In the dark corners of France lurks a terror, the cold-hearted devil- Lorenzo Da Silva. He rules as the merciless mob boss of the renowned gang, 'The Black Cobra'. His hands are stained with the blood of his victims. People call him Lucifer, for he takes pleasure in callously killing people day after day. Yet, he roams free, unchallenged and untamed, for none dare to defy him, knowing the dire repercussions that await.
Mothers whisper tales of his atrocities, as they tuck their children into bed. Prayers on the lips of people, fervently hoping to never cross paths with this monster. Even the cops tremble in fear at the mere mention of his name. He is described as a sadist, finding pleasure in inflicting incredible pain upon others.
Whispers echo through the streets, claiming that he is a lunatic, who, at the tender age of ten, mercilessly took the lives of his parents. Since then, his insatiable thirst for blood has led him to take countless lives, turning it into his favourite pastime.
He has tousled jet-black hair, which is thick and smooth. His dazzling ocean-blue eyes are spellbinding. He has angular cheekbones and a well-defined chin and nose. Muscles rippled across every part of his body. He's the kind of guy that every girl fantasises about. He is a devil in disguise.
"Buddy, the cops are here to meet you," Alexandre, his best friend, entered his room to deliver the news.
Seated in the shadows, an evil smile slowly spread across his face. "Is that so?" he sneered.
"Lorenzo. They've come to arrest you for killing the boy last night," Alexandre revealed, concerned. "They claim to have an eyewitness to the murder."
Lorenzo erupted into a fit of maniacal laughter, the chilling sound echoing through the room.
"You are laughing amid a terrible situation?" Alexandre exclaimed, bewildered. "How can you?"
"Alex...Alex...Alex..." Lorenzo winked. "Do you think the cops will be able to keep me locked up for too long?"
"Nevertheless, Lorenzo..." Alexandre tried to interject.
"My name is Lucifer. Nobody has the power to confine me. Let me deal with those douchebags!"
With those words, he descended the grand staircase, ready to face whatever awaited him.
"We've got the arrest warrant, Lucifer. If you don't surrender, we'll have to shoot," the officer warned, his hand firmly gripping his gun. "You've mercilessly taken the lives of countless innocent souls. Now, it's your turn to die."
"But what have I done? I'm just a respectable businessman," Lorenzo protested, his voice tinged with naivety as he reclined on his crimson couch, cigarette in hand.
"Put an end to this charade. You gunned down a young boy last night, and now you're acting innocent," the officer's voice boomed with righteous anger.
"Never dare to raise your voice at me again," Lorenzo admonished. "Yes, I admit I took a life last night, but my friend, how will you convict me?"
"Angelica Garcia has witnessed it all, and she will testify against you in court," the officer declared, a glimmer of satisfaction in his eyes. "Your bad days have begun, Lucifer!"
"Ah, you think Angelica's testimony will seal my fate, do you?" Lorenzo smirked. "I have a web of influence that stretches far and wide. No prison can contain me."
The officer's face contorted with anger. "Your web may be strong, Lucifer, but justice will prevail. Tomorrow, when Angelica testifies against you, the truth will pierce through your deceitful veil. And when the gavel falls, it will be your dark days that begin."
Lorenzo's eyes narrowed, a sinister smile playing on his lips. " Max, my old friend, did you forget how I beheaded your wife eight years ago? I am sure, you still cling to that memory. How tragic it must be for you to live with the pain of loss. Mark my words, just as I slipped through your fingers before, I shall dance out of this courtroom unscathed once again."
The officer's fists clenched, "I am not going to let history repeat itself, Lucifer. Tomorrow, when Angelica gives testimony, and the final verdict is delivered, it won't be the freedom that awaits you."
A chilling silence fell between them.
Soon, Lorenzo's laughter filled the room. "Oh officer, you always underestimate my power. I doubt Angelica will be able to testify against me. Nowadays, people die in accidents, burglars break into houses and kill people. Anything could happen."
With those haunting words, Lorenzo was handcuffed and taken away.
Alexandre's heart pounded against his chest. His car chased the police, in order to rescue Lorenzo from their clutches. He knew time was slipping through his fingers like sand in an hourglass. He sought advice from his legal team.
"Sir," the lawyer retorted, "Mr Da Silva's freedom depends on the girl's testimony. If she claims to have seen him murder that innocent boy, nothing can save him."
He continued, "You see, many cases have been filed against Mr Da Silva, but the absence of witnesses and concrete evidence has protected him from the clutches of justice. However, if the girl testifies against him, the court may deliver a tragic verdict: lifetime imprisonment or even the chilling embrace of death, based on the history of the crimes he has committed over the years."
"Can't we just kill her?" Alexandre enquired.
"No, sir. Not at this moment," the lawyer replied. "Such a drastic act would only ignite a firestorm of further complications."
"I have to do something immediately," Alexandre harrumphed as he hung up the phone.
His heart clenched in despair as he watched the prison gates close in front of him.
Alexandre summoned his trusted lawyer and begged him to obtain permission from higher authorities to meet Lorenzo. Each passing second seemed like an eternity.
As the sun set, his anxiety reached its peak. The minutes stretched into agonising hours.
Finally, the lawyer arrived with the court orders which ultimately allowed Alexandre to meet his best friend.
"Did you bring any information about the girl who will testify against me in court?" Lorenzo solicited.
"Yes, buddy. Her name is Angelica Olivier Garcia, and she is twenty-three years old "Alexandre responded.
Lorenzo, sauntered, in the room, whistling. "Alex, tell me more about her. Any weaknesses of hers which can be our strength?"
"The guy who you murdered last night, was her fiance. His name was Leo Cartier. They were supposed to tie the knot today. Angelica is an orphan. She has a best friend named Violette Petite, " Alexandre said.
"Where is she, at present?" Lorenzo pumped.
"She is currently at her residence. She got discharged from the hospital in the morning, " Alexandre answered.
Lorenzo's wicked grin widened, his eyes gleaming with a twisted delight. "Angelica Garcia, you've unwittingly stepped into the list of my adversaries."
