tell them as soon as I got back but the only one home was Eric. "Hey Eric where's Ethan and Lana?" I ask him and he jumped because he was focused on the tv and didn't hear me walk in. "They went to the store to buy food. They should be back soon though because they left five minutes after you did." He said and I hear a car coming towards the house. "They're almost here it sounds like so I'm going to go shower and put on fresh clothes and I'll tell you guys the story then." I say and head for the stairs. "What story?" He asked. "You'll hear about it later!" I yelled as I ran upstairs. I went to my room and grabbed black spandex shorts, a dark grey crop top, and my underwear. I got in the shower and heard Lana and Ethan walk in. I finished my shower quickly and rushed to get dressed. I went downstairs and seen Lana putting up groceries and the guys talking at the counter. "Hey I have something to tell you guys." I say and they all stop what they're doing and turn to me. "I went on my run as planned but I accidentally went on pack lands and two huge wolfs almost as big as me came out of the bushes by this lake I was at. It had crystal clear water and they looked ready to kill me for being there." I said and the twins freeze then look at each other and gulp. I'm confused and so is Lana by the look she's giving all of us. "Why are you guys looking at each other like that?" Lana and I ask at the same time. "You walked on the most dangerous pack and came back alive? How is that even possible? They're the number one most powerful pack in the world!" Eric yells shocked and Ethan's eyeballs look like they're about to pop out. "They're a little on the slow side. I didn't fight them even though I know I could've. I just ran off and they chased me to the pack border. Anyways I was thinking we could steal from their pack for things we may need." I say and all of their mouths drop open. I'm confused and they just look like they seen a ghost.

"Guys close your mouths before you catch a fly." I say and roll my eyes. "There is no way your going to steal from that pack. We have everything we need we don't have to steal from them." Ethan says. "If we ever need anything though we will raid that pack though right?" I ask and they all shake their heads. "Kayla that's the most dangerous pack there is no way any of us would make it out of there alive!" Lana says in disbelief. "I made it out of there alive." I say in a duh tone and shrug my shoulders. "Alright fine we won't steal from their pack." I mutter. They all smile and go back to doing what they were doing before I came in. "Oh and Kayla I went and bought you and Lana new phones while you were gone." Ethan says. "Thank you but I don't know how to work those things since I never had one before." I say and smile in thanks at him. He winks at me "Don't worry I'll show you how to work it." He says and I laugh. "What do you guys want for lunch?" Lana asks and we wait to see what the twins want. Their faces light up like a child's on christmas making me giggle.

"Pasta!"

"Steak!"

They yell at the same time making me and Lana roll in laughter when they glare at each other. "How about Lana and I make both?" I ask and they look like they just won the lottery. Lana and I begin to cook and the twins keep nagging us about when the food will be ready.

We are almost done cooking when Ethan walks in again for the third time in five minutes. "Is it ready yet?" He asks in a whiny voice. "No and if you walk in here asking again I'm going to beat you with a spatula!" I say and he whines walking off. Lana giggles and I smile. "I'm happy we escaped that awful pack when we did." Lana says and I nod in agreement. "If we didn't I would have just considered killing Kiley!" I say "That doesn't sound like a bad idea either." Lana says and we start giggling. "My birthday is next week!" I say and she smiles. "I know we'll stay up all night and have lots of fun!" Lana says happily. "Oh my goddess I see what your trying to do!" I say and squint my eyes. "What are you talking about?" Lana says acting like she doesn't know. "Your trying to get us focused on my birthday so I'll forget that you turning eighteen in four days!" I say and Lana's face says it all. BUSTED! "Your finally going to get your wolf are you excited?" I ask and she looks sad. "Kayla I don't think I'll get my wolf I'm too weak." She says sadly. "No no you get your wolf no matter what but I believe in you to be able to shift!" I say trying to give her confidence in herself. She has dealt with a lot of pain both physically and mentally like myself. Her parents didn't want her and tried leaving her here before leaving the pack but the rouges got them when they were leaving and they died. She also suffered just as much beatings as me. We have both suffered a lot and made it through it and I believe in her to be able to shift. "You are a very strong and independent wolf!" I say and she smiles at me. "Foods ready!" I yell and the twins come charging in and fixes their food. It's really amusing to see two tough looking rouges get all excited over food. We all eat and watch tv together but I decide to go on another run to build up a good daily routine. It'll also help me build up my muscles so that I can keep getting stronger to go back and take what's rightfully mine back and do my people better. I walk behind one of the trees and shift. Rena has been on edge recently and I'm not sure why. I decide to give her control to work out her frustrations.

