Once we settled altogether and turned seriously to one another, he started by showing me his laptop. He presented the file's option, and then I saw tons of profiles in one folder. He clicked it and immediately, I saw a file named 'Red Arrow'.
My mind shifted to a single thought then went looking at Pierce Danger in the eye with a one question in mind.
"Are you?"
"What?"
"Are you also a spy brought into this academy?" I curiously asked him and he nodded.
"Yes, and it's kind of annoying how Harris made you be my only partner."
My eyes widened.
I suddenly remember what he said to me the day before I came here in Imperial High. Before I agreed to start a life here and signed a contract with him in exchange of giving financial support to my poor mother.
It was the time after I was brought to the guidance office.
Since I was already expelled, I'm now free to do whatever I want, and that is to run away. I don't care what happens to me, I'm just so done of all the shits that keeps on happening!
"For once why wouldn't they just believe me? Why am I always the bad guy?" I questioned myself.
Then I took my bike and rode it to escape somewhere far but as I'm about to exit the school, a luxurious car stopped in my exact spot, and when its window rolled down, I saw a very familiar face that invited me in.
At first, I was getting suspicious though when I saw one tiny detail that gained my trust.
It was that red mark that symbolizes 'HIGH AUTHORITY' in every gangster's rank.
"Hello, Midnight. It's nice to see you again." The man in a luxious suit greets me.
"Harris Preston." I called his name.
What is he doing here? Did something urgent came up in our organization? I swear I'm still not in the mood for this.
All my assumptions and stereotype questions fades away when he said something that I believe is more than what I'm expecting.
"Come, I'll take you to lunch we'll discuss an important matter there." He said.
Of course, who am I to decline? I left my bike behind and then one of his body guards helped me open the car door to get me inside. When I sat down, the window rolls up, I didn't miss my mom's stare to us but of course Harris is with me, she doesn't have anything to argue with him cause he's doing his best to protect me as well.
"So how is school going?" Harris asked me while I was busy eating my steak.
I shrugged my shoulders.
"I got expelled." I confidently answered and I'm amazed how he only sat there quietly on his chair without showing any expressions to his face.
I actually thought that he was going to laugh at me though, cause in every gangster that's an amateur role everyone gets to experience.
"I see, so I guess it wouldn't be hard for me to pursue you." He said and somehow I got interested.
"What is it that you want now? Do you have someone you want me to knockdown?" I asked.
"No,"
"Actually, I wanted to train you, officially." He answered.
"Train me? Am I not the strongest gangster you have?"
"You are, but you're not really the best." He insisted with that annoying face of him.
I stopped eating when he said that and then rolled my eyes.
Okay, is he humiliating me now? Cause I can show him that he's wrong..
"Get to the point, spill." I said putting down my spoon and fork.
He grinned.
He really knows how impatient I am when it comes to leaking important informations.
"I want you to enter the Imperial Isle Academy." He suggested.
I paused.
"You mean the school for gangsters?"
"The school for gangsters who would like to have a better future while serving the VIPs, not only that, after you graduate, you will get a permanent job and wealth as an assassin, agent or spy depending on your Rank." Harris elaborated.
"Why me?" I questions him.
"Because I see the potential in you, so are you willing or not?" He asked me and to be honest I hesitated thinking that this would probably get my mom so mad at me. However, something tells me to go and give it a try.
I took a deep breath to find my decision. This is huge and a wonderful opportunity, a school that fits my life? This is great and exciting, besides it's far away from here so it would be a great idea for me to escape reality and from my parents.
"What are your conditions?" I asked him seriously.
He smiled.
"That's what I like about you Violet, you can see through me."
"Don't get too overwhelmed, Harris. I know you wouldn't only want me to train and study to that kind of school, unless you have a plan." I blurted out.
"Okay, so before we go and settle everything, what I want you to do there is to become a student but at the same time my personalized agent."
"Okay? What is it for?"
"Let's say I'm handling that school, but I don't trust everyone in that school, so I want to have someone to protect me." He says and don't get me wrong because I find that statement of him very funny.
"Seriously are you getting scared by a bunch of amateur gangsters?" I mocked him while laughing.
"No, you don't understand, Midnight." His face turned deeply serious that I had to stop and be in that awkward position.
"Yeah?"
He leaned into our table close enough for me to hear about it.
"That school doesn't only have gangsters, but also notorious people who wants to ruin Imperial High's vision and missions. This is a big mission of yours, Midnight and I believe you're a great fit for this."
