Chapter 28
After plopping a tray overflowing with chocolate dipped pretzels, dried fruit and cookies down on the coffee table, Vala hunkered down into a worn but comfy looking armchair. Amber, Rose and I had already gotten cozy on the couch under a huge starburst quilt and selected the cult teen classic “10 Things I Hate About You” to play on the TV.
Outside, occasional shouts and grunts could be heard. The guys had foregone the suggested walk in favor of bringing Cooper up to speed on fae fighting techniques. Apparently Cooper had a little bit of experience from some classes he had taken with Rowan as a kid, but he’d dropped out in favor of joining team sports. Now, he was getting his butt handed to him by two of Valhalla’s most elite Guards.
I felt for him, I really did.
