“You two better not be sucking faces.” I sulked at Scotty and Prim.
“Stop acting so jaded. You'd enjoy watching us. Your voyeurism has no bounds. That would be foreplay for you.” Scotty no doubt staring down at Prims lips again.
“It wouldn't be very good foreplay.” I teased Scotty.
Prim actually blushed as if she had forgotten I was sitting with them in the cab, all of us squashed in the back, Prim basically sitting on Scotty’s lap. Scotty stared at me and smirked. I had slurred my words.
“You're just off your game mate. I'm sure you'll be right as rain soon.” I scowled at Scotty he knew why I hadn’t picked anyone up at the club. I was starting to wish I'd gone home with Galaxy. At least he promised to pick up mine and Scotty’s bike. Although Scotty hadn’t made a move on Prim they laughed and joked all night. Prim was actually older than she looked and had a great sense of humour.
“What other tattoos have you got, Scotty?” Prim stroked his bicep.
“If I told you that darlin' then you wouldn't have such fun exploring and finding them all.” Scotty winked again.
Prim giggled. I rolled my eyed and elbowed in his ribs.
“Ah. Fuck.” Scotty keeled over and Prim nursed him. I almost felt sorry for her. In the bar I had nothing to do, but observe the she wolf and it was clear she just wanted someone to notice her. Now the way she is with Scotty, she just seems like she wants someone to love and care. Someone to love her. Why was she like this?
“Prim. What did I tell you in the club about looking for someone decent?” Prim looked over at me she had an expression of pure sadness. Both me and Scotty looked at her.
“I had someone decent.” She whispered and hung her head. We didn’t ask any further questions, we both new deep down.
I looked at Scotty who tried to pull Prim onto his lap. That would have explained her strange behaviour, well may be not the stalking. I had an overwhelming need to comfort her. She curled up into Scotty’s lap, her back to me. Her shoulders shaking. She was clearly crying. I drew circles on her back while Scotty gently rocked her, we could both feel the sadness pouring out of her. That seemed to ease her.
“I'm so sorry.” She looked up at Scotty and tried to smile. She looked over her shoulder to me. “I'm sorry to you as well. Since... well.... I guess I just latched onto you.”
“Why didn’t you say anything Prim? I could have offered you a home. I would have helped. I thought you was just...you know.” She laughed.
“Crazy.” Well she did act crazy. I did buy her a drink after, we even hung out talking, but she even tried to come home with me. I had made my intentions clear from the beginning.
“I'm sorry Prim.” I genuinely was sorry. I didn't mean to hurt the girl. I sort of hated myself at that moment. I don’t ask questions or get to know my acquaintances.
“You can stay with us in the pack house Prim.” She was probably lonely in the city.
“No. You can stay with me. I'll look after you.” Scotty pulled her in closer. “I'll sleep on the couch.” Prim smiled at him and stroked his head.
“I'm really sorry, Prim.” I felt like a huge dickhead.
She laughed. “You didn’t know and the way I acted was well.... I don’t blame you, you were the actual first person to ask my name since I got to the city so I didn’t want to leave you go.” This was more of a lesson for me, being a rogue we built up walls. Never let anyone close. Never let anyone in. It meant people like Prim fell through the net. They needed help and werewolves should help each other, but over the centuries, distrust had divided us. Now I would protect her. My wolf already seeing her as one of our own.
Goddess I acted like a d**k.
We arrive in front of the main pack house, but I didn’t want Prim to be on her own in a strange place. I knew Scotty would keep her safe, but I needed to be sure.
Wait. Why am I feeling like this, so eager to protect. f**k. This better not be something to do with Petra. What if my power is overprotectiveness? That would be so f*****g lame. I groaned. I needed to speak to Petra.
“Hey. All back to mine. Prim you can have the spare room.” Our chalet had two guest rooms since Kate moved straight in with Jack, Kev took the attic conversation. Petra would be in the one guest room so I'd give Prim the other. Scotty held onto Prim tighter. We will talk to Justin tomorrow.
“Who's Justin?” Prim climbed out the car. Held on to Scotty’s hand.
“The Pres.” Prim looked at me confused as we entered my house. “The Alpha.”
“You mean you're going to let me into your pack.” There was hint of concern, but excitement in Prims voice. Sounded like all she wanted was to belong.
