CHAPTER THIRTY THE MAN WAS wearing me down. The gifts never stopped arriving, each one sentimental, reminding me of our time together. I couldn’t get over Julian because he was always on my mind. I moved from anger to regret, continuing with my daily life but wishing things were different. My apartment was fully packed, but I hadn’t decided what my next move would be. My parents were excited to have me return to California to live with them, and so far, that was the only thing I was fairly certain about. I had people who loved me and a place to go.
