Alya’s POV
The things I experienced in the past month left me unsure of how to react. I had collaborated with Şahin to save my sister by offering my body to a man in exchange for a file. As if that wasn't enough, I had gotten pregnant by that ruthless mafia boss.
The baby in my womb had done nothing wrong. He was the most innocent one in this story. A flower of innocence blooming in the midst of our sin-full night. I used to tell myself I was innocent too, but that innocence was long gone.
The man in front of me would never give up and would unleash all his fury on me. After this, my life would never be the same. It was bad before, now it would be even worse. A person's fate is written the day they're born and cannot be erased.
As Demir continued to glare at me, a tear escaped my left eye, but he didn't even care. My tears didn't even cause a flicker of emotion on his face. Was it that easy to kill a person? It was easy for him because he was Demir Sertsoy. He grabbed my arm and dragged me to the car. As we got in, I knew we were going to his house. He had already told me.
What would happen to my sister? If I told him, would he help us? I would do anything if necessary. I had already given him everything. Nothing would be too much for someone whose soul was already dead.
"Tell me!"
How did he understand? Demir was more intelligent than I thought. And harsh. I was afraid to even talk to him. How did I end up with this man?
"Alya, tell me! Stop looking at me with those pitiful eyes! Don't you dare try to manipulate me!"
I licked my lips. My heart was pounding with fear. "Şahin will hurt my sister. I don't trust him. Please help us. I'll do anything you ask," I pleaded.
He gritted his teeth. I already knew he wouldn't help. I just wanted to ask, hoping for a miracle. "What am I, a charity? What makes you think I would help you? You're only alive because of the baby, otherwise you wouldn't stand a chance!" he said.
I was afraid he would say the baby wasn't his and end up shooting me in the head, but he believed the pregnancy was his. Demir was truly difficult to understand.
"As for Şahin, I still don't believe you. Why would I help? I don't care about you or your sister. Let this be a lesson; you'll pay the price for your wrong decision!" His words confirmed he was a ruthless man.
With tears streaming down my face, I avoided his gaze and turned my head towards the window. I knew the place I was going to would be my prison.
Soon after, we arrived in a compound with walls like a fortress. There were two separate buildings that looked like a palace. The two houses were the same, but the car stopped in front of the one which was painted white. There were guards all around, which wasn’t surprising. The car door opened and Demir got out first. Then he grabbed my arm and pulled me out. He didn't even give me a chance to look around as we walked towards the house.
"Demir!" I heard a woman's voice, which startled me. I couldn't bear it if Demir got angry at me for that too.
"What is it, Aliye?" he asked in an irritated tone.
"Who is that woman next to you? What's going on?"
"Mind your own business! Don't poke your nose into things that don't concern you! Else it might just be cut off!" He threatened the woman.
Then I heard a man's voice. I still couldn't bring myself to look up. Demir was holding my arm tightly.
"Demir, what's going on? Who is that girl?"
"Brother, can we talk later? Get your wife off my back!" he said, dragging me inside without even offering them an explanation.
They were his brother and sister-in-law. For a moment, I thought that woman was his wife or something. Anything was possible with Demir.
The inside was exactly as I had imagined. It could be compared to a royal palace. As the staff stared at us, Demir, without saying a word, started dragging me up the stairs. He was exacting so much pressure on my arm, and didn't seem to care about inflicting pain on me, all that mattered to him was the baby.
When we got to a room, he released my arm. I braced myself for him to throw me to the floor, but he didn't. He nodded towards the bed and I nervously sat on the edge, while he stood before me. I was afraid to meet his gaze.
"Look at me!" he commanded, and I raised my head.
"Listen carefully to what I'm about to tell you. In fact, etch it into your brain! From now on, you will only leave this house for doctor’s appointments. Other than that, I don't want you to even leave this room except for meal times."
I nodded. Nothing I said would change anything. I was at the mercy of this heartless man. Then he continued, "Except for my brother and sister-in-law, no one else in my family will know about you!"
"But what about when the baby is born?" I asked.
He frowned. "What about it? Why do you even care? You'll be long gone by then anyway! You... Don't bother your pretty little head with such things! Just take good care of my baby, that's all that matters!"
He was right. I have been forced to come here, staring death in the face, and would only leave after nine months. In fact, I was the one who made myself a prisoner to him.
"I don't want you making any mistakes. I don't like people who make mistakes! You will come when I call, you will go when I tell you to. When I call your name, you will be by my side in an instant!"
He now sees me as a puppet, while he was the master who would control my every move and restrict my every action. He didn't care about my dignity.
"When I tell you to moan under me, you will moan!" he said, making me gulp.
That made me uncomfortable. He was already like fire. Just as I was about to say something, he raised his hand, silencing me.
"Don't! Not a word! Didn't you sell yourself to me for that file? I don't think it will be a problem for you. You'll be a w***e for the next eight months, warming my bed whenever I please!"
