One: HALSEY'S POV
One: HALSEY S POV
"Get a hold of yourself Halsey, you have been crying for more than one hour."
I looked up to see Stacy by my side. Her seemingly harsh words contrasted by the warm hug she engulfs me in.
"You deserve better sweetheart. I believe your husband's family will come around." She assured.
"I sacrificed a lot Stacy! I sacrificed everything including my job to be with Lewis. It is not my fault we don't have a child." I express, with tears rolling down my cheeks.
"You will be fine, babe. The people you love don't always love you back, just have that mindset and let the last be."
Although her words were thought-provoking, I was paying attention more to my thoughts.
How could they accuse me of being barren?
How could they think I don't wish for a child every day?
"Hello?" Stacy said, picking up her ringing phone. "Oh yeah, I will be there immediately.“ She pulled back apologetically. “Stacy, I have a business client to reach out to. You can stay all you want here, it's also your house."
I smiled in understanding. I had no intention of leaving, anyway. She grabbed her purse and blew a kiss, before eventually leaving the house. As I sat back down on the couch, allowing the new episode of my favourite TV show play on the television, I got a notification on my phone.
It was a text message from an anonymous contact; “You might want to get home right now, I have a gift for you." I smiled knowing my husband loves to spice up our marriage by randomly doing things like this. Why would he use a different contact though? I shrugged it off and left.
I picked up my purse and headed for the door, keeping the key safe , for when Stacy returns.
Lewis' parents might be horrible, but the love between Lewis and I was unbreakable.
After some hours on the road, I arrived at our luxurious mansion.
I walked into the living room, hoping to see Lewis, but he was nowhere to be found.
"Maybe he is in the bedroom" I thought excitedly as I headed up the stairs. Upon arriving at our section of the mansion, I heard moans that propelled me to move towards the door and pulling it open. I stared in shock at the scene in front of me.
Lewis was having s*x with another woman on our matrimonial bed.
"How could you?“ I said quietly but he heard me. I was too heart broken to yell, tears flowing effortlessly down my cheeks.
The woman beneath him turned to me and I thought I would die from shock.
"Stacy!" I screamed.
"What? A man cannot find a child in another woman?" Lewis rolled his eyes, not one trace of remorse in his eyes.
How dare he say that to me? As I stared at his eyes, I was slowly reminded of his similarities to his family and their perception about me.
"I thought you loved me? We had our honey moon barely three months ago and you are on the bed with my friend?" It was honestly a miracle that I could form coherent sentences.
"You brought this upon yourself." Stacy scoffed.
"You bloody b***h! I trusted you, Stacy! I thought you were a friend to me!“
"Listen sweetheart, I am only doing him a favor. He doesn't consider you suitable again and this means I can take him." I looked up at her, wishing I could wipe off that smirk off her face. "Take this..." Lewis said, dropping a piece of paper on the floor, while going back to the bed, still naked.
"A divorce paper?" I asked in disbelief. "We just barely celebrated our second year anniversary." I reminded him.
"My family members were right, you can't procreate. I am not going to waste my time on a barren." His words carved a type of pain in my heart that I could not comprehend.
"You watched them mock me, Lewis! You saw what they did to me. I left the house and went to this b***h's place to clear my head and come back to see you f*****g her!" I was yelling at this point.
My marriage was failing before my very eyes and there was nothing I could do about it.
I stared at the pen he had placed alongside the book.
"You really want me gone?" I asked one last time, hoping there was a part of him that would reconsider.
I was being cheated on but I wanted this marriage to work, I didn't want to loose my husband.
"She is my next wife." He said pulling her closer, kissing her on the lips. She giggled.
I snuffed out my anger and picked up the pen and signed the paper.
"I just want you to know you are making a big mistake." I said to him.
"And as for you, b***h. This is the end of our friendship."
"Do you remember what I said earlier? Something like “Not everyonewould always love you?“
I remembered very well that she had said and I wished I could have seen what she truly meant.
I took one last look at the both of them and left the room, slamming door so hard that it echoed across the hall way.
I needed to leave this place. I need to find a place to clear my head.
I took the walking path on the express road, my mind tumultuous.
Why did my life had to take a dark turn?
What did I ever do to the goddess of fertility? All these thought clustered my mind and had me completely zoned out. The sound of horns snapped me out of my thoughts but it was too late. I already hit my head on the floor. I painfully turned over to see a shadow above me.
I observed his lips moving, trying to get words across to me, but I couldn't make out anything he was saying. I drifted in and out of consciousness.
I looked beyond the figure before me towards the hot scorching sun.
If this was how I would go, then I am glad it was quick.
Slowly my eyes closed and everything went blank.
