Chapter 9

1522 Words
The Plot Thickens Mason Mason was worried about Hannah. After what she had told Fearless the night before. What could he do about it? It was not like she was sharing things with him? Maybe this was what the ghost had been warning him about all along. Was this ghost Hannah's husband who had gotten killed? Was that why this spirit so urgent for him to save them? Was someone going to try to kill Hannah and Mimi? Mason was never going to allow that. Not if he could help it. Fearless would keep her safe. ♥☆♥☆♥ "Brother you wanted to have lunch? What a surprise! Is it to ward me off of Hannah?" Nathan chuckles as he comes in the little deli to have lunch with Mason that day. "No, actually I did want to talk about Hannah. But she needs us both" Mason explains. "Sounds serious" Nathan says as he sits down in front of him. "Can I grab a sub? I am starving. I can grab us both something in line" Nathan offers. "No thanks. Go ahead!" sighs Mason. Nathan nods as he goes to get in line for his lunch. Mason pondered his thoughts and all the things the ghost had once said to him. "Save them!" "And you have to keep them safe. I sent them to you" So the ghost knew he was a wolf? And could keep them safe? That part did make sense. Hannah mentioned her husband had wanted to go to Alaska for a long time. But why? How could he have known Mason was a wolf? It did not add up. His phone rang. It was actually his little sister from Hawaii. She would have to wait though. He had a matter to discuss with Nathan. An important one. ♥☆♥☆♥  "Nothing better than a steak sub" Nathan sighs as he sips on his drink when he comes to sit back down at the table. "Alright little brother I need you to focus here" Mason demands. "Okay tell me. What is going on here?" Nathan demands to know in return. "I have been sought out by a spirit to protect his family" Mason begins to explain. "More spirits? I have not saw one in a long time" Nathan remarks. "This one comes to me every night. Begging me to save someone. But I think I know who is to be saved" Mason begins to explain. "Who?!" wonders Nathan curiously. "Hannah!!" states Mason. Nathan spits out his drink. ♥☆♥☆♥ "What? You think she is in danger? Why?!" wonders Nathan. "Because she told me she was. Well she told Fearless" he sighs. "Oh wow. When and how did this happen?" Nathan demands to know. "I went to check up on her one night. She was up late. She told me everything. Why she came out here to Alaska. How scared she was. I feel so helpless. I mean Fearless can help at night. But what if something happens during the day? How am I going to help her? This spirit comes to me at night demanding I keep them safe. Telling me that he sent them to me to keep them safe" explains Mason. "Deep. So what exactly is Hannah running from again?" Nathan wants to know. "A killer. Someone killed her husband. He had been a cop back in Florida. So she up and moved out here because her husband had always wanted to move out here, is what she told me" says Mason. "Poor thing" sighs Nathan. "Yes she has a lot going on. We need to protect her. Not seek after her heart. Got it little brother?" demands Mason. "I will keep her safe. I will do whatever it takes. She is a nice lady. I don't want anything bad to happen to them. How do we get her to tell us what is going on? If we know more we can help more" Nathan points out. "That was what I was thinking myself. But the thing is I do not know how to" grumbles Mason. "There has to be a way to get Miss. Hannah to confide in us" Nathan says looking thoughtfully. "Give her some time. Maybe she will" says Mason. Nathan's phone rings. ♥☆♥☆♥ He looks down. "Speaking of Hannah. She is calling now. Hang on" Nathan tells his brother. "Hannah? Hey I am at lunch with Mason right now. Sure I can pick up lunch for Mrs. Tolsen and what about you? Alright what would you like? Okay I am at the little deli on Fifth Street...sure...okay. See you soon bye" Nathan soon hangs up. "Hannah says hello" Nathan tells Mason. "We have to get to know her better. Get her to trust us. The more she is around us the more we can keep them safe" says Mason. "Look at this" Nathan demands to Mason as he looks up something on his iPhone. Mason peeks over on his brothers phone to see what he was reading. It was about the murder of Hannah's husband back in Florida. ♥☆♥☆♥ "Cold Blooded Cop Killer On The Loose" it read on the headlines. Late in the night Hannah Ryder wife of Carlos Ryder 34 years of age was found lying in a pool of his own blood in the back yard of his own home. Mrs. Ryder had found her beloved husband there dead and called 911. It read that the killer was still on the loose. That Officer Ryder had been on a case that would have exposed drug dealers. That he arrested a group around his area all in one month. He was named a hero. "Poor Hannah!" sighs Mason after he reads all on Carlos and Hannah. How horrid to find your loved one was killed right at home! "Poor Hannah and Mimi. We have to keep this killer away from her. Think they will be able to find her?" wonders Nathan. "I hope not. But this is a dangerous killer. He or she killed the cop right in his own home!" Mason points out. "They had balls" "I have an idea. Come with me to drop off lunch. Make small talk. Let's invite them over to have dinner at your place" offers Nathan. "Maybe she will open up to us more" "You think it will work?" wonders Mason. "It won't hurt to try" says Nathan. "Alright. I can follow you over to your job. I am off today anyway" Mason tells him. Nathan nods. "Ready to go?" Nathan asks him once he polishes off his lunch and had gotten lunch for Mrs. Tolsen and Hannah. "Ready!" says Mason.  ♥☆♥☆♥ They go to get in their cars. Then Mason follows Nathan over to the bed and breakfast inn where he worked with Hannah. Mason parks his car in the front like Mrs. Tolsen liked. Mason locked his car before heading on inside. "Mason Iris! What a nice surprise!" Mrs. Tolsen declares happily looking pleased to see him come in with Nathan. "I came by on my day off to offer my help to Nathan. I figured you could use an extra pair of hands" Mason says cheerfully to her as she hugs him. "It is always good to see you Mason! Miss. Ryder two for the price of one! Look at that" chuckles a pleased Mrs. Tolsen. "I see that! Hello there Mason!" greets Hannah cheerfully. Her pretty smile beamed his way. He could not help but smile. How could anyone want to hurt her? ♥☆♥☆♥ "Hi Hannah! Where is Mimi?" he asks. "At school still" says Hannah. "Oh yes, I forgot" he says. "Thank you for lunch Nathan! You are a god send! I forgot mine this morning! I am starving!" sighs Hannah once Nathan passed out the lunches. "Not a problem, glad to help. I got your order right didn't I?" wonders Nathan. "Sure did! Thanks a million. I will owe you one" jokes Hannah. Mason gives Nathan a look like ask her. Nathan nods. "Say Hannah could I ask you something?" wonders Nathan. "Ask away" says Hannah. "Mason here was having a small dinner party at his place. We were wondering if you and Mimi would like to join us?" asks Nathan. Hannah looks up and smiles. "You sure you want a child at the party?" she worries. "The more the merrier" Mason promises her. "Alright. Sure. How can I say no to a free dinner" she laughs. Mason smiles. ♥☆♥☆♥ "Great! See you tonight around seven pm?" he offers. "Sounds great. Want me to bring anything?" she asks. "Just your smiling face will do just fine" Mason replies. She smiles at that. Things were working. Going according to plan. They were slowly getting to know Hannah. Hopefully they would be able to gain her trust, and be able to help her and Mimi. This plan had to work. ♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥
