Chapter 5
After the exhausting day with Ella, I went back to the villa.
I headed straight to my room, intending to lie down and sleep, when my mum walked in.
"Hey, baby," she said as she sat on the edge of the bed.
"Hey, Mum. How's everything going?" I asked, trying to arrange my books on the table.
"Everything is fine, dear. So, how's your new tutor? Have you suddenly taken a liking to him? You know, he's almost your age, though he's two years older than you."
I knew Mum was trying to start something, but I chose to ignore it.
I had been trying to come up with a lie, but instead, I simply said,
"Mum, he's okay."
I kept my answer short because I knew I needed to find out something first before deciding to send him away.
"Don't worry. Just manage for this year. After that, you won't need a tutor anymore."
Mum smiled.
I walked over to her, held both of her hands, and smiled.
"Mum, don't worry about me. I'll be fine. He may not last anyway."
She looked at me in disbelief before replying,
"Don't worry. This one will last. Trust me."
I honestly didn't know why everyone thought he would be different.
Was it because of his looks?
I asked myself.
Mum said goodbye and left the room, while I climbed into bed, tucked myself under the blanket, and drifted off to sleep.
---
Monday came faster than I expected.
The weekend disappeared in the blink of an eye, and before I knew it, I was standing in front of the school gate, adjusting my backpack with a sigh.
"This week has to be better," I whispered to myself.
The moment I stepped into the hallway, I felt dozens of eyes on me.
Some students smiled sympathetically.
Others simply whispered.
I ignored them.
Ever since the incident with my ex-boyfriend, I had become one of the hottest topics in school.
At first, it bothered me, but now I was slowly learning to live with it.
I walked into my classroom and took my usual seat by the window.
Just as I brought out my notebook...
"Well, look who's here."
I froze.
That voice.
I slowly turned around.
It was him.
My ex-boyfriend.
He stood there with that same arrogant smile that made my blood boil.
"So... you're finally back," he said casually.
I looked at him without any emotion.
"I don't remember asking you a question."
His smile disappeared for a second.
The students around us became unusually quiet, waiting to see what would happen next.
He folded his arms.
"I heard you've been crying ever since we broke up."
I almost laughed.
"Whoever told you that needs better sources."
A few students chuckled.
His jaw tightened.
"You've changed."
I shrugged.
"People usually do after they stop wasting their time."
Without waiting for another word, I turned back to my desk.
For the first time...
He had nothing to say.
Not long after, our lecturer walked into the classroom, ending the awkward encounter.
The rest of the day was filled with lectures, assignments, and endless note-taking.
By the time the final class ended, my head was pounding.
"I can't wait to get home," I muttered.
Traffic was unusually heavy, and by the time our driver pulled into the villa, the sun had already begun to set.
I stepped out of the car, exhausted.
All I wanted was a hot shower and a long nap.
The butler greeted me as I entered the house.
"Welcome home, Miss."
"Thank you."
I handed my bag to him before making my way upstairs.
Just as I reached the staircase, a maid stopped me.
"Miss, your tutor has been waiting for you."
I frowned.
"Already?"
"Yes, Miss. He's in the guest parlour."
I checked the time on my phone.
He was almost thirty minutes early.
"What's wrong with this man?" I muttered under my breath.
Curiosity got the better of me.
Instead of going straight to my room, I walked toward the guest parlour.
As soon as I reached the entrance, I saw him.
Allari sat comfortably on one of the cream-colored sofas with a book resting on his lap.
He wasn't reading.
He was simply waiting.
The moment he noticed me, he looked up and smiled.
"Good evening."
I folded my arms.
"You know you're early, right?"
"I know."
"Then why are you here?"
He closed his book and stood up.
"I thought you'd ask me that."
He slipped one hand into his pocket before adding with a faint smile,
"I wanted to make sure you got home safely."
For a brief second...
My heart skipped a beat.
Then I quickly shook the thought away.
Don't be fooled.
I narrowed my eyes.
"That's a terrible excuse."
Instead of denying it...
He laughed.
A soft, genuine laugh.
"Maybe it is. Who knows? You might end up in some other man's bed."
I stared at him suspiciously.
He walked closer to me and whispered softly,
"I wouldn't like that."
He was so close that I could feel his breath.
His cologne carried a rich, masculine scent that could easily make any woman weak in the knees.
Snapping myself out of my thoughts, I quickly pushed him away and cleared my throat.
I didn't say another word.
Instead, I walked straight to my room.
I headed directly into the bathroom and took a shower.
Afterward, I stepped into my walk-in closet to get dressed.
Just then, I heard the bedroom door open.
At first, I thought it was one of the maids.
But then I remembered...
No maid would ever enter my room without knocking.
To my shock...
It was Allari.
I froze, as though someone had pressed a pause button on my body.
I still had my towel wrapped around me, but I was completely naked underneath it.
I watched as his eyes traveled from my face, down to the towel hugging my body, and finally to my feet.
Then they slowly returned to meet mine.
It felt as though he had stripped me bare with nothing but his gaze.
"What's taking you so long?" he asked, completely ignoring the fact that I was standing there wrapped only in a towel.
His presence made me so nervous that I couldn't even move.
"Hey."
His voice snapped me back to reality.
"s**t! What the hell are you doing here?" I exclaimed, rushing behind the large curtain that covered the window, hoping to hide myself.
My reaction earned a soft laugh from him.
"What are you so scared of?" he asked calmly. "I've already seen you completely naked."
I couldn't believe he had actually said that.
Still hiding behind the curtain, I replied,
"Mr. Allari, can you please use the door? I want to get dressed."
I hoped he would listen.
Instead...
He started walking toward where I was hiding.
