Kai and I finished setting the table and placed all the dishes on the table that were in the oven while Daniel was still arguing with his parents and Yasmin.
“Dinner is ready.” I call to them and all four pairs of eyes turn to look at me. I take a seat at the table and Kai sits across from me.
“Cheers!” Kai says extending her glass towards me.
“Cheers.” I say and clink her glass with my own. I take a giant gulp of liquid courage; god knows I’m going to need it to get through this dinner.
Daniel sits beside me with his lips pursed. To my utter horror, Yasmin sits on his other side. Kuo sits across from Daniel and next to his daughter while Jia sits opposite Yasmin. Everyone begins to load up their plates and Daniel teaches me how to make the Peking duck pancakes. It’s so deliciou
