Halen's memory loss

905 Words
Halen is running from rogue wolves. She has been running for hours and is getting tired. Halen looks in front of herself and sees something in the distance. She's not sure what it is, but tries to get there faster. She tries to concentrate and cloak herself to get away from the rogues. That is her special talent. Cloaking, invisibility. It came in handy a lot after she found out she could do it. She can cloak herself and those within 50 feet of her. Concentrating hard, she finally cloaks herself, and before she can stop to relax, she realizes she needs to find somewhere to hide. She looks around and sees a rock formation on her left that is halfway to whatever it is she sees in the distance. Halen keeps going even though she knows the rogues can't see her. If they catch her, they will hurt her. As she gets closer to the boulder, she looks back to judge how far they are, and they are way back. Hopefully, they'll give up now that they can't see her. When she turns back around, she goes too fast and runs right into the boulders. The wind is knocked out of her lungs, and she bangs her head on the boulders. She gets up dazed and continues to run towards the building 100 feet in front of her. Halen reaches the barrier and climbs the wall out of pure adrenalin, and she gets over it but is very exhausted. She hits the ground and cloaks herself before she blacks out, knowing it will hold for a while. Her last thought before blacking out was that she's safe for now. At least she hopes so. It's a few hours later, by the feel of the sun on her face. Halen lays perfectly still, still dizzy and dazed, and listens to the surrounding voices. She's confused by what's being said. Something about someone running and then disappearing. That's odd. I've never heard of that before. Also, something about his patrol men was missing. This is a strange conversation. As I lay there, I heard a gasp. I stayed very still and waited. My eyes are closed because my head hurts. I heard a gruff voice say, "What is she doing here? "Where did she come from?" Then I heard another voice, a little softer, say, "I don't know, but she's unconscious, and why is she naked?" I opened my eyes and saw the bigger one come closer. I jumped up and growled at him. He stops and looks at me and says, "I'm Dante, and this is Michael. "What is your name?" She answers, "I don't know." They look at me with a puzzled expression. The funnier one asks the bigger one,"What does she mean by that?" Dante took his shirt off and handed it to me. I am naked after all. He looks at me like I made the right choice by taking his shirt. They asked me if I wanted to go inside the pack-house and relax for a minute. I nod my head and wince in pain. Dante and Michael took care as they walked behind me slowly so as not to scare me. When we get to the door, Dante reaches around me and opens it, then gestures for me to walk in. I shrink into myself because even though they haven't hurt me, I still don't know them. She looks over at the table, then back at them, then walks quickly to the table and sits down. Michael asks if I'm tired, and I nod my head yes. They both walk me to the stairs and flank me as I go up the stairs. I feel comfort knowing they are close. They showed me to a guest room and showed me around so I would know where everything was. I was told I could take some time and relax. They left, and I went into the bathroom and took a hot bubble bath. Just what I needed. I hear a noise, but the bathroom door is locked, so I feel safe. I come out of the bathroom and see the clothes on the bed and change. I also see some essentials that I need and run them into the bathroom to put them away. I went back downstairs and stopped at the door listening to see if I could hear the guys. They are both down here waiting for me. When I stand there staring, Dante asks if the clothes don't fit. I felt like he didn't want me to wear his shirt, so I ran back up the stairs and changed into a t-shirt and shorts. Michael bought them for me. When I came back in, Dante is shaking his head. I'm hungry, so when they ask if I am hungry, I nod my head yes and sit down. We eat in silence, but I keep taking glances at Dante. He is good-looking with big muscles, blue eyes, dark hair, and six-pack abs that I would love to stroke my fingers over. Wow, girl, slow down. You don't know him that well yet. I chastised myself, looked back down at my food, and continued eating. When everyone had finished eating, we cleaned up and went outside to feel the sun on our faces and maybe run. I'll ask the guys if we can. I need to be able to run.
