PENTOSE SUGAR

Stellar International school was not the same serene and cool school they were known for.  Inordinate chaos had plunged the students, staff and non-working staff into despair and sadness. Abena together with Yaw and Kwesi had locked themselves up at the secretary’s office. The school secretary was on the phone calling the police apparently. Abena was little frightened so was Yaw and Kwesi. The female secretary ended the call and moved to the students.

“I have just informed the Chief of police and your parents; they will be here soon.” The Secretary muttered anxiously.

“Thank, you secretary. The g**g boys do not seem normal. They looked very strong.” Abena said.

“I heard you hurt one of them?” The secretary inquired, “Yes, but they attacked us first.” Abena said.

“I see, so what do we do know?” The secretary inquired. “Hide or stay here.” Yaw replied. Abena looked on burning with loathe. “We have to do something before the police and Dad and Mum arrives. Yaw, you know we have ….”

“Powers.” Kwesi said. The secretary turned and eyed Abena in surprise. “You have what?” Abena moved away a little and said, “And this is the time we have to use it. Our friends need our help. Yaw, we have to do this.” Abena coaxed. Yaw looked at Kwesi and Kwesi beckoned that, that was the truth. Yaw then nodded his head and replied. “Let’s do it.”

Kwei Madon moved rapidly more vexed than before eager to find Abena and her siblings. Most of the g**g members were still moving from class to class hoping to find Abena and her siblings. After what had happened to the Math’s teacher, most of the teacher who encountered the g**g just surrender and joined their kids and sat on the floor. Kwei and his three-g**g entourage were on their way to the Headmistress Office. And surprisingly, that was where the office of the secretary was. As they moved forward a little bit a rattling sound that resembled a minute lighting tore through the air and a man appeared with a woman standing right in front of Kwei and his entourage. Kwei turned with his boys to have a look at the man and woman. They knew them. It was Philip and his wife Maggie. Philip had teleported her wife into the school. Philip and Maggie now stood in a sober manner, already poised for action.

“We heard you are looking for our children,” Philip said. “If you want to have them, then you will have to go through us first.” Maggie added. Kwei looked on fuming so much loath he then bellowed, “Attack them.”

Maggie quickly hurled her hands to the skies and pulled heap of solid matter to herself after she unleashed then unto the gangs. Philip started running after Kwei. After some time, he teleported and intercepted Kwei, and gave him a good punch to his face sending him to the floor. Philip then continued in that fashion watching her wife’s back.

Abena, Yaw and Kwesi had left the secretaries door unlocked having taken the south exit to meet the rest of the g**g. As they moved, Yaw kept singing, while Kwesi was just quiet by the side of her sister. After a long walk, they finally got to the exit of the school and from what they knew, the securities were still on the floor wallowing in pain. Some with broken bones and arms. Abena then moved on with her siblings meticulously such that, they were not seen by the g**g members. They got to the beautiful school garden and Abena suggested they split but she will keep Kwesi with him. Yaw agreed, and  the three siblings splatted.

Abena first encountered two of the g**g and quickly unleashed her sonic waves towards them. But surprisingly, they were not hit at all. They seemed not to have been affected by the sonic waves. Abena looked on as the two g**g were approaching. They were ready to s*******r her and her brother with their machetes. But as the g**g approached, a pulse of energy surge from their back pulling them up and plummeting them so hard to the ground. Abena looked on stunned and frighten at the same time. So was young Kwesi. After the two bodies fell to the ground, that is when it was revealed it was Maggie that had done that. Abena could not believe her mother was there. She quickly bolted with Kwesi and embraced their mother.

Kwei was not a man who gave up on two or three defeats. He was still determined to find the Quansah’s kids and allow justice to prevail. All this while, Philip after hitting Kwei to the ground had been teleporting to the different classes and picking up the children one by one into the dining hall, where it was enormous enough to accommodate all the students. Yaw moved with a higher sense of urgency with the thought that, he had started all these perpetual altercations after he shot the photons that hit the heart of Eddy. He was feeling sorry for all that and he felt this was his chance to let sleeping dogs lie. As he moved on, three g**g members saw him coming and fascinatingly, one of them possessed a g*n.

This time it was not Darkey. The three guys quickly recognized him and the one with the g*n aimed at Yaw ready to pull the trigger. Instantaneously, Yaw unleashed his photons hitting the g*n and wholly obliterating it. The two other g**g members now then looked stunned. The two members then remembered they had super strength and made for Yaw. Together, they formed a long stretch of arm and pinned Yaw to the ground. The other g**g member with the g*n then quickly moved towards Yaw and took out a rope from his back and started tying Yaw. Yaw looked on helpless with his eyes covered by the g**g boys. He screamed and wailed, but no one was coming to his aid. The guys continued tying him.

That was the time the siren of the police was heard. Philip heard it too. But before that, he heard a scream of a voice that resembled that of his son. Following the frequency and amplitude of the sound, Philip teleported exactly to the source of the sound – by the application what was known in acoustics and optics as – the Doppler effect. Philip got to the same sport and tried rescuing Yaw. But the two gangs with their long stretch of arm came from nowhere and pinned Philip to the ground. Philip quickly rebounded and stood to his feet. Then from non-where, Maggie, Abena and Kwesi joined Philip. Kwei and the other g**g members also stood together on the opposite side facing the Quansah family. Yaw was still tied to the ground.

“You cannot stop us Quansah’s.” Kwei said. “Your son took away one of us and it just fair he also be taken away from you.”

“Over our dead bodies. You will not dare have my son in any way.” Philip said and turned to his family and bellowed the word, “fusion”. After he took to his heel and started running in a circular fashion around the gangs and his family. The g**g had no idea what he was doing, naively; they posed in a sober mood waiting for whatever was coming. Yaw was still on the floor unable to free himself. Philip made the tenth circular motion then bellowed again, “Now.”

Abena then produced a string of her sonic waves. Maggie then generated her bio-telekinetic energy and directed the sonic waves towards Philip. Philip all this while had been able to generate a high amount of electromagnetic energy. He then quickly halted and hurled the electromagnetic energy he had generated towards the sonic waves that had been produced by Abena. Maggie then finalized the trick by directing the newly created energy the family called ‘fusion’ towards the g**g members. The energy was akin to a nuclear blast. A thermonuclear fusion energy. The g**g members looked on as the energy hit them sending all of them slumping on to the ground. 

“Yes, we did it.” Kwesi jubilated. Maggie and Abena quickly moved to Yaw and untied him. Philip also joined them already exhausted. The police siren was also near and they moved quickly to the scene and the necessary arrests and detainment were made.

The following day, the whole of the TV news was flooded with the news that held captions like, Power Family Rescues School/ Fantastic Five In Ghana/ Family Proved The Power Of Staying Together/ Family DNA – A Power DNA / Ghana Power Family Discovered, and many other intriguing and sarcastic captions. After all that had happened to the school, the Headmistress who was not around when the invasion took place had given the Quansah’s one week to recuperate from the tragedy.

Yaw laid in the ER room of the hospital that was owned by his grandfather. After the school altercation with the g**g, he had incurred some minor injuries and Philip had quickly teleported him to the private hospital of his father-in-law. The whole family stood by Yaw now, who seemed to be doing well from the report of the nurse and his grandfather himself. They talked and laughed after they shared a prayer and Yaw was left to rest to expedite his recovery.

After the altercation, most of the g**g boys, where apprehended and throw into prison. Some were transferred to other regional prisons, so they did not have the fellowship in prison. They were being kept in the cell awaiting official prosecution. But one strange news was that, one of the g**g members had disappeared a day after they were all put behind bars. That had given Kwei the joy that sooner or later he was going to get out of the prison soon and kill all of the Quansah family. The guy who had mysteriously disappeared was Darkey Oku, whose father was also the police officer who also loathed the Quansah family. Darkey’s dad had run away with his son, thinking that was the best thing to do. Kwei was sad but still had the hope that come one day, he will be a free man again.

That same night, a nurse entered the ER room where Yaw was resting. She quickly plunged a syringe into him and extracted a sample of his blood into a portable container. After, she quickly left the hospital.
