Chapter One Aria: “Arrgh!”I winced in pain as Victoria tugged hard on my right ear, that I feared it would come off. “Shut the f**k up, Aria!. You nearly killed me and you know how murderers are being treated, right?” I felt a lump in my throat at her words. Despite being an Omega, I understood the consequences of poisoning Victoria. She was not only the Alpha's daughter but also my cousin. Yes, I was her cousin, and that didn't stop her from treating me poorly, constantly reminding me of how miserable my life was. Sadly, she wasn't entirely wrong; it was worse than just being terrible. “I swear on the goddess’ name , i d..idn’t poison your food with cockroaches” I managed to say with the little strength I had left in me, but my words fell on deaf ears. She dragged me on to where her parents were, and and delivered a harsh kick to my stomach, sending me tumbling to the ground. I was so wrong to have thought I was going to live a better life without with my parents, after being brought into the pack house by my uncle and his wife. His wife, the Luna made my life a daily torment, while Victoria, left no stone unturned in making my life worse,either. . I served as her personal slave, enduring constant bullying. My jaw twitched as the Alpha forcefully gripped it, compelling my eyes to meet his. "I..didn't poison her food, Alpha. She's lying!" I managed to say between ragged breaths. However, I sensed the Luna stepping forward from the corner of my eye, and the next moment, I felt a stinging slap on my face. She always hated it each time I spoke about her daughter, badly. “You wouldn’t kill my daughter just the way you killed your parents.!” My heart tugged at the Alpha’s words. I was always taunted about killing my parents since I was little. Some said my parents died in a war that ensued between two packs, while some said my parents died in a fire accident, in which I managed to escape. I couldn’t remember exactly what had happened because I was little, and it was as though, my whole memory had been wiped off. “Draco! Take her to the dungeon!” The big and burly man stepped forward, and approached me at the Alpha’s command. “Please.. don’t l..” I tried to plead, but Draco only dug his fingers into my arms, making me groan in pain. He pulled me out from the Alpha and Luna’s presence, and the last thing I saw before being dragged out completely from their presence was a disdainful look plastered on their faces. Tears spilled from my eyes as I thought about why they hated me so much. This wasn’t my first time spending days in the dungeon,though. I was used to the punishment they subjected me to every time. I was used to the whip lashes I received at any slightest mistake I made. I was used to being lied against by Victoria, just so she could get her pleasure from seeing me in pain. I was used to every f*****g thing in this goddamn pack! My head throbbed with pain and I squinted my eyes as the door was flung open, making sunrays of light hit my face. It’s been two days. Two days since that b***h locked me in this hell hole of a place, and all she could do as she walked towards me was give me a stinging slap. “Oh, you’re still alive.” She sneered, but my cheeks stung so badly, and the urge to twist her head off her neck surged through me that very moment. "Get out! You’ve had enough punishment ,go get some rest. Back to duties in the evening. One second late and I’ll have your head cut off.” With that, I hauled myself up, and stumbled out. I walked as fast I could, as my legs threatening to break at any moment. I limped to the back of the pack house, the designated spot for omegas like me. "Who does she think she is, some Alpha's daughter? You could've have lost your life!" Chloe yelled, pacing like a worried chicken as I stepped out of the bathroom, looking all spiffy. Chloe was an Omega like myself and she’s one of the two people who actually care about me in this pack. She walked over to me and helped me to my bed. We sat down, and I couldn't help but admire how pretty she was with her blonde hair doing its waterfall thing. "You should get going; you don't want any more trouble with that b*tch." She rose, her height towering over me. She was right; I needed to get back to Victoria's room and avoid more punishment. I had taken enough rest and had eaten to my fullest,all thanks to Chloe. After a peck on my left cheek from Chloe, I headed to Victoria's room, but what I saw left my mouth hanging open wide. What in the goddess’ name was Jake doing with Victoria? I took a step forward to confirm my eyes weren't deceiving me and they actually weren’t. I saw Jake's hand on Victoria's backside in her corridor. It wasn't the fact that they were kissing and smooching that surprised me; I had caught Victoria in such situations before. What threw me off was that Jake and Victoria never got along. Jake, was the second person I loved most in this pack. He was 21 and was infact, was my boyfriend. He was the only reason I wasn’t dead in this pack, as he always stepped forward in my defense each time Victoria bullied me. He had assured me I was his, and his alone. Well, the moon goddess did good by pairing us together and we found out we were mates few weeks back. I was finally ready to leave this hell hole of a place. He never hesitated to stand up to Victoria when she mistreated me. He made it clear at every chance how much he despised her. Now, seeing them together made me sick, questioning if he'd been lying all along. “J..jake?” I managed to say, and they spun around after hearing my voice, still giggling like babies. “Oh, Aria. Are you here to clean Victoria’s room? Or take out the trash?” The words dripped with so much mockery, that I turned back to see if he really wasn’t talking to another person. Is this the same Jake I had loved for 4years of my life? Victoria grinned so widely, as He planted a kiss on her lips, and hugged her waist so tightly. The same lips that had never failed to confess how much he loved me, was on her lips. The hands that had served as an embrace to me each time I needed someone to fall back on, was now on Victoria’s waist. It was as though, the scene playing right before me was a dream. “I’m your mate, Jake! You’re hurting me!” I yelled so loudly, but they both laughed, as though I’d uttered some curse words. "She..." he paused, gesturing in Victoria's direction, then continued, "is my mate. You can find your mate elsewhere. No way I'm accepting you." "I'm your girlfriend, Jake, and y-you said you never liked her. What happened?" I blinked back tears that threatened to spill. His face momentarily shifted to remorse, giving me a flicker of hope that he might apologize and come back to his senses. But I was wrong. "You have a weak wolf, Aria. Yes, you WERE my girlfriend. But look at you, you're freaking 20 and haven't shifted yet! If you were in my shoes, you wouldn't accept yourself." He shook his head. Of course, It was a norm that every werewolf should have gotten his wolf by 18 and should have shifted, but it seemed as though the moon goddess hated me so much. Besides, Jake always reassured me that I was going to shift really soon, he was a constant source of inspiration. Now seeing what was before me made my heart shatter into a million pieces. He stepped forward to me and my heart raced, praying he wouldn't utter the words every werewolf dreads. Unfortunately, he did. "I, Jake Allessandro, the future Alpha of this pack, hereby reject you as my mate." He panted, sweat creasing his forehead. Future Alpha? Was he mating with Victoria just to secure the position? My heart sank at the realization—I had been wrong all along. "You're marking Victoria?!" My voice trembled, tears I had held back now freely streaming down my cheeks. "That's none of your business. Accept the damn rejection!" He cursed, gripping the back of my hair so tightly I feared my scalp might come off. "I, Aria Heathrow, accept the rejection." The words left my lips, and my head felt strangely light. He walked past me, his actions confirming the painful reality, fondling Victoria's breast as they left together. I crumpled to the ground, as my wolf writhed in pain. My boyfriend, my mate, and the only one I loved in the entire pack, just rejected me and chose Victoria. “"Why?" I screamed out loudly, pulling my legs together on the floor. My eyes stung from the tears I'd spilled, but it felt like I was just getting started. Suddenly, someone's voice made me stand in an instant. "Come with me, Aria. You have something to do for me."