Rena gives me back control and I'm back at the crystal clear lake. "Rena why did you bring me back here? This is pack lands and I told the twins and Lana that I wouldn't go here if necessary." I say and she doesn't respond for a second. "I'm not sure. I just feel a pull to go here for some reason." She says just as confused as me. The same wolves from last time plus one other wolf comes out of the tree line growling at me. I turn towards them and tilt my head to the left. They stop growling and their eyes zone out so they must be mind linking each other or their alpha. The big grey wolf closest to me shifts back to human form and tries walking towards me. I take a step back and growl making the ground shake. He stops walking and puts his arms up in surrender. I don't trust him so I keep stepping back. I stop when I see them just letting me and it confuses me. I hear someone behind me and quickly dash out the way when I realize they are trying to sneak up on me. I run through their pack and many pack members pull their children away or growls. A lot of the pack members look surprised but who wouldn't be? I'm a rouge on their territory that probably doesn't have much rouges go through or even make it completely in the pack. Let alone a rouge with a wolf like mine. I don't know where I'm running but I stop when I smell the most intoxicating sent I ever smelled in my life. I shift to human form not caring about the people around me and sniff the air. A huge man comes out of the house and we lock eyes. "MATE MATE THATS MATE GO TO HIM!" Rena screams in my head. This dangerous wolf who could kill everyone in this pack is going crazy over our second chance mate. "Mate!" We say at the same time. He walks over to me calmly and I don't get high hopes so I just stay where I'm at. He takes off his shirt while walking towards me. When he gets to me he hands me his shirt and I put it on. He grabs me and smashes me into his chest and shoves his face in the crook of my neck. "Mine!" He says and I hear some of the shewolves growl at me. As if realizing what he's doing he pushes himself away from me and my heart breaks. He's going to reject me too, I say to myself and I hear Rena whimpering. I'm about to cry and I won't be able to handle it if he rejects me too. So I take a few steps back and run. I hear him and a few other wolves chasing after me but I quickly jump and shift midair. I run as fast as I can to get out of his pack but as I'm about to make it through the border a huge wolf jumps on my back making both of us fall. The wolf is HUGE it's bigger than mine! And by the sparks I'm feeling the wolf is my mate. I try to get up and run quickly but the wolf gets up and pins me down. I growl in annoyance making the ground shake and he looks surprised. I take that chance to kick him off of me and run. I almost make it out when a group of his wolves get in my way. He walks over to me. "Shift!" He says and he sounds angry. I ignore him and just lay down. He growls in annoyance. "Stop being stubborn and shift." He says pinching the bridge of his nose. I huff but don't shift. He looks annoyed with me and if I could I'd be grinning at him. He squats down and looks at me intensely for a second. "Please babygirl just shift to your human form." He says but it still doesn't work. I refuse to give in so easily. "Why are you so damn stubborn?" He growls. I stand up and walk back towards his pack. He quickly stands up and steps in front of me. Even though I'm taller than him in wolf form by a few inches he doesn't move out of my way. Who does this man think he is? He won't let me leave his pack but he won't let me go towards his pack either. "Shift now please." He says but I won't shift back until he asks me to instead of trying to command me. I look away from him and huff. He looks at me for a second and realization crosses his face. "Will you shift back babygirl please?" He asks and I shift back. "Why won't you let me leave your pack?" I ask in annoyance. "Be nice to mate!" Rena says "Why he wasn't nice to us when we first seen him?" I ask and she stays quiet. I snap out of my thoughts when he answers my question. "Your mine of course I won't let you leave my pack." He says and it pisses me off. "I am nobody's. Just because we're mates doesn't mean that I'm yours." I say and glare at him. "Your not leaving my pack." He growls. "Try me!" I growl back loudly and the ground shakes harder than before. He's shocked but I don't care. What rights does he have to keep me here? When he first came up to me he pushed me away as if I was some disease and now he's saying he won't let me leave. The nerve of this man!

