Leonard Edward
“ To love is to trust, to trust is to believe without consideration of visible facts, believing becomes hard when the facts grow roots in our mind, our mind then poisons the trust and our love goes whooooosh!”
In the city of Labraska in the mountains of Hijiko, a family of eight persons lived in peace and harmony. Though they did not live in affluence, they were in the middle class range and had enough to keep them under a roof and feed me them three times daily. This was the Edward family.
Mr. And Mrs. Edward lived happily with six children in their own house in the city. They have four sons and two daughters and were quite the family to be. They hardly quarrel nor did they fight over issues. The sons are Clinton, Bradley, Leonard and Joseph while Bianca and Chelsea were the daughters. Yes I know, the perfect family right? Of course, but this is not about the Edward family, its about Leonard; the third son.
“Come on boys, you’ll soon be late for school and I don’t want you guys doing the punishment”, Mrs Hannah shouted as she urged her sons to leave the house and join the bus to school. “Mum, We’ve not packaged our lunch, I can’t see mine”, Bradley shouted also as he was the foodie in the family. Their mum stood from her seat and went to the door where she kept their lunch packs, she stopped on her way, looked into their rooms and found Clinton all ready and prepared, waiting for his younger siblings.
Clinton was the eldest of the sons and the first child too. He was very organized, smart, intelligent and had inherited his coordination from his mum. They all came by the door side, saw their lunch packs and left for school. All four sons attended the same school and would soon be joined by their sisters. Their parents had always wanted all the boys to attend boarding schools while the girls would stay with them at home.
Time went by and boys became teens and the girls were old enough to be in schools. Leonard was a very quiet type among the sons. He always had this thing for keeping things to himself and finding solutions to these problems. He was also very intelligent and was at the top of his class. His elder brothers had gone into high school, boarding houses to be precise and it was his turn to join them.
Leonard joined his brothers in IMK Comprehensive High School and did not have much to worry about because two of his elder brothers had already gone into the school and would help him certain in no time.
“Why are we in this school and not the normal school our friends at home attend?” Leonard asked. “Mum and dad wants the best for us” Clinton answered his younger brother. Leonard was quiet, but he spoke so well to his brothers.
“But I do not like it here,” Leonard continued “Its a boys boarding school and most of our friends are not here”. Clinton laughed at his brother and told him not to worry that everything would fall into place soon. Leonard had no choice than to accept. After all, he was not the only new student who got admitted into the school.
Life became easier and easier for Leonard at IMK Comprehensive, they would always have to wake at 5 am except at the week ends. He always loved the rush that comes from having to do everything by himself. Though his hostel was close to that of his elder brothers, he hardly went to make complaints. He blended in perfectly.
He hardly spoke in class. It was not in any attempt to be anti-social but Leonard liked quietness and simplicity. He hated being caught in complicated situations which will leave him thinking uncomfortably.
He would prefer being left alone to having to explain himself over issues that could be completely eluded. This was all in the bid to live without stress and discomfort in IMK.
He moved from the random class he was in to the best class in his second year. This was where he met Melvin. Melvin was another smart and intelligent kid. He was also top of his own class which also earned him the spot in the same class with Leonard. They got off to a good start as they had to sit next to each other in it.
While Leonard was all the studies and its thereabouts, Melvin had time for fun, jokes and stuff. He was also top of his class, he was also jovial, social, a sports guy and full of strength. He soon got Leonard behaving the same way. All his social attitudes were seriously rubbing off on him.
The part of Melvin’s life which interested Leonard so much was the jokes and stories about the girls of IFK Comprehensive . It was a very popular topic in IMK. The very bad boys in the seniors in the school usually go out of the school illegally to meet their girlfriends in IFK. The stories do go round the hostels and the junior students have no other ordeal than to tell stories of what their seniors do.
Melvin happens to live in a hostel full of very bad seniors, so theses stories are sure to reach him very fast. This added to the fact that he was already into girls. All he had to do is pay close attention and listen to whatever he hears and just replicate it. He would call groups in class during recess periods and tell these stories. His seat was of course close to where Leonard had his own (in fact, they are seat mates), so Leonard was a regular listener to all the stories.
