Demir’s POV
My name is Demir Sertsoy, but everyone knows me as darkness... Darker than the night itself, a darkness that brings even the shadows to their knees...
The person who gave me this nickname was my closest friend, Mirza Hanoğlu, known as the Master of Darkness.
One night, we found ourselves in the middle of a conflict. The man we were confronted with claimed to be ruthless, but he was nothing compared to us. When he smiled arrogantly at us and asked;
"Who are you?"
Mirza laughed and raised his eyebrows. "I'm the Master of Darkness, and he's Darkness!" he replied.
From that day on, everyone knew we were the rulers of the night. After we took down the man, Mirza put his hand on my shoulder, and said;
"If I'm darkness, then so are you! From now on, the nights belong to us, Darkness!" And so, my nickname came about. Every moment we spent together was night, was savagery.
So, who was Demir Sertsoy, really?
A man whose mere mention made everyone stand at attention, a man no one dared to touch... I didn't even like to be touched during s*x; I would bind my partners' hands, get my satisfaction and send them away once I was done... No one dared to speak to me, but Alya had touched me. Shouldn't she have known better? I despised being touched without permission. Alya had spilled her drink on me and then tried to wipe it off with a napkin.
For the first time, I enjoyed being touched by a woman. Watching her nervous and shy movements made me even harder. I wasn't foolish enough to fall in love with a woman, but her body drew me in.
The other night, while making love, our bodies became prisoners to each other. Imprisoned Bodies... Her touch, her inexperienced kisses... It aroused me even more. Especially her virginity... Normally, I wouldn't touch a woman for the second time after I have had her, but with her, I could make love to her hundreds of times. Her singular touch had captivated me.
When I opened my eyes in the morning, I reached out to the side. I hadn't kicked her out of the room last night because I planned to have another round in the bathroom. I noticed the other side of the bed was empty. My brows furrowed. Where was she? I quickly got out of bed and got dressed.
"Where's the girl?" I asked the man that was standing at the door.
"Boss, she left last night. We thought you sent her away, so we didn't intervene," he replied, making my brows knit even tighter.
"Find that girl immediately!" I ordered.
"Yes, boss."
As he left, I returned to the room. Running my hands through my hair, I couldn't understand why I was so fixated on this girl. The reason was obvious. There was something about her body that drew me in. As I waited, I decided to take a shower. She would pay the price for leaving me in the room. After the shower, I put on my suit.
As I was putting on my watch, my phone rang. My brows furrowed because it was an unknown number. Nevertheless, I answered immediately.
"Demir, or should I say darkness!" The voice was none other than Şahin.
He must have a reason for calling me.
"You son of a b***h! How dare you call me? Are you tired of living? I'll destroy you." I threatened him, but he laughed. It was a triumphant laugh. Something was definitely up.
"Don't be so sure. You never know who will destroy whom, darkness!" he replied.
"What are you saying, you bastard? Are you threatening me with that tiny brain of yours?"
Şahin never spoke without reason. It was clear he had done something again. Despite the heavy price he paid for deceiving us in the past, he hasn’t given up.
"I never speak without reason, Demir! You know me!" he said, making me grit my teeth.
This bastard had once partnered with us, using our name to launder money and smuggle goods, and deceiving the state. My brother Dinçer, who ran the company, had discovered his betrayal and humiliated him in front of everyone. We had severed all ties with him, but he had grown and continued to pose a threat, thanks to other enemies we had made.
"Speak clearly, Şahin! Or I'll find you wherever you are and f**k you and your backers!"
Şahin's laughter grated on my ears, further fraying my nerves.
"Will you still be this brave? Will those men you trust in the government still be able to help you? You think you rule over everyone, but those days are over, Sultan Süleyman!" he said, making my left-hand clench into a fist.
He continued, "I have the file that no one could find and take from you, darkness! Even if it's a copy, if it reaches the state, you're finished. The documents proving I laundered money through your company, with your brother's signature..."
How could this be? It was impossible for him to have it. The copy of that file was in this room. We had taken every measure to cover it up with Mirza. But if that file was in his hands, things would not go well.
"You're lying, Şahin!" I said, but he chuckled.
"I can send you a photo if you want. I'm holding it right now."