I stomp off and grab a T-shirt from one of his men. I put it on and begin walking in a random direction. He catches up to me but this time he has shorts that hang loosely on his hips. He's f*****g hot but I won't let that blind me. He picks me up and throws me over his shoulder. "Put me down right now!" I yell but he ignores me. I would command him but Rena is fighting against me right now so I can't. "You stupid f*****g i***t put me down!" I yell again and he slaps my ass making me yelp. "Be careful what you call me babygirl or I'll spank you again. " He says and I groan. "Put me down you jack ass!" I say ignoring what he told me he'd do since I don't believe he'll do it. He stops walking suddenly making me smack my face off of his strong hard back. "Watch your mouth before I punish you princess." He says in a daring tone trying to see if I would say something or not. "Listen you-" I don't get to finish what I was trying to say before he pulled me off of his shoulder and bent me over his knee striking my ass five times. "Are you done or do you want more." He asks and I keep my mouth shut. "Now if I keep you off of my shoulder are you going to try to run and get spanked even more or are you going to behave and follow me?" He asks and I think about it. I must have been thinking about it for too long because he tosses me over his shoulder and begins walking again.

He finally gets to his packhouse and sets me down. He grabs my hand and drags me inside. I keep getting glares and dirty looks from a bunch of shewolves as we walk to wherever it is we're going. He stops walking suddenly making me smack my head off of his back and lose my balance and fall. I close my eyes waiting to hit the floor but it never happens. I feel the sparks and I know without looking that he caught me. I open my eyes and stand up straight. "Thank you." I say and look away so he doesn't see the blush on my cheeks. He grabs my hand and pulls me in the room. It's an office to be specific the alphas office. "Are we waiting for your alpha or something?" I ask and he chuckles. "You really don't know who I am?" He asks and I'm even more confused. "I'm Alpha Damian Black and your in Blood Moon Pack, my pack." He says and my eyes widen a little. This is Damian Black! He's a ruthless alpha who kills any rouge that crosses his borders. I'm a little scared and I take a step back. I try to seem casual and calm but he noticed that I took a step back. "You don't have to fear me babygirl." He says and I nod even though I still don't trust him. I see the big window to my right and I look back at him. He's linking with someone and I take the chance to take a few steps back.

I run and jump through the window not caring that it's on the second floor. I shift while I'm falling so it doesn't hurt me as bad. I hear him growl from his office and multiple feet behind me. I run faster and now I only hear him chasing me. I make it out of the border and I don't stop running until I get back to the house.

As soon as I step inside they question me and I can't understand what they're saying. "Hey! One person at a f*****g time please." I say and rub my temples. "Where the hell have you been?" Lana asks and I look at them. "I went into Blood Moon Pack and the alpha tried to keep me locked up in there but I escaped." I say like it isn't a big deal. They all gape at me and I'm confused. "Why are you all looking at me like that?" I ask confused. "How in the f**k did you get out?" Ethan practically screams. "I ran while he was linking someone." I say in a duh tone. "Kayla nobody that ever entered his pack without permission has ever made it out alive." Eric says and I shrug. "I'm not a basic wolf." I say and they all nod in agreement.

"So is he as hot as everyone says?" Lana asks and Rena growls in my head but doesn't say anything because she's still mad at me for leaving our mate. "Yeah I guess." I say trying to seem casual. He's actually the hottest man I've ever seen, I say to myself in my head. "His wolf is huge too! It's at least two or three inches taller than mine and we all know how huge mine is!" I say and Lana looks amazed. "I didn't think it was possible for there to be a bigger wolf than yours." Lana says and I nod in agreement.

"I still can't believe you got away but you know he'll come looking for you right?" Ethan asks and I nod. I know I'm not going to get away from him for a long time but at least I got away for now.

"I don't see why you left our mate." Rena complains. "He's going to reject us anyways and he was being a jerk how can you be okay with that?" I ask angrily and she stays quiet. "I'm so f*****g hungry it's not even funny." I say and Eric agrees. He's always hungry though. "I'm going to cook something. Do you guys want anything?" I ask and Eric instantly nods. "I want grilled cheese with pasta." He says and I look at Lana and Ethan to see if they want some too but they shake their head no. I make pasta and grilled cheese for Eric and I to eat while we all watch tv in the living room.

