Chapter 12: Angel With a Shotgun

Chapter 12-Terrence Jeremy Chandler-

he was asleep, and I held his hands in my shaking grasp, how could this have happened, how could this be happening? not even 15 f*****g years. I didn't even get 15 years with him. we never got to go back to that little bed and breakfast in Paris, we never saw the northern lights, we never had our own baby.

he was paler, they were trying to elongate his life for as long as possible. his was thinner, his cheek bones sticking out of his face a bit, his eyes still shone when they were open. he knows he only has two months left and I know he doesn't want to spend them in a hospital.

my phone rang, and I slid out of his room before answering it.

"Rex what the f**k!" it was Annie on the other line.

"I-I-m sorry for not answering lately Annie"

"Rex" she said softy, "what's going on? you sound like you're going to cry, you never cry, unless" no please, don't say it, "unless it has something to do with Harvey, is he ok! what is going on!"

"Annie he's dying!" I blurt out and the line went silent, Cole was the one who finally picked up.

"It is true?"

"WHY THE f**k WOULD I LIE ABOUT THIS COLE!" I screamed finally losing it, "'why the f**k would I lie about my husband dying!"

"calm down Rex"

""I'M NOT GONNA f*****g CALM DOWN COLTEN! THE LOVE OF MY LIFE IS LYING IN A HOSPITAL BED FADING AWAY AND ALL I CAN DO IS WATCH HIM DIE! THAT'S NOT SOMETHING I SHOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH! I CAN'T WATCH HIM DIE!"

"ok Rex, I get it, where's the hospital?"

"It’s the FORTRAN one" I said.

"we'll be there in a bit, I’m calling mom, you should call Jarred, and Alfie, he's going to miss him"

I nodded into the phone.

"did you just nod instead of saying yes?"

I nodded again.

"ok I’ll see you in a bit, and Rex"

"Yea"

"You've got two months, make the most of it" he hung up.

I walked back into the room and his eyes slowly opened, I fell to my knees by his side and hid my face in the sheets.

"I'm sorry" I cried, "I should have forced you to go see someone, I should've never let it get this bad"

"Hey" his voice was still strong,and he spoke sweetly, "Baby look at me"

I looked up at him.

"This is no one’s fault, this is some sick tragedy but I’m still here and I am going to be for about 60 more days" he said and pulled me up by my chin, "come here" he scooted over in the bed and I slipped under the covers wrapping my arms around him and hugging him to my chest, "I’m still here baby, I’m not gone left,we have 60 days, we have 60 good nights, he have 60 good morning, we have 60 days to hug and kiss and touch."

I kissed his head, "I love you so much"

"I love you too"

he was being the strong one and he was dying, f*****g dying and I’m the one in tears. we stayed close until Cole, Alfie, Annie, Cherrie, and Cole's wife Brook arrived, and I slid out of the bed still holding onto his hand.

"Harvey!" Annie threw herself at him and he grunted.

"How much time has he got?" A deep voice sounded behind me.

"Jarred!" I jumped.

"I came home when Misha told me that he wasn't doing well"

"Misha called you?"

"yea about 4 days ago"

"Can I speak with every one of you one at a time" Harvey said, and we all nodded, "Annie first"

we all left except Annie.

my little rabbit had 60 day, we had 60 wonderful days left.

-Harvey-

"Annie, I need you to promise something to me" I said, and she looked up at me tears streaming from her eyes.

"what?"

"I need you to promise that you'll look after yourself, don't let Alfie's problems over shadow yours, start standing up for yourself, ok?"

"Harvey..."

"OK?"

"yes" she nodded and kissed my cheek, "I’m going to miss you so much"

"I'll always be with you Annie, I will always be there" I said, and she hugged me tightly before standing up.

"who do you want next?"

"Alfie" I said.

the red head walked in and sat next to me.

"I need you to promise me you'll stop being such an asshole to Annie, she is the best thing to have EVER happened to you so care a little more, ok King?"

he nodded, and I put my fist up.

"One last one King?" I smiled.

he pounded his fist with mine.

"Who next?"

"Cole"

the still tan man walked in as Alife left.

"Cole you need to keep this promise"

"I will"

"treat that stunning girl out there like she is a goddess" I said looking at Brook through the window,"you can never over use 'I love you' so tell her till she punches you in the f*****g face, got it?"

"Got it, Bunny, we love you, I love you"

"I know you big elf" I reached up to hug him and his warmth wrapped around me, "keep it Cole, don't let me down"

"I promise"

"send Cherrie in next" I said, and he nodded.

she walked in gasping and her hand flew to her mouth, "Harvey..."

"I'm ok" I smiled, "I’m alive"

she walked over to me and broke into tears. Iran my hand through her hair.

"the only thing you have to promise me is that you'll stay strong and keep this family together, don't let Rex runaway and hide, tell Jerri to move home, make sure Cole stays a good guy, and know that I love you more that my own mother because, I called her and you're here now instead of her"

"Harvey you are an angel" she kissed my head.

next was Jarred.

"Spend more time with your f*****g kid" I snapped a bit hoarsely, "I know he reminds you of his mother,but he misses you Jarr, he just wants his dad"

"I know"

"so, promise?"

"promise"

finally, Rex.

he took my hand and the door was closed.

"Res, promise me you won't go after me"

"Harvey!"

"no Rex, stay alive, keep living for the both of us" I ran my fingers along his jaw, "please baby"

"I promise" he mumbled and kissed me, "we're getting you out of this hospital, you're dying with me baby"