The file was supposed to be in this room. I checked immediately, but it was gone. Someone had taken it from here. He was right. The file was in his hands. How could he have done this?
"You f*****g bastard! I'll find you and make you eat that file."
My mind had stopped functioning. Because of that bastard's words, the state could seize everything we own. There was no proof of what Şahin had done. That bastard wouldn't stop threatening us, but I couldn't stop either. I will kill him. I would make sure of that.
He laughed. "Demir, aren't you curious how I did it?"
"Şahin, I swear I'll kill you! You won't even have the time to say your last prayer, for making this call!"
As I threatened him, he said something completely unrelated. "Ah, Demir, women always take over our minds. It seems they've taken over yours too."
My brows furrowed deeply. What woman was he talking about? Where did this come from? I tried to piece together what he was saying. I thought for a moment.
"Şahin, I'll find out where you are! The price for threatening me will be high! We'll meet soon!"
"Let's meet, Demir!" he said and hung up.
Everything suddenly clicked like pieces of a puzzle. It was Alya. She had taken the file from me. I gritted my teeth. I should have known. A virgin girl offering herself to me so quickly was too good to be true. Şahin had sent her into my den. I swept everything off my desk in anger.
"Damn it!" I shouted.
My men immediately entered. "I want all the camera footage from last night! And bring me Alya's file!" I ordered.
I called Mirza and asked him to come immediately. I will find that girl right away. She would return the file she had taken from me and then she would die. Anyone who dared to cross darkness met their end. I left the room and went to my office inside the club.
Shortly afterwards, the camera footage and Alya's file were delivered to me. It was clear in the footage that she had something in her hand and had left immediately... How could my foolish men not have noticed this? I read her file and found out that she had grown up in an orphanage but now lives with a woman named Betül. Her home address was listed as well.
"Go to this address and bring that girl to me, alive!" I ordered, and also instructed others to search for Şahin. If they brought the girl earlier, she would have to reveal Şahin's location to them.
As soon as my men left, Mirza arrived. After I briefly explained what had happened, his brows furrowed in confusion. "What was that file doing in the room, Demir? Are you insane? You've made a big mistake!"
"You're right. How could I have known? Alya has been working here for a long time."
Mirza continued to stroke his beard as he looked at the file. "Demir, there are two possibilities. Either this girl had been Şahin's pawn from the beginning, or he used her as a one-time tool. The girl is an orphan, she has no one. That night..."
I cut him off. "Mirza, please stop. No matter what, she stole the file from me, don't expect me to show her mercy."
He nodded. "Not mercy, just don't do anything rash before knowing the truth. Let's get the girl and find out the real story," he said, and I agreed.
We called the personnel manager and asked about Alya. "Alya is one of our most diligent workers. She always expressed her desire to stay away from you. I was the one who chose her that night."
I signaled for him to leave. Mirza said, "This girl clearly has a mystery. If she wanted to get close to you, she wouldn't have waited until now. She would have come to you earlier and taken that file under other circumstances. Why now?"
"Could it be because Şahin was in prison? Without the help of the group that calls themselves the Thunderbolts, he would never have gotten out. It was proven that he laundered money not only through my company but also through his own."
Mirza thought for a while longer. "You're right, but let's continue investigating the reason."
As we continued our investigation into Alya, everyone had good things to say about her. Soon, my men returned. Alya was not with them.
"Where is the girl?" I asked.
"Boss, they've left."
I gritted my teeth. "Then go, find her! What are you waiting for? I want that girl alive!"
One month later…
For a month, they hadn't been able to find her anywhere. I had sent men to all eighty-one provinces of Turkey, but she was nowhere to be found. It meant she was definitely hiding in that neighborhood. A few of my men were still keeping watch over the area. That bastard, Şahin, was under the protection of the Thunderbolts, so we havent been able to capture him either.
We wouldn't have peace until we brought down the Thunderbolts. We were making plans with the state to dismantle that organization. They were smuggling weapons across the border, and we have to put a stop to it. Just the other day, they had helped orchestrate a bombing. Joint operations with state intelligence were ongoing.
As I sat in my office, the lack of news about Şahin was making me more anxious. One of my men came in.
