I screamed when I was the article, but with only 4 weeks left of school we knew if I suddenly disappeared there would be too many questions. I tried to keep a lower profile at school which was easy now that Noah was gone on an early summer break to Canada. School, home, school, home that’s all I did but the morning of the next full moon a suv pulled into town that would change everything and it did. Gwen and I were out getting supplies when I literally bumped into Abel. “Selena? What are you doing here?” he smiles at me. “I live here, why are you here? Following me?” I smile at him, “Mums looking for some summer work.” I hated Jenna, my wolf was still pissed she shot us. “Selena, who’s your friend?” Gwen asks coming up behind me. “Aunty Gwen this is Abel, he was one of the counsellors son at that summer camp last year.” “The one where you nearly died? Selena, we need to get going we still have lots to do.” “Bye Abel.” I said softly before leaving with Gwen, as soon as we were in the car she took off like a bat out of hell. “Jesus! What the hell am I going to do?” “Hey you didn’t kill those men ok, you have been seen in town at events on a full night. We have created a fool proof timeline for you, too many people care about you now.” We got back to the ranch and activated all the cameras around the property so we would know if they came anywhere close to me. With school now finished I could stay close to the house, I kept helping out Alberto and Jr because no matter what they gave me I was able to do it. That night I stayed inside and didn’t change, even my wolf was nervous with the hunters so close by. But luckily there was no attacks last night and no hunters, the morning of the last full moon Jenna, Abel and Elijah pull up at the ranch while I'm off with Alberto in the back paddock moving the livestock, Gwen's voice came clearly over the 2way radio. “Selena? Have you found the last of the cattle?” “We have Aunt Gwen, Alberto and I are heading back now.” I said calmly before slipping it back onto my belt. “Selena? What’s wrong? Are you in trouble?” He was really worried about me. “Alberto, I'm…” I tried but tears came, he hugged me tightly. “Selena I know you’re a wolf so am I!” My head snaps up to look at him. “Your? Is Jr?” he nods twice; I was stunned yet completely happy too. “How long? For me it happened at summer camp last year.” “Grey mountain? Yeah I heard what happened there, just terrible so any young lives lost.” “Does Gwen know about you? She knows about me, she would keep your secret too.” We talked the whole way back to the house, Alberto and Jr were bitten 15 years ago that’s why they left Mexico and came here to Gwen's farm. He didn’t come into the house with me, he taught me that the sour smell we could smell was silver and hunters were easy to tell apart from normal people by that smell. I went inside and acted surprised to see them here. “Jenna? What are you doing here?” she smiles at me and it takes all my control not to let my wolf out to rip her apart. “I saw you with Abel the other day but I didn’t a get chance to see how you’re doing.” “I had to watch as Louise was killed, I lost my dad and I'm still haunted by that night so not great.” She drops her eyes and smile. “Aunty Gwen, I was meant to tell you that Alberto and Jr are still here working do you mind if I go back and help them? We are nearly finished up.” “Well we won’t keep you any longer, just wanted to stop in and see how you were. Thank you for the coffee.” She smiles at Gwen then leaves with the boys. “She’s fishing; she’ll be back next month to see if it’s me.” I said softly as we wave them goodbye. “Gwen, I think we should talk.” Alberto says coming forward, I grab his hand and squeeze it. “Let’s go inside, I think lots of coffee will be in order.” I say with a smile, the four of us head into the house, where Alberto and Jr come clean about what they really are. Gwen is happy that I am not alone; never did she yell or get mad she just smiled and kissed them both.
