Chapter 3

ALBERT's POV

The routine at jones corporation was always predictable,precise and entirely devoid of surprises since anywhere i go to,ladies are either trying to get close to me for wealth or just for me to touch them or some are openly gawking like predators.

As the CEO of one of the largest conglomerates in the country,my life was built on strict efficiency and absolute control.

People in the corporate world called me cold,ruthless and unapproachable.They weren't wrong,over the years I've learnt that letting people get too close only invited distraction and weakness.Everyone who walked into my office wanted something;a promotion,a favour,or a piece of my success,they offered reharsed smiles and carefully tailored answers designed to flatter me.

Then came today morning by eight i was already in the office expecting my new secretary to have resumed,seems like she'll get fired like the others.

I sat at my chair busy signing business proposals,projects and business deals until i heard a soft knock.

"come in",i said signing a particular proposal.I heard a soft step enter,i look up ready to reprimand her.

"you're late Ms....",i look at her expecting her to say her name.

"Janeson",she said looking around with innocent eyes.

"Ms janeson you're late,that too on your first day",i said keeping my voice smooth and demanding.

I expected a frantic string of excuses or a terrified apology,instead she looked at me with wide,innocent eyes,completely wide-eyed and stunned.

"Am i interesting",i asked testing her.

She nodded without hesitation,"yes and handsome too even with cold eyes that could be colder than glacier".

I blinked genuinely caught off guard,no one spoke to me like that,i was used to gawks from ladies and too sweet flattery but she is so blunt.I looked at her with amusement and curiosity.

"its the truth i am not lying",she said pouting,i laughed genuinely.

She wasn't being manipulative,she was simply stating what she thought without a trace of fear or hidden motives.

"you're an interesting person,the first person to ever tell me the truth directly to my face without being scared,okay listen up I'll forgive your lateness alright",i smirked slightly.

"thank you sir",she smiled,a bright innocent smile.

"besides my talent is keeping people entertained"

I looked at her curiously and summoned Jonathan to guide her to her workstation.

"Jonathan come show my new secretary her office".

Within few minutes Jonathan knocked and entered.

"come Ms janeson",jonathan said as he escorted her out.

"thank you Mr jonathan",she said,i watched as the heavy doors closed behind her.

For the very first time in a very long while,the quiet monotony of my morning routine felt broken and i found myself looking forward to seeing how the rest of my day will play out.
