Chapter 26 Important Decision

1313 Words
“What do you want from me?” Marlow asked, picking his ear at the same time. Yolanda frowned at his vulgar action but she said nothing about it. Being vulgar was his personal issue and she had no right to interfere. Besides, she didn’t believe that he would listen to her. She didn’t want to start a fight with him. “I heard from Daisy that it was you who got the money back from Hennes Corp,” said Yolanda after giving him a disapproving glance. “To be exact, we two got the money back,” said Marlow. He took out a chain of keys from his pocket and used the ear pick on it and picked his ear more seriously. Fury surged up in Yolanda’s chest. She was his boss after all, but this bastard wouldn’t show the least respect to her. However, she thought of Scarlett, who couldn’t do anything to him either, she finally managed to ignore his annoying behavior. “Okay, I won’t care about this trivial difference. Could you tell me how did you get the money back? Don’t tell me the story of Daisy’s uncle. I’ve known that it’s a lie.” “Is it important how I got the money back? I thought you only care about the result, not the process. If I tell you Foxon regretted what he did after being lectured by me, will you believe me?” Marlow squinted at her with his head tilted. He flicked the ear pick in his finger and a big piece of earwax flew out at the same time. “Marlow! Don’t be so smug! What makes you think that I care about the result, not the process?” Yolanda burst out at last and glared at Marlow. “Haha! You are irritable. Aren’t you very tolerant of the talented people?” Marlow turned serious immediately and retorted with cold eyes, “It’s true that Ned Snape has very high sales volume every month, but he does poorly in collecting the payment. He is the chief of the team, but he bullies the colleagues of his team every day. He almost succeeded in sexually assaulting Daisy. Do you know that? It’s not the first time he does this kind of thing. I don’t believe you know nothing about it.” “I…” Yolanda didn’t know what to say. She was in a dilemma and she had a lot of unspeakable reasons for tolerating Ned Snape. She knew she had somewhat indulged Ned’s unscrupulousness. “He is a beast, but what are you? You harassed your boss the first day you came to work. What do you have to say about that? Besides, what do you expect me to do? He does almost all the sales of the 6th sales team. Of course I have to let him be the chief.” “Okay, I apologize to you. I was blind to grope a woman like you. You look pretty but your inside is ugly. I ask you one question. If Daisy was your sister, would you let her work frightened and scared under that devil? She is worried every day that she might be raped by him. About the sales volume, anyone as stupid as a pig can achieve that sales volume. Can’t you see that he just ships the cargo out without caring about the payment? If the payment can’t be collected, it’s the company’s loss. He has nothing to lose. Collecting payment is the business of his men. His colleagues being beaten to cripple is none of his business. Is that kind of a model of the salesperson guy in your eyes? You can only see the money and nothing else in your eyes!”   After he said that, he ignored Yolanda’s reaction and stomped out of her office. Yolanda was expressionless. She was lost in her reverie. She considered Marlow’s words and thought about her past. At this time, somebody was knocking on the door. She replied absent-mindedly and her secretary Shirley came in. “Ms. Edison, Lina said that Ms. Murphy wants you to attend a meeting.” “Now?” Yolanda snapped back to reality and asked. “Yes.” The meeting turned out to be just three attendees. Besides her and Scarlett, Wendy was there. She wasn’t surprised as this kind of secret meeting of them wasn’t the first time. A lot of important decisions were made by the three of them only because if they got the shareholders involved, they wouldn’t be able to solve any problem except wasting time on arguing. “Yolanda, come, sit here. Wendy, you sit here. You are both my right arms.” Their relationship was actually very good. It was okay to say that they were best friends. So when they were together alone, Scarlett was always very cheerful and active. They bantered for a short while and then Scarlett said seriously, “I asked you two to come here because our company will participate in important bidding soon. We have to succeed in the bidding because it will decide the future path of Watson Group.” Scarlett handed them a copy of the plan and continued, “The project in Coastal Revenue is the biggest real estate project in Starlake City’s history. In terms of qualification and financial ability, only three groups can compete with us. They are Globe Group, MG Group and Vanguard Group. “Globe Group has always been our opponent as we compete in the field of electronic business. MG Group is our main competitor in the field of shipping. Only Vanguard Group doesn’t have business competition with us and coexists with us peacefully. “Based on what I know about the presidents of Globe and MG, they will absolutely not give up the big project on Coastal Revenue. As for Vanguard, I don’t know so far. Their president Sandro Clark keeps a low profile. He has a close relationship with the mayor of Starlake City Henry Jenks. Nobody knows how Sandro made his fortune, but as soon as his company started, it undertook a few projects of the city government. Some of the big groups thought they could win the bidding of the projects easily then. So you can see what the problem is. “You know for the public projects, bidding is just a formality. If you can buy off the government officers who in charge of the projects, the projects will definitely go to you. I just got the information that next week the city government, city council and the bidders will have a meeting. We have to attend that meeting. It’s essential for us if we want to get the project…” Scarlett talked on and on for about half an hour before she finished all the details of the project. And then the three women discussed their plan for a long time before the meeting was over. After they finished the discussion, Scarlett told them not to leak the information to others as usual, because the company leaked information to outsiders seriously. Wendy received a call and went away first. Scarlett and Yolanda were left alone there. Scarlett asked Yolanda, “How is Marlow Williams? Did he make any trouble for you?” Yolanda pressed her lips down and said, “Ha! He is not a common trouble-maker. He made a great contribution to the company within half a day, but he also pissed his chief to death.”
