Mate?

511 Words
With the setting sun, the old hag attacked the young dragon. She was at the most vulnerable moment of her life, with the poison running through her veins and her powers inaccessible. With tears streaming down her face, only one thought seemed to plague her “the healer couldn’t heal herself.” She was ashamed and bruised. Swallowing the last thread of dignity left in her, Althea tried to scream for help in her feeble voice. She cried, she begged, but no one came. At that moment, Althea understood the depth of her situation. It dawned upon her that this is the end of her clan and herself.   She realized that it would kill her; the soul sucked out of her body, and her body dumped in a dumpster. Her parents would never know what happened to her and they would eternally live in regret, she thought as the watch her helpless body like a rag doll.  She watched the witch prepare her end. She closed her eyes, thinking one last time about all the people she knew and the mate she could not meet.  Meanwhile, in the dragon realm, Hestia is going hysterical.  She can feel the energy bond between her and her daughter wither away.  She turned the whole castle upside down and burning everything that comes in front of her. She saw red in of her and her people thought the plague got to their queen’s head.  Only her husband could understand what she was going through, and he was the only one who could calm her rickety mind. However, the dragons were adamant to think the plague has infected queen, thus they rebelled against Aegeus. They believed that to protect his wife; he is putting all their lives in danger but they didn’t seem to understand that Hestia was in a grieving period for her what she assumed to be her lost daughter. In the time being in the human world, Althea helplessly watched the witch put a seal on her fate. She stopped fighting because she knew that it was pointless, her limbs were getting heavier with each passing moment even if the witch does not consume her soul, she would die. She closed her eyes and her entire life flashed in front of her, from the time when she used to sneak out to go play with her brothers or the time when she would lay her head on her mother’s lap. Time was slipping away, and any moment now it would be her end.  She was about to give up, she slowly loosens her grip on her soul, when the sweet scent of rose mixed with dirt and something sweet and metallic hit her nostrils; and she knew exactly who it was…  It was her mate; he was here; she tried to fight against the effect of the poison but it has only worn her out even more. She could not exactly put her hand on what creature smells like that, in her disheveled state.