His words were hurtful and made my eyes well up in tears. He stepped closer and cupped my chin, his thumb stroking my lower lip, sending a shiver down my spine. Whatever he did to me that night, my body was now enslaved to him.
"You tremble the moment I touch you, Alya! I don't think you'll disobey me, because you're like a gazelle facing a lion. If you make a mistake, I will make you moan under me! Just like that night..." he whispered.
While he kept caressing my lower lip, he said, "Don't you dare question my orders, Alya! You'll be the one who gets hurt!" Then he released my chin and I took a deep breath. His touch had left me shaken and terrified.
Demir gave me one last look before leaving the room. I lay down on the bed, taking deep breaths to calm my nerves. What will I do? I was trapped. I placed my hand on my stomach and began to caress it.
"I'm sorry. This is the only way we'll know each other, just for nine months. I'll be gone, and you'll move on with your life. Demir will probably never tell you about me," I said sadly.
For a moment, I felt terrible. I would bring a baby into the world but wouldn't be able to see him grow up. The thought of it made tears well up in my eyes. "How can I ever leave you? Demir will never go back on his word. I'm sorry, I dragged you into this huge mess too."
As I continued to caress my stomach, I felt sorry for my baby. His father was ruthless. No one can choose their parents. "You'll grow up an orphan, just like me. They say children live out their mothers' fates," I said, choking back tears.
Everything had happened so fast that this was the first time I was even talking to my baby. I had no one but him. This house was my hell. "I'll do everything for you to be born. I'll always love you very much," I said, wrapping my arms around my stomach.
Just as I was about to drift off to sleep, I heard loud voices coming from downstairs. I immediately got up and pressed my ear against the door. I could hear the voice of the man he called brother. He was furious.
"Demir, what are you talking about? What do you mean she's pregnant? Are you out of your mind? How many times have I told you to be careful! I learned my lesson. I told you not to make the same mistake! If only you had listened to me once! How could you do this?" he roared.
What did he mean by "I learned my lesson"? Did he have to marry the woman he got pregnant because of a similar situation? I was afraid they would hear me if I opened the door. They were already shouting at each other. I could hear them very clearly.
"Enough, brother! I am not you!" Demir retorted, and then there was a crashing sound. They were both incredibly stubborn.
"You're not me, but you're about to live my fate, Demir! That girl is pregnant, and unfortunately, your end is set! How could you be so reckless?"
"Brother, I'm not going to marry Alya! I'm not like you in that regard! So, what if she's pregnant? Don't make such a big deal out of it! It's my baby!"
He didn't mention the file. I didn't know why, because he was keeping it a secret. Only his friend Mirza knew about it.
His brother started laughing. "Demir, are you drunk or something? What will our parents say if they find out? Especially Dad, he'll want you to get married right away! Wait a minute, how do you even know she's pregnant by you?"
"I know, brother, because that girl's first time was with me, and this only concerns me. If I say it's my baby, then it's my baby. I don't want you interfering in this matter. Keep your unsolicited advice to yourself! And warn your wife to stay out of it. Our parents won't find out about Alya! If somehow they do, I'll know it was from you two, especially Aliye!"
There was the sound of clapping. "Classic Demir! Let's see how long you can keep this under wraps. Is this something you can even hide? This won't end well, Demir! Let's say you don't tell anyone. What will happen when the child is born?"
"I'll figure it out then, brother! Why are you so worked up?"
"Why am I worked up? Demir, do you want Dad to have a heart attack? What about the promises that were made? What will happen if they find out?"
What promises? I listened intently; my curiosity piqued. Demir was full of secrets. It was evident even in his gaze. He was far from ordinary.
"No one will find out, I'm telling you, brother! Now leave me alone! I'll handle it!"
"Yes, yes. You'll handle it, of course. Especially while you're engaged!" he said, and it felt like someone had poured a bucket of ice water over my head.
Demir was engaged? What kind of mess had I gotten myself into? I felt suffocated, it seemed more difficult days were ahead of me.

Betül’s POV
As I left work and headed home, I stopped by the market to pick up some of Alya's favorite fruits. She was pregnant and needed to eat healthily. It made me to smile in irony. I was going to be an aunt; I was ready to do anything for my niece or nephew. We were going to move somewhere far from Istanbul soon. A smaller, quieter town. A peaceful place where no one could find us. I didn't want my niece or nephew to experience these problems.
When I got home, I saw Aunt Hasibe crying in the garden, and a wave of anxiety washed over me. Alya wasn't there either. Had something happened to her? I dropped the bags in my hands on the ground and ran towards her.
"Aunt Hasibe!" I called. She looked up at me and started sobbing uncontrollably.
"What happened?" I asked.
"They took Alya!"
It felt like someone had poured boiling water over my head. This was impossible. I shook my head. We were supposed to leave.
