Avon's POV A month has passed but I can't still reach the Forter. Rumors have spread that their only son got into an accident and is being treated in the US. I am still waiting for their return hoping that if I talk to them we can make an agreement and I can acquire our company back. I shouldn't be doing this. This is not my responsibility but I am shouldering everything because my brother runaway. When we found out that our company was sold off he went out of reach. Police declared him missing since it's been a month but we can't still contact him. My parents are slowly losing their sanity in dealing with all of our family problems so I am doing my best to keep everything intact. I am forcing myself to be brave because if I don't we will lose everything. "Avon have you heard?" Althea asked so my eyes which were fixated on the outside looked at her curious about what she is going to say. "What?" I asked. "The Forter's came back," she uttered and that news made me feel alive. "s**t! Are you certain?" I asked then hurriedly stood up and picked up my bag. When Althea nod her head I immediately walked away. I heard Althea calling my name but I didn't bother to look back. I stepped out of the coffee shop where we usually hang out and walked towards my car. I drive as fast as I could thinking that this might be my only chance to see them. After an hour I arrived at Forter's mansion but it was not easy to get in. "Ma'am I'm sorry but we can't let you in unless you made an appointment with the Forter's," the guard uttered and I am slowly losing my patience with him. "Please I need to talk to them." I pleaded and if I need to kneel I would do it in a heartbeat. "Call them and tell them that Avon Lauder is here, daughter of Thomas Lauder," I uttered with desperation in my voice. The security guard took a deep breath then after a few seconds he started calling someone. "I'm sorry Ma'am but they refused to see you," he uttered after dropping the call. "Tell them that I am pregnant with Jeremiah Forter's child," I uttered and I have no idea what got inside my head why did I say those words? I am too desperate to see them to the point that I am willing to create lies and embarrassed myself. The guard called someone again. He turned his head on me and then widen the opening of the gate. "You may go in Ma'am," he uttered. I bit my lower lip hiding my smile. If our mansion is huge then this one doubled the size of our place. I almost got lost luckily someone guided me to where I should park my car. I let out a deep breath before stepping out of my car. I walked towards the main door and rang their doorbell. A lady wearing a maid's uniform open the door and then guided me toward the living room. I can feel my knees shaking as I take my every step. I flashed an awkward smile when I saw Alonzo and Elizabeth Forter sitting on their couch as if they are waiting for me. "Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Forter," I greeted nervously then slightly bowed my head. "You may sit down Ms.Lauder," Elizabeth's cold voice filled my ear but I did my best to hide the nervousness that I am feeling. I sat across them and played with my fingers. "About my pregnancy-" my words were cut off when Elizabeth suddenly spoke. "Your marriage contract will be sent later this afternoon," she spoke which made me freeze in place. I immediately shook my head disagreeing with Elizabeth's idea. "You got everything wrong Ma'am. I made all those up. I am not pregnant, I just said that absurd thing so I can talk to you and Mr. Foster," I uttered desperately explaining myself. "You want your company back?" she asked and I immediately nod my head. "Then bring our son back," my forehead creased hearing her words. "Made my son fall in love with life again and you will have your company back," she seriously uttered. I wanted to laugh thinking that she is just joking but I didn't see any hint of humor in her face nor did Alonzo Foster. "Your offer doesn't sound pleasing Ma'am, I'm sorry," I smiled at her then turned my head to Alonzo Foster and politely bowed my head. I picked up my bag and stood up from the couch. I was about to walk away when Elizabeth Foster spoke. "Make Jeremiah fall in love with life again Avon. Be my son's wife for 547 days and you can have your company back, that's my only condition. If you are not willing to take my offer then I'm sorry to say this but your name will vanish in the business industry," hearing that word reminded me of my father holding a gun pressed against his temple, ready to pull the trigger. I let out a deep breath and then face Elizabeth Forter. "547 days?" I asked to make sure that I heard her words right. Elizabeth nods her head. "547 days Avon," she repeated. A few months ago I am partying. Dancing with the crowd. Tasting the liquor. I never thought that my