Chapter 3

As Alexandre rang the doorbell, Violette opened the door, only to be confronted by his minacious presence. His revolver gleamed in the dim light as he stormed into the house with his men, his gaze fixed on her. "Who are you?" Violette's voice quivered. Fear incapacitates her, causing every muscle in her body to freeze. Her heart pounded against her chest, and goosebumps prickling her skin. Alexandre's anger surged as he grabbed Violette's arms, his grip tight. "Where is your friend?" he demanded. "Speak up if you want to live." Angelica, hearing the commotion, rushed downstairs to the living room. The sight of Alexandre with a gun sent terror coursing through her veins. Her eyes darted around the room and saw armed men surrounding her. "Angel. Please flee from here, "Violette implored, staring frantically at her best friend. Alexandre's voice thundered as he clenched Violette's hair, "Angelica Garcia, wasn't Leo's death enough for you? Do you want me to take more lives that you hold dear?" "Let her go, you dickhead," Angelica screamed. "I will. Only if you go to the police station and change your statement that Lorenzo did not kill your fiánce," Alexandre said. Angelica screamed defiantly, "I'll never do that, did you hear me?" Alexandre's snarl intensified as he retorted, "Fine, then don't blame me for your best friend's death." With violent force, he pushed Violette to the floor and shot her in the left leg. "Violette!" Angelica's cry pierced the air as she dashed to her friend. But Alexandre grabbed her by the hair, forcefully yanking her towards him. "Pay attention, little girl," he said dangerously. "Do you know who you're messing with? Do you have any idea what Lorenzo can do to you and your loved ones?" "Help. Officers," Angelica cried. Alexandre's sinister laughter filled the space. "You're naive to believe the cops will come to your aid. They won't, sweetheart. They have families to protect, and they won't dare to mess up with Lorenzo Da Silva" "Listen, please, let me take Violette to the hospital," Angelica implored. "Her leg is bleeding, and she's in excruciating pain." "Do you wish to take her to the hospital in a state of life or death?" he questioned. "Shall I take her life, just as Lorenzo took Leo's?" "No! I beg you, don't hurt her," Angelica let out a guttural scream. "Why involve her in this? I am your enemy. Hurt me, end my life if you must. She is innocent." "Will you change your statement?" Alexandre pressed, now seated on the couch. "No. Lorenzo deserves to die. He is a heartless monster who should meet his tragic end," she declared. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she struggled to catch her breath. Alexandre shot Violette in her right leg. "Will you now change your statement?" he taunted. "Or shall I subject her to further torment?" "You heartless devil!" Angelica's voice quivered as she clutched Alexandre's collar. "You are nothing but a soulless monster." "But my dear, I am far from a monster. If Lorenzo had been in my place, he would have ended your friend's life without a second thought," Alexandre sneered, relishing in his power. Angelica's gaze shifted to Violette, lying unconscious on the floor. "I implore you... spare her," she pleaded. "I will do as you ask. I will change my statement." "Good, Angelica. Very good. You made an excellent decision, "He had a triumphant smile on his face. He directed one of his trusted accomplices to take Angelica to the police station. "And what about Violette?" Angelica asked, her concern evident in her voice. "Fear not, my dear. I shall ensure your friend receives the care she needs," Alexandre assured. "But remember, if you try to act smart, I will silence her forever." With a heavy heart, Angelica nodded, wiping away her tears. She made her way to the police station, prepared to change her statement to protect her best friend. "I didn't see the face of the person who killed my fiance," she said as images of Lorenzo slaughtering Leo flashed before her eyes. "Ms. Garcia. What are you saying?" the officer was taken aback by Angelica's sudden change in the statement. The lawyer sensing an opportunity fiercely defended Lorenzo. "Please don't be afraid, Angelica, if you're changing your statement under duress. We will protect you," the officer spoke calmly while assuring her. Angelica wanted to shout at him. She wanted to tell him that the police officers assigned to her protection were terrified for their own lives. They had bowed down in front of the devil. "Nobody is putting any pressure on me. I'm only telling you the truth, "she said, biting her lower lip. The officer was compelled to leave Lorenzo. He was aware that his men had intimidated Angelica, but he couldn't help that woman. He had small children and had already seen the repercussions of messing with the cold-hearted devil. Lorenzo and Angelica confronted each other. Her heart ached as she looked at him. Her grip tightened on her kurti, her anger palpable. "I am deeply saddened to hear of your fiance's death. May his soul find peace," he said sadly. "I hope the police find the true perpetrator and severely punish him." Angelica left from there to meet Violette. As she tried to hail a cab, Lorenzo cornered her against his car, his chiselled figure pressing against her delicate frame. When he looked into her green eyes, all he saw was an ocean of pain and rage. "You will give the same statement in the court tomorrow, understood?" he asked dangerously. "You have ruined my life. You have destroyed my happiness." Her voice quivered. "But hear me, Lucifer. One day, the stars will align to weave a tale of justice, and the winds of fate shall carry your downfall. You will be destroyed one day, Lucifer. God will punish you. You killed the love of my life. You killed my happiness. You will be ruined one day. You will be destroyed and the entire world will see your destruction. I curse you! I curse you, monster!"
