I would have been lonely without her

Luna's POV I tossed and turned in bed, tired of hearing the chirping of the birds. As i turned to lay on my side, the blinding rays of the sun shot through the shades, hitting me right on the eye. Squinting, I stretched before pulling the duvet off my body. Next, I slipped my feet into my flops beside the bed, walked towards the window and pulled the shades open, taking in the sweet fragrance of the breeze that blew across. I took a glance at the couch but Mark was not there. I wonder where he has gone to in such early hours of the day? Anyways, I don't give a damn. After yesterday's event, I had refused to talk to him. Daniel has replaced the mirror as he promised. He is so nice and different from Mark. I wish I had met him earlier maybe things would have been better. He has enough money and behaves more like a gentleman. I let out a deep breath. I guess it's time I focus on the reason why I came here. I have limited time to spend on earth. I can't afford to fail in my mission. I have to look for a human who is in love. That's the only way I can activate the healing power of the lotus flower. But how, who, where..? Just then, I heard some approaching footsteps. That must be Mark. I quickly ran to the bed and pretended to be asleep with my eyes slightly opened. Just as expected, the door cracked open to reveal Mark with a tray in his hand. He walked over to the large table and placed the tray carefully on it. Looks like he has prepared some food for himself. Ugh. He is such a selfish jerk. He walked towards me and I quickly closed my eyes. "Luna" He called out. Don't call me! " Please stand up." He insisted with a gentle tap on my back. I remained unmoved. "I know that you are awake.. Fine! Since you don't want to eat, I will eat the food alone. I guess you are not hungry. " I stood up abruptly. " Don't you dare eat the food alone" I snorted. "I knew it. You won't be able to resist the temptation of food" He burst out laughing. " Whatever.. are you giving me the food or not?" "Don't be in a hurry young lady" He picked up the tray from the table and sat down on the bed. I swallowed hard at the sight of cute inviting balls. "I made this buttermilk pancakes. They look yummy right?" He grinned. " Ye.." Just then, I remembered that I was still angry at him. "I don't want to talk to you neither do I want to eat your ugly looking pancakes" I said a bit curtly. " Come on, just forgive me already. I know I overreacted and shouldn't have shouted at you" I furrowed my brows at him. " Fine. I'm sorry" He sneered. My frown turned into a smile. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time he is saying sorry to me. "And I think you should apologize too" Mark added. "Me? Why?" " For leaving with my step brother " He whined. " You were jealous because I left with your step brother?" I exclaimed with widened eyes. " No I wasn't jealous" He snorted. " I was only angry because I felt like you were abandoning me just like others did" " Come on Mark, that will never happen. I signed a one year contract to be your guardian angel and since I always keep to my words, I can't break that" I rolled my eyes. " So does that mean we are now cool?" "It depends." I grinned. " What do you mean by it depends?" "It depends on whether your almighty pancakes will be delicious or not?" " Of course they will." He bragged. " So can I start eating already?" I asked, excitedly. " No" he fired. " Why?" I asked, confused. " You have to brush your teeth first" He chuckled. Oh. I almost forgot that I haven't brushed my teeth. I sighed disappointedly and stumbled to the bathroom. Mark's POV She walked out of the restroom, grinning. So quick? "I have brushed my teeth. Can I start eating now?" She exclaimed. " Of course" I chuckled, shaking my head. Silly! She sat on the sofa and bounced on the buttermilk pancakes. "How is it?" I asked, nervously. She hesitated, still chewing the food. "It is.." she stuttered. "It is what?" "It is delicious" She took more bites of the sandwich and made a satisfying sound. "Yeay! I always know that I am a good chef" I exclaimed, excitedly. "How were you able to learn how to cook? I thought the maids do the cooking?" " My mum taught me. When she was alive, she did most of the household cooking. Mum loved cooking,so she wouldn't let the maids do it." I smiled, going down the memory lane. "I was very close to her, so whenever I was less busy I do accompany her to the kitchen." " You really must have missed her" " Yes I do. I miss her laugh, her smile, her scoldings, her jokes, her food, her pampering" I paused when I noticed a tear dropped from her eyes. " Are you crying?" I asked, confused. "No. I have got something in my eye" She snapped and quickly dried her eyes. I couldn't believe that the rude Luna could be this softhearted. Tsh. Such a crybaby. "What about your sister? Why did you have to send her away?" " That was the best thing to do. I can't afford to let her live like this. She has continued her schooling in America and is living very well" " I have missed her. It's good to know that she is fine, she must be so lucky to have such a caring brother" I scoffed. " Enough of the sad mood. I have got something to cheer you up" I announced and she raised her eyebrows in anticipation. " You have gone back to work?" Luna guessed. I threw my head back. " Hell No. Don't be a kill joy" I sneered and she hissed. " Well, the good news is that we will be attending a party with a lot of food and drinks this evening" " Really?" " Yes. A little get-together with my old classmates. Are you interested?" " It would have been my pleasure to say No but I can't. This is a mouth watering offer and I can't afford to miss the food part and meeting new people" I burst out laughing. How miserable and lonely would I have been without Luna. As much as she tries to deny it, I'm sure she came back because she is worried about me. I have met a lot of fake women in my life and Luna is definitely not one of them.