life would change drastically. I never thought that the great Avon Lauder will have her greatest downfall. Jeremiah's POV I am existing but I can no longer feel that I am living. I roamed my eyes around my room. My eyes landed on the different trophies that I won in acing the racetrack. Outstanding CEO of the Year. Jeremiah Forter holds the record for the most race wins. Anger filled me. My vision darkened. I wanted to throw things and punched the wall but all I can do is to shout which frustrates me even more. I am in the middle of my breakdown when the door swung open and an unfamiliar woman entered. "Are you okay?" she asked with worry laced in her voice. My forehead creased as I looked at her intently. Her face looks familiar at some point but I don't know her name. "Leave," I coldly utter but she didn't move. She remained standing in front of me as if she didn't hear me. "I said f*****g leave!" I shouted full of anger which made her flinch but when she recovered she gave me a death glare. "You don't have to shout I can f*****g hear you," she uttered with gritting teeth then stormed out of the room leaving me dumbfounded. I stared at my door when the woman vanished wondering who she is. Curious to find an answer I pressed the button on my wheelchair. My door closed and open automatically whenever it detected someone so I have no trouble opening it up. The only thing that I can control is my finger so I am using a high-tech wheelchair since being dependent on someone reminded me of how impotent I am. When I left my room I headed towards the living room I regretted doing it because I saw her again. "Who are you?" I asked. Her head focused on the television and turned on me. "Avon Lauder your wife," she casually said which made my forehead crease. "My wife?" I asked thinking maybe I misheard her. The woman named Avon folded her arms around her chest and then looked at me intently. "Unfortunately Mr. Jeremiah Forter I am married to you so whether I like it or not I have to stick with you," she uttered then brought her eyes back to the television. "Where are my parents?" I asked. "At their office," she responded without even looking at me. I let out a deep breath and then pressed the button of my wheelchair to make it move. "You want my help?" I heard her ask but I didn't bother to respond. When I reached my parent's office I am having a hard time how to open the door. I was about to call our maid when someone held the door knob and pushed the door open. "You're welcome Jeremiah," I heard Avon's voice but I ignored her and get inside my parent's office without even thanking Avon. "Jeremiah," my mother uttered shocked that I am here. After a while, she walked towards the door. "You can leave now Avon," she uttered then after a while she walked towards me. "Care to explain who is that woman Mom?" I asked trying my best to calm myself. My mother let out a deep breath and then plastered a nervous smile. "She's your wife Jeremiah," she uttered, and upon hearing that I let out a sarcastic laugh. "Why do you have to do that Mom?" I asked calmly even though I can feel that with a slight push I will explode. "Dr. Romero advised us that you needed a company for fast recovery so I am thinking that you needed someone like Avon," she explained. I shook my head disagreeing with her idea. "I don't f*****g need someone. I can handle myself, Mom," I insisted and this time I can feel anger in my voice. "You can't stay in your room all the time. You refused to see your friends. You never talk to us. You are slowly killing yourself, Jeremiah," she uttered and I can feel pain and worry in her voice. "There is no point in living if I ended up like this Mom," I uttered to make her understand where I am coming from. "Jeremiah you still have a chance, don't give up to fast," my mother pleaded and hearing her voice shattered my heart into pieces. "18 months Mom. I have 18 months to recover but if I failed then I am sorry but I have no choice but to give up," I uttered. "I requested voluntary euthanasia in one of the well-known hospitals in Switzerland Mom. I am giving myself 18 months to suffer from this f*****g condition but after those I am sorry but I will end everything," after saying those my mother kneeled on the floor. "No! Please Jeremiah you can't do that," she begged. I let out a deep breath and hold back my tears. "Alonzo please changed our son's mind," she pleaded and turned to my father but my father remained quiet and picked my Mom up from the floor. I won't allow myself to suffer for a lifetime. I know I sounded selfish but I am doing this for everyone. I know my mother is in pain whenever she sees me like this so it is much better to put an end to our suffering. No one can change my mind. I won't fall in love with life again if this is the kind of life that I am going to live.
