Chapter 18

The Choice

Mason

Mason was staying out of trouble. And staying out of the way. He did not want to stay out of the way. He was just trying hard not to start a fight with his little brother.

His brother truly did care for Hannah and Mimi as Mason cared as well. Mason had no right to step in the middle of what was going on.

Though he wanted to. It was clear Hannah made her choice. She chose Nathan. So he had to be happy with that. He had to move on. After all it was just as well she chose Nathan. He was a danger to others. Hannah could never truly be with him anyway.

Mason sighed. He flipped through the channels on the tv. He had not kept in touch with Nathan. It was better this way. He kept telling himself that.

He only hoped that Nathan would not break Hannah's fragile heart. She did not need another heart ache to happen in her life again so soon. Not after all she had been through before.

Suddenly there was a knock on his door. He wondered who that was. He gets up to answer it. There stood Hannah. She smiled brightly at him.

"Hi there!" she greets him hello.

"Hi" he replies.

"Can I come in?" she asks. He nods as he steps aside to let her in.

"How can I help you?" he asks her.

"Oh I am fine. I came by to check on you and see how your arm is healing up?" she asks as she smiles his way.

"I am doing much better thank you. Is that it?" he wonders as he could not help but smile back at her.

"I come bearing gifts. Here. I made it myself. Mrs. Tolsen said I made far too much. So she let us all take some home for dinner. She demanded I take some home to you" giggles Hannah as she hands him a tuperwear container with warm soup in it.

"Well thank you kindly Hannah. I will enjoy that later. But you really did not need to come in and check up on me. I am a grown man. I can take care of myself" he reminds her as he places the soup on his kitchen counter.

"I know you can. I wanted to have a reason to come by is all. Why have you not come to see me?" she wonders.

"Truthfully? Can't Nathan handle things around there?" he wonders. A hurt look crosses over her face.

He regretted the remark as soon as he heard it from his own lips.

"Never mind. I should not have come over" she stammers.

She heads out to leave. He stops her.

"Look I am sorry. Really, thank you for the soup" he tells her as she looks up at him. She nods.

"I am going to go" she says softly. He nods.

"Hannah?" he stops her from leaving.

Why had she come? What was she hoping to gain by seeing him again? Was he important to her at all? She gazes into his eyes. A confused look upon her pretty face. Those lips were begging him to kiss her again. His body ached to.

Before he knew what he was doing he leans in. Kisses her. His lips fall to hers. He hungrily kisses her. Her arms wrap around his neck. Pulling her closer to his body.

She seemed to fit perfectly with his own. She was not his brothers. She was his. He could tell she was wanting him as equally as he wanted her. Confusion set in. He tries to push it aside. The moment was his.

"Mason!" she whispers softly. "Why did you push me away?"

He could not find his words. He kisses her not wanting the moment to end for them yet.

"You are with my brother" he remarks coldly.

"But you never even bothered to ask me out. You never tried" she accuses.

It was true. He had been giving her what he thought she had needed. Space. Time. Maybe she needed him after all?

"I thought you needed time to you" he remarks softly as he gazes into her eyes.

"Are you sure that is why you did not ask? Mason, tell me the truth. Are you afraid you will end up hurting me?" she demands to know. He winces at the remark.

"Mason" she questions again.

"My brother told you that didn't he?" demands Mason. She nods.

"So he had? Mason, what about what I want? Or do I not count?" she wonders.

"What do you want? What do you really want Hannah? Or whom do you want? Me or my brother Nathan?" Mason demands to know. She gazes up into his eyes. She smiles as she touches his cheek.

"I wish I could have you both. But we both know I can't do that" she says softly.

"No you have to choose Hannah. My brother or me. You cannont have us both" Mason tells her softly.

He leans in and kisses her. With all the feelings he had been holding back for her inside. Passion.

"I know this, if you pick Nathan you are picking the wrong brother for you" he vows before he sends her on home to think about what she really wanted.

Later on that night Mason transformed into Fearless. He needed to head out to explore. Get a fresh intake on his life. He began to run. Freely into the woods. The fresh air hit him nicely.

"Brother" he hears someone call out.

Nathan stood behind him. Reckless.

Mason ignored him and began to run into the woods. Nathan follows.

Nathan sneaks up on Mason. Leaps up from behind and pins Mason down.

"Why are you ignoring me?" demands Nathan.

"Why should I tell you? You know why?" Mason mentally tells Nathan.

"Look you never bothered to ask her out. I did. Was that so wrong?" Nathan challenges. "Maybe if you wanted her so badly you would have asked her out"

"Shut up. Go away!" snaps Mason.

He and Nathan get a bit to ruff with one another. A fight begins with two brothers. Over a girl they both loved. Mason pins Nathan down in the snow.

"GO!" demands Mason angrily. Nathan does as he was told. He runs away. Mason watches. He takes off back into the woods. He has a good run up on the mountain.

Then heads back home. Someone was around the side of Hannah and Mimi's home again. Mason could hear them walking in the snow. Mason snarls preparing for another attack.

He had been shot before. But he would do what he had to protect them both. He loved them. Mason sneaks around the corner.

Something sharp dug into his right front paw making Mason yelp in pain. He was caught by a hunter.

"I knew you would come back. I know what you are" someone laughs. Mason cowers back.

"SO Mason, I know some people who would pay a pretty penny for some real werewolves. Looks like I hit the jack pot" says the man as he traps a cage around Mason's whole body. Mason snarls as he tries to find a way out of the cage.

"Where is that brother of yours? He around here too? I saw you transform the other night in front of Hannah. I have her whole place bugged. Brilliant huh?" chuckles the man. Mason looks up to see he was captured by PAUL!

"I have to get the brother. I will make more from you two then I did killing my own brother" chuckles Paul as he picks up the cage Mason was in and carries him away.