The moment he explained it to me I felt the threatened feeling around him. Something tells me that there is something that he's hiding from me, and whatever that is, it's not doing any good for him.
"What about mom?" I asked him worried of what might happen to her, even if we're not in the good condition together, I still love her no matter what.
"I'll get you covered, I might convince her. At the same time your fees will be paid in advance so you can leave some for her to support." He answered.
I took a deep breath.
"Alright, so when do we leave?" I asked Harris.
"Now," He said.
My eyes widened in shock.
"But what about my things?!" I began to panic because I didn't like the idea of going back home to get my things. I really want to leave now!
"Don't worry, everything is provided there Midnight." He smiled.
Game on.
"But one more thing." He cuts off my excitement.
"What is it?"
"There's actually two of you whom I personally picked, he's kind of rude but I'm telling you he's also a nice cub."
Great, I'm having a partner for this job.
"Do you think you can handle him?" He asked me quite hesitant.
"I don't know as long as he doesn't cross the line, yeah I think I can." I answered.
"Awesome, I'll introduce you to him when we get there."
I recalled that meeting then looks back at Danger.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" I said to Pierce.
"I thought you knew by then besides I don't usually talk to strangers easily."
"Oh yeah? You don't even know how I felt when you unexpectedly came out from your room shirtless! I even thought of killing you using that toilet brush." I almost laughed with myself reminicing that day.
"Yeah, you were quite a fighter." He commented.
When things got suddenly awkward for us I immediately changed the topic and took his laptop to see the "Red Arrow's' profile.
Of course I checked the leader's information first because I got curious about it that I wanted to kill him in my dreams when I get the chance. However, it turns out that the Red Arrow's are just using a persona of their own, they are not really, real mut gangsters, but they're actually a group of young bred mafia's. What Harris told me is basically true and I'm beginning to understand why he picked me for this mission personally. He knew that I'm capable of doing something both legal and illegal at the same time.
But what about Pierce Danger? I wonder why he picked him too?
"How did you know about this?" I asked Pierce.
"Well, unlike you, I came here ahead of you and while searching around the campus I found out what they are really up to." He answers.
"So what are they up to?"
"I don't;t know yet, all I know is that what Harris told us is true."
"I doubt that as well."
Then he suddenly showed me a picture that I'm not quite familiar with, but from what I see it's an isolated place that may not be here at Imperial High. This must be place beyond the isle and I doubt that this is the base of those young bred mafia's.
"Where did you get this?"
"I hacked into their system."
"What? You know hacking too?"
"Well, not basically, I just used someone to help me." He said and there I was thinking that he's all perfect.
Hah! of course he's not silly.
"Remember the time you have saved me?"
"Yeah I got pissed off that day and not to mention I got late." I glared.
"That was also the time they found out I knew something from them." He confesses and I paused for a moment.
"So, why didn't you fight them back and instead waited for me?" I asked him confused.
I'm sure he's not some kind of a weak guy right? I mean that's why Harris picked him because he must have seen a potential in him, so why did he waited for me to arrive?
"Because it was part of our plan."
"Our plan?"
"Harris and I,"
"WHAT?!" I exclaimed as I slowly understood the situation.
"Are you saying that you purposely waited for me to come and save you because it would be a dramatic scene of getting to know each other?!" I questioned him and he just sat there smirking.
"Well I didn't want it to be dramatic. I just want to see what you're capable of and I can say that you didn't disappoint me nor impressed me that much."
"Oh yeah? Then what about I punch you in the face now for wasting my whole time? I hate the attention that I got when that freaking friend of yours dramatically introduced me to everyone." I complained to him.
"Caleb Duke? Well I must say that was a really dramatic scene. However, I'm sure he also got starstruck by your sudden heroic action when you saved him."
"You knew?"
"I just happen to pass by."
"Okay, well you know what? Let's just call it quits alright? What about let's just talk about what we should do next. Since those bastards messed with me? Aren't we supposed to do something?"
"Hmmm... let's just say that the student council also suspects the Red Arrow's now, but compared to them we know the exact informations."
"So? do you think I could you know, participate in the mission? I mean that would be a perfect camouflage to protect Harris. The 'Red Arrow's' would think I worked for the student council and not with Harris who's handling the school and their utmost enemy that would be a great advantage for us honestly!" I explained to him and waited for his response.
I'm sure that wasn't a bad idea right?
"You have a point, but are you sure about this?"
