Chapter 11: One Day Robots Will Cry

Chapter 11- HarveyDuke-

I was pretending to be asleep on the couchwhen Rex got back from picking Misha up at school.

"Again Misha" Rex sighed, "Ican't keep leaving work early because you get in a fight, what was it aboutthis time?"

"Some asshole called the ONLY openlygay guy at our school a dirty fag" he said, "so I beat the s**t outtahim" he shrugged.

I cringed at the word giving away that I wasawake.

"Go to your room Misha" Rexcommanded earning a low growl from Misha, but he dragged his feet to his roomin the apartment.

"You're too hard on him, he wasstanding up for a good cause" I ran my fingers through his tangled hairwhen he sat next to me.

"Jarred hates violence thought"Rex said, "if I didn't punish HIS son for fighting I would bedickless"

"I wouldn't like that" I kissedhim teasingly.

he rolled his eyes and scoffed, "youknow for a 32-year-old you sure do sleep a lot" he commented, "andyou've become thinner, are you sure you're ok?"

"yes Rex" I kissed him, "I’mfine, work is just a b***h"

"As long as you're ok" he pulledme into his lap.

"I'm fine you goofball"

"Yea baby but you're stuck withme" he smirked.

"I am perfectly fine with that" Ismiled.

he ran his hands up my back and hugged metightly letting me know he was really stressed. I wasn't going to bother himwith my feeling tired all the time, like I said, it was probably just stress.

"So how bad is the punishment thistime?" I asked after a few minutes of silence.

"Suspend for three days" he said.

"Do you want me to work fromhome?" I asked.

"Would it be too much trouble?"

"No, beside I haven't seen Misha thatmuch lately, I think three days will bring me up to my Misha meter"

"thank you" he smiled tiredly.

"Go take a nap, I’ll talk to Mr.Justice Warrior" I said, and he nodded thankfully disappearing into ourbedroom.

I snickered a bit as i got up and walked to Misha’sroom, I knocked on the door.

"If you're here to yell at me thenplease skip it, I already got the whole talk from Rex on the ride home"

"I’m not the yeller in this littlefamily M, you know that" I said, "now can I come in?"

"yea" he said, and I opened thedoor, I was welcomed by his pale green walls and a few old school band posters.I sat next to him on his bed and wrapped my arm around his shoulders and heleaned into me.

"I don't care what Rex says, your dadwould be very proud of you"

"Really?" he asked.

"Yes" I said, "Jarred has astrong sense of what is right and wrong and thought he doesn't believe inviolence I know he would forgive it if it was for a good reason"

"I miss him a lot, I haven't seen himsince last Christmas" he said clutching onto my Tee.

"I know M" I rubbed circled on hisback, "we miss him too, but he said he's coming home for a visit in a bit,and he's asking his boss for a transfer back after new year’s"

"That's so far away" he whispered.

"Your dad misses you too kid" I kissedthe top of his head, "he never shuts up about you"

"Hey Harvey"

"yea?"

"Do you and Rex want kids of yourown?"

"you are enough young man" Ismirked, "we got you when you were 5, we could barely handle you, and Rexand I have a kid, he just isn't from our bodies"

"ew"

"ew is right kid, your old man is adork"

"You're not old Harvey, you're only32"

"I think you're the first person toEVER say 32 isn't old"

he rolled his eyes, "thank you foreverything Harvey, taking me in and all"

"Believe me" I kissed his headagain, "it's been worth it"

I looked down into the toilet bowl inhorror, blood, I just f*****g pissed blood!

ok ok Harvey calm down, let's just goto the Doctor and like, get this s**t figured out, oh, and one more thing,don't tell Rex.

u called my Doctor, she was a nice lady andasked if she could see me, she agreed, and I told Misha I was going out andthat he would be in big trouble if he did anything stupid. I sat on the tableand told her what happened,

"Have you been feeling tired and weakbefore this?"

"yea, but it's just stress,right?"

"Harvey I’m going to need you to get aCAT scan"

"why?"

"I need to cross off the possibility ofcancer"

"C-Cancer? I could have cancer?"

"I don't know for sure, get itchecked out and you should bring someone with you, like your husband, orMisha."

"Not Misha" I shook my head.

"Then take Rex, you can't do this aloneif the result isn't something you like" he said, and I nodded, she set upan appointment for me and I drive home happy to find Rex the only one there.

"Baby?" he asked seeing my paleexpression, "what's wrong"

"I-I went to the doctor today" Isaid, "she said I should get a CAT scan"

"Why?"

"I might have…cancer"

"what!" he dropped the bowl he waseating out of and wrapped me up in his arms.

"Rex, I don't want to die!"

"You aren't going to baby, everythingwill be alright"

February 18th, 2028

-Rex-

I sat nervously holding Harvey's hand and amale nurse came out and told us to follow him. he hooked Harvey up to a heartmonitor.

"Sir it's only protocol" a femalenurse stood in front of me as I was freaking out, Harvey smiled sloppily at me.

"I'm fine baby" he knew he soundedweak.

"what's wrong with him!" I yelled,and the nurse gulped.

he has cancer, it's moved from his lungsto his kidney's and his bones...sir?

I looked at her with a mix of rage and disbelief“I-is there anything you can do?"

it's stage 4, if we had caught itearlier then maybe he would've had a fighting chance.

"he's going to die?"

she nodded.

"h-how long do we have?"

"about three months’...sir?"