"Hey Ethan and Eric. Lana's birthday is only a few days away which means she may get her wolf and shift so I was wondering after she shifts could you all start training us?" I ask them and they look at each other then at us and nod. I can't control the smile that covers my face from ear to ear and Lana looks just as excited as me. I'll finally be able to get strong enough to take back my pack.

"I'm so happy I bumped into you that day in the forest." I say to Ethan and he smirks. "I knew you liked me." He says and I roll my eyes. "Shut your mouth. I'm not done with my sentence yet!" I whine and they all laugh at me. "If it weren't for me meeting you, I wouldn't have ever found the courage to leave. Lana and I wouldn't have had a place to go if it weren't for the both of you so thank you both so much for the help." I say and the twins smile. "We enjoy y'all's company and food so it's no problem." Eric say and we all laugh.

After we eat and talk for a little longer we all go to our rooms and go to bed. I take a shower before going to bed. I climb in bed and I can't stop thinking about my mate. I know I shouldn't have ran but he wouldn't let me leave and from his actions it seemed like he planned to reject me and I don't think I'll be able to handle being rejected twice.

I decide to take a morning run and workout. After my workout I train myself some more of what I already know from Silver Moons training. I saw some of Blood Moons training too and I decide to practice some of their training too.

I was in the middle of training when I heard a twig snap. I stop what I was doing and quickly get into my fighting form. Another twig snaps from a few feet behind me and then another from my right side. A minute later four rouges are surrounding me growling lowly. I growl back the ground shaking from the growl and the rouges are shocked as usual. They don't leave though so I don't let my guard down.

They surround me and I stand there waiting for the first to attack. The one to my right tries jumping on me but I duck in time for them to go over my head and smack into the other rogue. The one behind me takes the opportunity to slam me into a tree. I go flying into he air and smack into the tree and hear my ribs crack. I ignore the pain and get back up. The same rogue charges at me in full speed and at the last second I move out of the way and they slam into the tree head first so hard that their neck breaks instantly.

‘One down three to go.’ I say to myself. One of the rouges run up and tries to claw my stomach but I move just not fast enough. They manage to claw my stomach slightly but I’m too focused on the fight to notice. I grab a thick tree branch and slam it into the rouges body and they fly into a tree and multiple bones break. I only have two left but I’m losing blood and I feel like I’m about to black out. Ethan comes up from behind and starts fighting the two rouges and I fall to the ground and black out.

A constant beeping noise wakes me up out of my sleep but when I open my eyes I shut them back tightly with a groan from the blinding light.

“You can open your eyes now.” I hear Ethan say. I open my eyes and realize I’m in a hospital. I go to speak but my throats dry and it hurt to even attempt to talk. He walks over and gets a cup of water and brings it over to me. I gulp the water down after sitting up with Ethan’s help. When I feel like I can talk again I look over at Ethan and sigh. “What happened and how can I get this annoying ass machine to shut up?” I ask in annoyance glaring at the beeping machine. Ethan laughs lightly then sighs.

“You were attacked by rouges and one of them must have gotten you good with their claws because you had three deep gashes on your stomach and you were losing blood quickly. If it wasn’t for your wolf healing you then you would have died.” He said and wiped his hand down his face. “Okay so what happened after I passed out?” I asked and he sat in the chair beside me.

“I killed the other two rouges and Lana came outside and seen you and screamed. She wanted to go with me to take you to the hospital but she was in no state to go. She kept having panic attacks and crying so Eric convinced her to stay home and I’d keep them updated about you.” He said and I nodded.

“How long have I been out?” I ask he looks at me for a second before answering. “You’ve been out for three days Kayla.” He says and I. Am. Shocked.

Werewolves heal quickly so they usually only knock out for a few hours, a day at most. My injuries couldn’t have been that bad, could they? “Why was I out for so long? I mean that’s pretty strange considering our healing abilities.” I say and sigh.

He doesn’t answer me for a few minutes I was almost convinced he didn’t hear me until he finally speaks up. “It’s because your mate cheated and it took a huge toll on your body.” He said and I cry.

Why am I never good enough? I just want to have my mate and be happy. I knew my second chance wouldn’t want me but he didn’t reject me like he should have. He decides to keep me in pain while he has fun with his whores! ‘I will no longer be weak because of some selfish mate. I won’t let him find me and if he does then I’m not going down without a fight.’ I thought to myself and felt my wolf growl and nod in agreement.