Everyone was in bed, to my relief, bringing home another stray she-wolf was not on my agenda. I checked to see what room was empty. The closest one to the kitchen was empty which meant that Petra took the room next to mine.
'Creepy little she-wolf'. I mumbled goodnight to the extra guests and went to bed.
I threw my jacket over my chair, I was starting to feel restless. That's when I noticed a strap had come off the damn thing. “s**t! That could be anywhere.” I stomped around my room before flinging myself onto the king size bed. I didn’t even feel like giving myself a quick tug. I needed tomorrow just to be a normal simple day.
---------------------------------------
The smell of coffee and the sound of plates crashing onto the floor made me shuffle towards the kitchen. Kate and Petra were cleaning up the plates while Jack was yawning, a mug in hand at the table.
Kev scolding the girls.
“I told you pair I had it. Go. Sit.” Kev pointed at the table ushering the girls out. Before I went to join Jack, I heard snoring coming from the living room. Guess Scotty let Prim have the room to herself. What a gentleman. I laughed as I slapped him on the forehead.
“Rise and shine little butterfly.” I licked my little finger and shoved it in his ear lobe.
“Ew. Did you just give me a wet willy?” I burst out laughing. I loved the weird things that Scotty said. We both shuffled to the kitchen, Scotty in his jeans and me in my boxers.
“Boys. There is another girl in the house now. You may want to wear something more appropriate.” Kev handed us mugs of coffee.
“I don’t mind Kev. Something to make fun of.” Petra looked me up and down.
“Don’t start she-wolf.” I grunted at her.
“So who's our guest?” Petra looked at me. I looked back at her in confusion. Then the door behind me opened. We all turned to find Prim in one of my t shirts. It was huge on her tiny frame. A small growl came from the side of me. Scotty. He was looking at Prim.
“This is Prim. She’s staying with us or she’ll move into the clubhouse when accepted into the club.” I need to get Justin down here, but first. “Petra we need to talk.” I gulped down my coffee.
“Like picking up strays don’t you.” Petra gave a glorious smile. “Yes we do need to talk, big guy.”
“Come on Ian.” Petra held onto my hand and escorted me to my room. I sat on the edge of the bed.
“Okay. What would you like to know big man?” She took a seat opposite me.
“Everything.”
“Right. So ... a Moon Luna has powers. A gift from the goddess against the other species that threaten her children. A she-wolf with extraordinary powers. They vary. Some are weapons. Some a defensive. A sword or a shield. I emit a sort of energy, like an electric current and can stun or kill. You have experienced stun mode sweetie.” She laughed. I grimaced at the incident outside the bar. “I am still young so my full powers haven’t developed yet. I am a sword though; I know that I am a weapon so my children are likely to be weapons. Cameron wanted to use me, but after he tor….” Petra stilled. “Well he soon realised that I wouldn’t help him. I have heightened hearing, even compared to werewolves, I heard a guard outside the prison giving instructions to move me to the main house. I knew what was coming. Cameron wanted to mate me. Produce an heir. My child’s power would start to develop at the age of 5. That gave him 5 years to brainwash his own child, turn them into his very own living weapon.”
“Do you know what he is planning?” I looked at Petra who was surrounded in a cloud of anger.
“No. Whatever it is, it’s no good and innocents could die. Poor unexpected innocent werewolves.” She signed. “I am supposed to protect the innocent not use my powers to kill them.” A stray tear run down her face, this was the first I had seen Petra so upset, barriers were diminished, she was showing me her vulnerability.
“Cam aside, Moon Luna’s are rare, why do you think the moon goddess set you now.” Something bigger was happening.
“Something bigger is coming, but it could be in my lifetime or my children’s lifetime. I just feel that I have to be at a certain place and go. Three years ago I was overseas in my home country and I felt that I needed to move west. After two hours of walking, I reached a small friendly werewolf pack, an hour later a clan of vampires attacked, they would have all perished. Man, woman and child. I was there in time.” She smirked at me. “I feel that I have to be in the city, I feel my mate, I feel something…. dark.” She shivered.
“You feel my mate.” It wasn’t really a question, Petra nodded her head. Just as I was about to ask her about the Eclipse wolves, my mate and why I couldn’t see her mark, we both turned to the door, there was a commotion from the kitchen, voices raised.
I ran to the door. I recognised those voices.
Nico had his back to me, Justin had Scotty up against the wall by his throat, growling.
I ran out. “Justin, what the f**k man.”
“MATE.”