"Yeah, I just have to heal this fractures of mine within three days and then I'm off to kicking butts again." I joked and seriously this guy wasn't really fun to be with because all he do is grin, stare, glare and smirk.
He clearly doesn't even know how to smile or laugh!
"Suit yourself then." He said.
"Are you always like this?"
"Like what?"
"You know cold? Boring? Never smiling?" I asked him when he only ignores me and focused on opening a game from his laptop.
My self then suddenly got envy of him getting to play fighting games while I sit here sulking in pain.
"I'm not just used to being too much happy." He answered me and honestly I felt that sadness in his tone.
"I'm sorry I don't intentionally want to offend you though, it was just being a curious shit." I almost blamed myself for it when he sounded too sad for me or was it because of that time of the month again?
I swear I just want to f*****g punch myself being an emotional potato! No wonder I easily got into a fight because I was really getting into that time again.
"It's fine."
When I wasn't really feeling into making another conversation with him. I stood up from the sofa and didn't mind what he was doing. Since he didn't talk or push through our conversation I thought it was actually okay for me to leave when he stopped me by holding into the hem of my skirt uniform.
"Uh? Excuse me? Pierce what are you doing?" I asked him confused.
When he saw what he was holding he immediately took off his hand and avoided my intriguing stare.
"I was just going to ask what you want for dinner." He asked while his eyes still focused on the screen.
I thought for a moment then realized that he's actaully breaking our house rules and contract, but since he didn't brought that up I happily suggested having pizza!
"Well, I was really craving for some pizza and mushroom soup."
"Alright, you can just watch television here, I'll call the delivery guy." He said and then stood up going to the telephone that's stuck in the corner's wall.
Am I dreaming? This guy is very different from what I knew he was! What the heck happened? Did he also hit his head?
Omg!
What if he really did?
Then he went back to his place which is beside me, and his laptop, and continued playing his own game. Silence went on for us till it was like for half an hour now, and my eyes is actually beginning to hurt from keeping my stare on the television screen just to keep me from staring at him.
I must admit that this guy is actually creeping me out.
After minutes of keeping ourselves pre-occupied for a moment. The door bell rang and that's when both of us stood up from our seats.
"I'll go and get it."
"I should get it."
We both said in chorus.
"No, it's fine, you should go and take a seat in the dining room instead. I'll bring the food there." He insisted
"Oh, okay cool." I replied.
When he already got them we sat in the dining table opposite with each other. As usual we tried ourselves to avoid getting into a conversation but it can't be helped!
The silence between us is kind of suffocating me and I hate how awkward it actually feels like. I'm actually thinking that it's way more better when we didn't knew about something to each other than we actually do now. It's a lot harder than I guessed it would be?
"So what are your plans for tomorrow?" He suddenly asks that literally almost made me skip a beat.
"Oh, just the usual, I must attend History Class, besides I need to talk with someone tomorrow."
"May I know who exactly?"
I sighed.
"Uhm does that really matter?" I asked him and he shrugged his shoulders.
"I'm in charge of you for a few days till you recover and start working, I must know the details."
I rolled my eyes.
Great, I bet Harris asked him to do this stuff for me.
"You know what? You don't have to push yourself and do these kinds of things to me if you're not comfortable. I can handle myself I didn't lost my arm it just need some rest." I said to him annoyed.
However, I didn't expect him to buy my exact words and quickly changes his behavior. He literally stood up from his seat and washed his own plate then went back to his laptop to play his game. He didn't even reply or comment to my suggestion, he just left and ignored my presence.
"Ha...just what I have thought." I hissed not in a good mood.
Since I couldn't get my plate washed by my own self. I tossed it in the sinked quite harshly to aware him that I was mad. I passed by the living room and still got no comments, so I walked towards my bedroom instead when another door bell rang.
It took almost three door bells when I got annoyed because he wasn't clearly planning to open and confront who it was. I turned around and went to check who the heck is ringing the door bell when I saw him.
"Hey, Midnight! I brought you a snack!" He happily visits me and tossed the bag of snacks he got for me.
"Caleb Duke?!" I called his name.
"Yep, that's me princess." He winked.
My head then slowly turned around thinking this was an ambush when I saw Pierce Danger standing right behind me, with cold eyes that looked at Caleb probably annoyed.
"What are you doing here?" Pierce asked him.
"I brought some snacks for Violet, " Caleb answered him.
"Go back to your room, it's past the school hours." Peirce told him and forcibly closes our main door when the curfew bell rang.
He sighed and then faced me.
"I'll handle this."
