Victor Malory,s first memories
It is not unusual for many junior high kids to recall earlier memories from when they were toddlers. But it is rare to remember being a newborn. Victor Malory was born on a rainy spring day on April 29, 2019, at 1:12 in the afternoon. His mother Darcy Malory, her mother Valory, and her father Vik were cooing to their new edition. Darcy was an unwed mother of 17 and loved her son. She beamed at him as she promised to give him the world. Her parents hugged each other and stepped back so proud of their daughter and the amount of courage it took to get to where she is today. Victor looked up into Darcy's eyes and saw the blue and gold specs. He wiggled around and tried to look at his grandparents. They were smiling at him, and he heard Vik say " Look at him so alert already and only a few hours old!" Victor was getting hungry so he started to fuss. Valory took him and fed him a bottle. Then he closed his eyes and fell to sleep after getting his belly full.
He is now 14 and getting ready to attend his last year of school at Dradges Junior High. His mother had just sat him down this weekend and explained some kind of gifts that normally come to light in our families about 15 years of age. And my birthday is only a few weeks away. Of course, living in Dradges pack land all my life, I knew about werewolves and other sifters that we see daily. But as far as I know, our family is not that type of supernatural creature. We are more fairies and witches. Our pack includes all types of supernatural and human. They do not discriminate. My mom has not told me anything about my father, he was just her mate, who was never in my life and I do not even know his name. Darcy looks sad whenever I bring the subject up. She keeps telling me one day when I am older she will tell me about him and till then just know that she and my grandparents will always love and protect me.
My mother's gift was to see a little bit into the future, so she could usually sense any danger before it came onto pack land. She is employed with others who have the same gifts as her at the security firm. Beta Hank also has a similar gift and is seen there daily. Together, her team is about twelve people who monitor all the borders of the packland. Darcy can see about ten minutes into the future, though three others can see a day ahead. But they are often lent out to other packs that are at war or on the verge. There is another team that can "see" further and can expand past the town beyond where many of our members work. Many of her team are new members who have joined their mates in our ranks. It is often commented that if they did have this firm in place 15 years ago we would have known about the attack that killed so many of our pack. I have not learned much about that attack yet. We are just going to start covering it next semester in history.

I have been a prisoner of the Delta Pack for 15 years now. I was taken aback when I was 18 years old. The future Alpha of the Frost Pack from Washington. I was traveling with my future Beta Jim and his mate Brenda on a fact-finding mission about the attacks on four packs in Oregon. The prison (called the Pit) is in the middle of the Delta territory in the upper Oregon region. We were just settling into the Oscett pack to discuss the attacks when there was a breach in the Northern Territory. The attack lasted five hours with many casualties. Forty pack members plus me were taken. The Beta and his mate escaped and headed back to our pack. I have watched many executions from the window of my cell on the 3rd floor of this five-story building. There were even some trades made a few months after I arrived for Delta pack prisoners with the prisoners from three of the other victimized packs.
I remember the day my mate arrived. Gamma Trevor and his son Dillon (whom he was training to take over for him) were in charge of my floor and the second. There were both male and female prisoners mixed in each. Gamma Trevor was a lenient man full of compassion. He would often let us out of our cells to mingle and have a gathering area. He found with decent treatment he could often get more information out of the prisoners than other wardens could. One day the door at the end of the hall where my cells were located opened and a sweet smell of lilac and honey wafted, to me. My wolf Nico went crazy whining "Mate, Mate!" I growled and said those words aloud. Trevor came over to me and looked at me. "Which one of these females are you claiming?" In the line of four women stood a girl around 15 with strawberry blond hair and hazel eyes. She could not figure out what was going on too, since she was still a little young to feel the mate bond. I pointed at her and Trevor took her to me and said, "Well, you will have to wait for a little while for her. But for now, you can get to know her before her mate bond is in effect. I'll put her in the cell next to you so you can talk daily." That was the beginning of my relationship with my fated mate, Darcy, who was not a shifter like me but a hybrid fairy and witch.
No one knew I was not from the Oscett pack, and I was able to hide my Alpha aura. So Darcy and I talked about our families discreetly. We were held captive for a year when Darcy was able to feel her bond with me. It was a little earlier than expected. We still took our time to get to know each other and did not want to rush into the actual mating ritual due to her age. It was driving Nico crazy but he understood. Trevor and Dillon did all they could do to convince the Beta and Alpha to allow mates to occupy a cell together. They finally gave in. So, when she consented to the mating, we were moved to another cell, bigger and more private.
We were together for another six months before we were separated due to the victim packs making arrangements for trade for the prisoners taken in the attacks. That was when Darcy's pack was allowed their trades. I, unfortunately, could not be traded with her. Darcy assured me she would talk to her Alpha about arranging my release to join her later. We took comfort for the first time in each other's arms that night, and we marked each other.