"How did they take her? Aunt Hasibe, what are you saying?"
"Those men in suits came again and took her away!"
I hugged her tightly. Our world was falling apart. Demir must have found out about the file and the pregnancy. He would never let me see my sister again. Maybe he had even killed her and the unborn baby. I prayed that wasn't the case. I had first heard that man's name from Şahin, who always described him as ruthless. He showed no mercy to anyone. I had to do something. So I suddenly stood up.
"What's wrong, dear?"
"I'm going to that man's house!" I said, and she looked at me in fear.
"Don't do it, dear! You know how dangerous that man is! Don't go!" she pleaded, but I was determined. I had to go.
"Aunt Hasibe, they took Alya because of me, so I can’t leave her there. You know how delicate Alya is. She paid the price for my freedom. Now it's my turn to repay for what she did. I'll even sacrifice myself for her."
Aunt Hasibe didn't understand, but she held onto my arm. "Don't do it, dear! We'll go to the police."
I shook my head. "The police? Aunt Hasibe, are you serious? Those men are so powerful, the police can't touch them. If we file a complaint, they'll be at our doorstep in two hours to kill us."
Aunt Hasibe looked at me with fear, as she clung to my arm. "Let's go to Müge Anlı. She'll find Alya for us."
Seriously? At a time like this? "Müge Anlı? Aunt Hasibe, are you trying to get the show canceled? Let me go. At least we'll find out if she's alive," I said, and she finally let go of my arm.
We had no other choice. I ushered Aunt Hasibe back into the house. As I was leaving, I said, "If I don't come back, forget about me! Don't try to come after me! I don't want you to get hurt too!" She cried, but she eventually gave me her blessing, and I left.
Fortunately, I knew where Demir Sertsoy lives, because last year, I worked as a waitress at his brother's son's birthday party. I couldn't remember his name, but his wife was a real piece of work. She kept yelling and screaming at everyone. It was a remote location, but I could get there quickly by taxi. But what would I say when I got there?
I was trying to figure that out when I got off the taxi a bit further down the road from the house. As I approached, I noticed the guards patrolling the perimeter. The house was like a fortress and suited for someone so powerful. As I got closer, the guards immediately stopped me.
"What are you doing here?" asked a dark-skinned guard with a frown on his face.
What was I going to say? "I'm here to..."
A blond-haired guard stepped forward. "Are you the nanny who's supposed to come for an interview today?" he asked.
I immediately nodded. This was the luckiest break I had ever had. I silently thanked my lucky stars as the two guards searched me. They had some kind of device in their hands. I think it was an X-ray machine. After scanning me and making sure I wasn't carrying anything dangerous, they let me in, and two other guards escorted me inside.
I looked around, but there was no one else around. They took me to the house on the right. I saw that woman I disliked so much and had to stop myself from grimacing. With her fake platinum blonde hair and a face that screamed plastic surgery, she was the kind of woman who wore high heels even at home. She seemed to be obsessed with her lifestyle.
She gave me a sideways glance. "Who are you?" she asked.
She clearly didn't like me. She was looking at my clothes like they were rags. "I'm here for the nanny job interview," I said, and she pointed to the seat across from her. "Begin!" she said, without even looking at me.
"My name is Betül. I'm twenty-nine years old. I have a lot of work experience. I also speak English and French," I said. She looked up at me, surprised. I guess she wasn't expecting that. She raised her eyebrows.
A blond-haired, blue-eyed man entered the room. He looked at me questioningly, and the woman stood up. "Honey, you're home. The nanny candidate is here," she said, and the man nodded.
"I'm Dinçer," he said, extending his hand. I couldn't help but feel a shiver run down my spine as our hands met. There was something strange about his gaze, so I quickly withdrew my hand. "Betül," I said, sitting back down.
They asked me a few more questions. I was terrified they were going to ask for my CV and references. Thankfully, they didn't. As Mr. Dinçer stood up, he said, "Leave your number with the guards on your way out. We'll be in touch." I shook both of their hands, but the woman barely touched mine, as if I disgusted her.
I fought the urge to roll my eyes as I left the house with the guards. Just then, a car pulled up and Demir got out. As the guards escorted me outside, I saw Alya. He hadn't killed her. I had to find a way back into this house.
I was so happy she was alive. As I was leaving, I gave my number to the guard. I hoped they would call. Taking a deep breath, I started walking away from the house. It was a very secluded area. I hadn't seen a single car pass by since we left the city center. How did they live here?
As I kept walking, I didn't feel like going home at the moment, so I found a spot on the beach and sat down. As tears streamed down my face, I looked up at the sky and prayed, "God, please don't let anything happen to my sister! Please!"
Just then, I got a text message.
When I saw who the message was from, I felt sick to my stomach.
“My love, I can't stop thinking about you. You're always on my mind. I hope you didn't think I would leave you. I'll never let you go!”
The message was from none other than Şahin.
