I; VIII Shit, s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t!! What do I do?! WHAT DO I DO?!! My eyes darted left to right as I searched for an escape. I heard the footsteps coming closer and closer and I felt my heart was about to stop from the way it was beating exceedingly. 'RUN!' I heard Aleka say. 'Run, Andronika?' She yelled. But my legs were glued to the floor as the ability to think rationally was turned off at this point. "Hey," I felt a tap on my shoulders and I turned around instantly to see the security guard right in front of my face. "Yes?" I tried to keep calm. "Umm, sorry to startle you. It's just...Uh, I saw you when you stepped in and I would really like to get to know you more" the security guard scratched his head. Seriously?!! I got sacred for nothing. 'You almost gave me a heart attack!' Aleka sighed. You're dead, how can you get a heart attack? I inwardly rolled my eyes. "Um, sorry but I gat to go" I smiled sheepishly. I could feel my cheeks getting red from his stare. Just turn back, please. "Please, may I just have your number? Or at least, your name, so we can chat on f******k?" He asked and he did look desperate. Why do I have to meet someone interested in me at such a time?! "Sure, my name is Nika Leer on f******k" I good him and he beamed. 'Seriously?' I could feel Aleka rolling her eyes at me. I just had to get him off my back! "Thanks, I'll chat you up later," he smiled. "Sure, bye" I waved and he jogged back to his post. 'Now can we get out of here?' Sure, sure. You're so grumpy today! I rolled my eyes as I skipped down the stairs of the museum. I caught a cab and hopped into it and I wheeled down the road. I held my locket in my hand and rested my back on the seat. I have never done anything as crazy as what I just did. I literally just stole from a museum! My head still couldn't wrap around that idea. I'm now a thief! 'I told you you're not stealing it, you're just taking it back!' Aleka said. Back? What do you mean? Does the jewel belong to you? Wait a minute! Are you a ghost and you're trying to use me to fulfill your agenda before you go up to Heaven?! I gasped. 'What?! Girl, you have the wildest imaginations' Then what is it? Why did you ask me to steal, I mean, take the jewel? What does it mean to you? 'Look, I'll explain everything but first, let's get home' she said. Okay, After a few minutes, we got into my neighborhood and we drove into my street. "Stop there" I pointed and the driver stopped. "Here, thank you" I paid and got of the cab. My foot hit the pavement and I walked down to our driveway, and I saw Dylan's car parked close to the garage. Oh, God. I have so much to explain. I sighed and walked down to our porch. I took out my keys from the small pocket in my backpack and unlocked the door. I dropped my backpack and keys on the table close the door and took off my shoes. "Nika?" I heard my aunt. "Yes, aunt" I replied. "Honey, please come to the living room," she said. "Sure," I sighed and walked down the hall to the living room. I wasn't surprised to see Dylan sitting on the couch close to my aunt. He prepped up when he saw and he didn't have his usual mischievous smile on his face. Oh, no, D. "Hey, D" I smiled. "Hey," he simply nodded. "Nika, where have you been?" My aunt Sentiana asked. She was in a blue tracksuit with white strips at the side and her blonde hair was tied in a messy bun as usual. "I was at the museum" I answered. "And you didn't tell me before you went there alone?" She crossed her arms and raised her eyebrows. "I had to go there at the last minute, so I forgot to inform you," I said. "Still, you could have at least called me when you remembered. What did you go there for?" Aunt asked I looked over at Dylan and he was already staring at me. What excuse did I give to Dylan again? I can't remember. Ancient spirit, a little help here, please. 'Assignment!" Yes! "I went there for a new project we had to turn in this week" I blurted out. "Okay, tell me next time you go anywhere and go with Dylan if I can't make it," Aunt said. "Sure, aunt. I won't do that again" I smiled. Thank God she bought it! "Let me go get some snacks for you guys," she said and stood up. It was only after she left the room that Dylan stood up and walked towards me. I could feel he wasn't happy with me. "D" I started but he interrupted me. "Nika, you don't need to explain anything to me. You know very well that I don't believe the excuse you gave but I won't question you about it, I just came to make sure you're safe" he said and walked past me. I held his arm back. "Hey, you're leaving already?" I frowned. "Yeah, I have to go to work. Look, I don't know what you're hiding but... I feel hurt that you think you need to hide it from me," he said. "Dylan, it's not like that" "It's okay, I will always be there when you need me. I promise" he smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. "Goodbye, sweet cheeks" he pecked me on my forehead before he left. 'Poor guy, he seemed pretty hurt' Aleka mumbled. I sank onto the sofa with a heavy sigh and closed my eyes. "Did Dylan leave already?" Aunt asked. Yes, he left.
