Avon's POV When Jeremiah defended me from her mother's wrath it gave me hope that I can still be close to him and make things work for the better. "Jeremiah," I called him while he was busy staring outside his window, his favorite thing to do. He didn't respond to my call but that is okay with me he is always like this anyways and I got used to it. "Thank you for defending me from your mother earlier," I uttered. "I don't want any drama Avon, don't make anything special about it," he responded without looking at me so I simply nod my head and flashed a smile. "I know," I uttered full of understanding. "Do you want me to call Gregory so you can take a rest?" I asked since it is a bit late and I am assuming that our ride earlier tried him out. "Sure," he responded so I stepped out of his room and search the whole mansion to look for Gregory. I walked slower and quietly when I saw Gregory having a serious talk with Mrs. Elizabeth Forter. I know it is not good to eavesdrop but curiosity overpowered me especially when I heard Jeremiah's name. "Dr. Romero Alonzo informed us that Jeremiah didn't make any progress for the past month, I am afraid that 547 days would pass and nothing would happen at all. I am afraid that Jeremiah will continue his plan once 547 days would pass and he didn't make any improvement." Elizabeth uttered with her voice filled with pain. "He is still considering euthanasia?" Gregory asked and hearing the word brought a heaviness to my system. "He already applied for voluntary euthanasia Gregory," Elizabeth uttered as if she lost all the hope that she has for her son and the only thing left on her is fear. When I can no longer take their conversation I left and decided to go back inside Jeremiah's room. "I thought you called Gregory," he uttered when he saw me enter the room but Gregory wasn't on my side. "Huh?" I asked like a dumb person. The conversation between Elizabeth and Gregory is stuck in my mind so I can't process Jeremiah's words properly. "Are you okay Avon?" he asked as he looked at my face intently. I nod my head even though I know that confusion is still written on my face. "Where is Gregory?" he asked and upon mentioning Gregory's name the door swung open and Gregory left the room. "Are you ready to sleep Jeremiah?". Gregory asked and headed towards Jeremiah. Jeremiah didn't teff his gaze from me. "Yeah," Jeremiah responded to Gregory's questions while still looking at my face. Gregory lifted Jeremiah from his wheelchair so I assisted him and then fixed Jeremiah's bed. Gregory carefully laid Jeremiah on the bed then after a while he left the room. "Good night Jeremiah," I uttered and as usual all I received was silence. When Jeremiah is fully asleep I started searching inside his room careful not to make any sounds that would wake him up. I can't find any album inside his room or even a diary, though I doubt that he has that kind of stuff and I am hoping that he does because I have no idea where can I find the list of the things that he might like. When I run out of options I saw his laptop lying on his bedside table. I am contemplating if I should get it or not but I ended up taking it and carefully open. I felt relieved when he didn't use any passwords so I can easily explore his files. I click the file manager icon then the album that contains all of his photos. Some were related to business, some were about racing, a few pictures with his friends, and some are with Ashley. I clicked all his pictures with Ashley and I can't help but stare at his smile because it reaches his eyes, a kind of smile that I have never seen for one month of staying by his side. "You look more attractive when you smile," I commented out of nowhere when zoo opinion n h photo. I clicked the other pictures and I just found myself smiling while staring at his photo that captures the happiest moments that he had with all the people he loves. "What are you doing?" I almost jumped out of my seat when I heard his voice. Luckily I didn't throw his laptop because of shock. "I-" my words were cut off and I didn't have any time to explain when he spoke. "You used my laptop without my permission?" he asked and by hearing that question I can tell that he is about to get mad. "I'm sorry I am just-" I am lost for words and I couldn't organize my thoughts. "Close my laptop and don't you dare go through my things again Avon," he uttered so I nervously nod my head and with shaking hands, I turned off his laptop and carefully placed it back on his bedside table. "I'm sorry," I apologized with a small and ashamed voice. "Just sleep," he coldly responded then closed his eyes again so I have no choice but to force myself to sleep even though my eyelids isn't heavy yet. Jeremiah's POV I woke up and the first thing I saw is Avon sitting on the couch. Her position looks uncomfortable but all I did was stare at her. Her features look like she is perfectly sculpted by great artists. She has a well-defined jaw, perfectly shaped eyebrows, thin lips, narrow lips, and her eyes even though it is closed I can remember how soft she looks whenever she needed something and how scary her stare was whenever she is treated unfairly. I was shocked when he opened her eyes so I immediately turned my eyes to the side and pretended as if I didn't do anything. "Good morning," she cheerfully greeted and as usual I didn't respond. "Call Gregory," I could utter without looking at her because I felt embarrassed about what I have done earlier. When I heard her footsteps leaving the room I let out a deep breath. "Why did you do that Jeremiah?" I asked myself. Avon might misunderstand my action or worse she might think that I am a maniac of something. While I am busy scolding myself the door swung open. Avon came back with Gregory on her side. "Good morning Jeremiah," Gregory greeted with his voice full of life but I can't seem to find anything good in the morning because everything felt the same. Gregory walked towards me and we started doing my morning exercises. He started massaging my hand but I couldn't feel anything at all. After that, he tilted my head in both directions but still, I couldn't feel anything. When we are done he lifted me from my bed and then put me in my wheelchair and we headed towards my bathroom. When I am done doing my morning routine Gregory placed me in my usual spot, in front of my huge glass window that allows me to see our huge garden. "Do you want to go outside Jeremiah?" I heard Avon's voice but I didn't bother to look at her. "I am fine here," I responded already feeling tired even though I am not doing anything. "Do you want to watch some movies?" she asked thinking of possible things that we can do so this day won't be boring at all. "I'm not into movies," I responded. "I did some research and I found out there is a racing competition today do you want to watch it?" she suggested not losing hope to make me do something. I let out a deep breath and didn't respond. I miss racing competitions but I can't afford to watch them because it makes me feel worse, it reminded me of things that I lack. "I want to stay at home Avon," I responded with finality which made her quiet and when I didn't hear her voice I felt guilt creep into my system. "When it will start?" I asked after a while considering her suggestion. "Racing competition?" she asked with excitement in her voice. I turned my wheelchair in her direction and I saw a wide smile plastered on her face. "Yes," I responded while looking at her directly. "Exactly 9:00 AM," she responded with excitement in her voice. "What time is it?" I asked so she immediately looked at her wristwatch to check the time. "8:00," she responded in panic as if we are already. "Let's go?" she asked and when I nod my head she walked behind me and push my wheelchair gently as we made our way out of my room. Before fully heading out she pushed my wheelchair chair toward my parent's office. "What are we doing here?" I asked before she could even open the door. "Asking permission from your parents," she uttered then knock three times and gently pushed the door open. "Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Forter," she greeted formally. My parents turned around and looked in our direction. My mother smiled at me when she saw me, Dad on the other hand nod his head to acknowledge my presence. "Do you need anything son?" my mother asked gently while looking at me full of love. "I am planning to watch a racing competition son," I uttered and shock is written on her face when she heard my words. "Oh my God, of course, son," she gladly uttered almost teary-eyed. This is my first time going out doing a thing not related to business or my treatment. "Do you want me to call for a driver to drive you there?" she asked but before I could even respond Avon butted in. "I can drive Ma'am," Avon volunteered. My mother's attention diverted to her. She stared at Avon's face and after a while, she let out a deep breath and then nodded her head. "Update me, Avon," my mother uttered. "Yes Ma'am I will," Avon politely responded. Dad also agrees so we left the mansion and headed towards the place where the racing competition will happen.