"Boss, we found the girl. She never left that neighborhood. We saw her sister leaving the house today."
I immediately stood up. "We're going right now. This time, I'm coming too. We can't let that girl slip through our fingers!"
I informed Mirza that I had found the girl. When we arrived in the neighborhood, I saw Alya trying to escape. When I caught up to her, we put a sack over her head and forced her into the car. When we took her to the warehouse, she, of course, denied everything, but her last words made me freeze. She claimed to be pregnant. I didn't say anything for a while. In fact, everyone was silent. Alya was looking at me with tears in her eyes.
"Are you lying to me to save yourself? What do you mean you're pregnant?"
She shook her head. Was she telling the truth?
"I swear, I'm pregnant. I'm carrying your baby! There was no one else."
"You stole a file from me! And now you say you're pregnant? I don't believe you!" I shouted.
I couldn't believe such a thing. They were playing with me again.
"I'll tell you everything!" she said, making my brows furrow even more.
This couldn't be. It shouldn't be. "Alya, you're still lying to my face!"
"Listen to me just once. Afterward, you can shoot me in the head, not minding that I'm carrying your baby. I have nothing left to lose," she said.
When I glanced at Mirza, he looked quite surprised but nodded at me. He wanted to hear what she had to say. In fact, I was curious too.
"Talk!" I said, looking at her tear-streaked face. She seemed broken.
"Yes, I stole the file. I lied to you and ran away because I was scared. I stole the file to get rid of Şahin! He tried to molest my adoptive sister. Then he wouldn't leave her alone. We thought we were safe when he went to prison, but he got out. He found us again and said he would leave us alone in exchange for that file. I did it all for my sister. Then I found out I was pregnant."
I started laughing. "Do you expect me to believe this story? And even if it's true, don't expect me to pity you! By stealing that file from me, you became my greatest enemy!"
I signaled to my men and they untied Alya. I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her close. Her scent was messing with my senses again. Through gritted teeth, I said,
"Now we're going to the doctor. We'll find out if you're really pregnant or not!"
I dragged her to the car by her arm. We were going to a private clinic. As I got into the car, Mirza grabbed my arm. "What will you do if she's pregnant?"
"I don't know, but I think she's lying!"
"If she's not lying, don't even think about getting rid of the baby! That baby is innocent!"
"Don't be ridiculous, Mirza! My family wants a baby from me. Do you think I'd get rid of it? If she's pregnant, the course is clear."
Mirza released my arm. "Keep me informed."
I nodded. She kept her head down the entire way to the clinic. When we arrived, I dragged her inside by the arm. She hadn't made a sound once. The doctor, who had been informed earlier, took us in immediately. He first did a blood test. Then he performed an ultrasound.
As he looked at the ultrasound, I impatiently asked, "Is she pregnant?"
The doctor nodded. "Yes, she's one month pregnant," he said.
What would happen next was clear. The baby was definitely mine. She was a virgin, and we were together a month ago. After the blood test, the doctor prescribed some medication for Alya. Neither of us said a word. I was at a loss for what to think, but what I had to do was clear.
When we left the doctor's office, she pleaded with me, "Please, let's not get rid of it. It's still so small! I'll do anything you want!" She pleaded.
"Enough!" I shouted.
She looked at me in fear as I grabbed her by both arms and pulled her close. "I'm not cruel enough to get rid of my baby. My issue isn't with the baby, it's with you!" I said, and she looked at me with a mix of relief and sorrow. She remained silent.
"Don't think you're off the hook, Alya! Even if you're pregnant, you'll pay the price for stealing that file from me!"
If she thought I would spare her, she was mistaken. Just because she was pregnant didn't mean I would go easy on her. After what I plan to do to her, she would wish she were dead. She would die, but not now.
"From now on, you'll live in my house, under my rules! Do you understand?"
She was crying. I lifted her chin. Our eyes met. "Answer me! At least nod your head!" I said, and she nodded.
"Oh, and by the way, I'm serious about what I said earlier. Don't think you're off the hook! You're not, Alya!"
Stuttering, she asked, "What do you mean?"
She was scared. She should be very scared.
Looking directly into her eyes, I said,
"I'm not killing you now, but after you give birth to my baby, I will kill you, Alya!"
