WOLVES WOODS

Grass filled meadows. A bubbling brook and a cool breeze is my home. it always has been my favorite spot near our home. I'd lay there for hours listening to the sounds of nature and breathing the sweet air. Nothing could be more beautiful. LARA !! I hear, followed by a heavy breathing stomping jeez LARA! you keep just disappearing every time I turn around poof you're gone. My sister says I look over as she plops down next to me. blowing a stray curl who has made its way out of her bun and is hanging in the middle of her face. My baby sister is beautiful, her head full of sunkissed brown curls with lightened strands sprinkled randomly throughout. Her brown eyes squint, ugh, there's too much sun up here. and itchy grass and bugs .why do you come here? she swats at imaginary bugs to emphasize her dramatic complaint. Because it's beautiful, it's quiet you can silence the rest of the world and enjoy peace.And I can be alone while pushing her soft hips away from me . My sister is pleasantly plump, she would say, but all I saw was curves. Every spot on her body, where she complained, was to squishy .was just her blessed boobs hips and butt. the boys watched her everywhere she went! she had it! unlike my self where I was all bottom no top. mom says most women have either books or booty, but some are just extra blessed with both. like Ashlynn .Let's go mom's sent me to find you she has to go in .and needs to make sure we are inside and that dinner is done. Before she leaves for her shift. Grabbing my hand, she sits up and starts heading home. If I dont stand up, she WILL drag me all the way there her strength is also her blessing. When I leave, it feels like im leaving part of me. I sigh. I just need to build a cabin out here someday. then I'll never leave it will be me and my Forrest and brook. ok, the flower child, race you home. all I see is her dress fluttering behind her like a fox tail she maybe strong, but im fast. My legs are long, and my calfs are muscle I easily pass her because the roots and brush slow her up shes not agile like me mom calls me Rabbit cause my run looks like im barely touching the ground just my toes like a rabbit does. Bye slowly, I say... my dress to my knees as I run showing my underwear underneath ha ha RABBIT. SHE YELLS STOP SHOWING THE WORLD YOUR GOODS Who's gonna see YELLING OVER MY SHOULDER THE TREE'S Just as I look back to my front, an all white blur chooses in front of me . startling me, I trip on the ROOT COMING UP ARGHHHHH I scream as I go face first towards the ground tuck and roll tuck and roll replays in my mind as my dad would say. I tuck my head into my chest along with my knees and propel toward my toes . umpph, I roll straight onto my back ughhh. I whine ASHLYNN runs up laughing, holding her middle bending over as she hysterically laughs and tries to catch her breath. That's what you get, Rabbit! you got caught by THE WOLF FINALLY HAHAHA! What was that as i sat up, not acknowledging her teasing.what was what ? that oak root is all I saw haha no seriously Ash i was avoiding a big white blur. that's why I didn't see the root. we sat in silence for a beat, looking left right to left .let's go LARA you know the story of these woods. you're freaking me out...Dad always said there wolves here. That's why they're called Wolf Woods, remember!! whatever dusting my burned knees i start across the street towards our home. wolves dont scare me. it's just a story we were told as kids, so we didn't venture too far in and get lost. Lara! Ashlynn! where are you girls?? coming mom, oh my, what Wolf caught you little rabbit mom asked.. Im fine, ma'I tripped on a root. ya trying to avoid a white Shadow that flew in front of her supposedly. Ashlyn added ..whatever ash its true! Well, go wash your behinds up, ladies. it's time to eat. I gotta go in the Diner lacy cant get a sitter. for the 100th time poor girl her boyfriend never came home from the bar three nights ago probably laid up in some hoochies bed ..poor girl has nooone to watch the twins there only 4 thar good for nothing Man of hers has no sense what it takes to work of be a parent! he takes and takes from Lacy. all the money she makes, he even took her savings for the twins. good fo nothing. Girls never depend on a MAN for nothing. You two hear me! yes, momma, we say..no head up to that washroom and clean up. Baked beans and cornbread for dinner, im headed out. Give me sugar, see yall tomorrow, lock the doors, no one !! comes in IDC if it's the preacher we open for NOONE! I got my key , dont stay up late . ok, love u, momma. I wish momma didn't have to work, Ash pulled that handle, making sure it locked me niether Lara she hip checks the door, making sure it clicks into place . we have a big wooden door with locks that go down into the floor and into the frame. Daddy always made sure our home was safe since wolf's woods surrounded our little house. we always pulled the thick blinds down and drew our curtains over them. no going out once the sun set. and never open the windows at night. no matter what you hear out there! Daddy grew up in this house with Mama Papa and his brother Uncle Drew. When Mama and Papa passed, we moved in. Drew disappeared as a teen he went to work in town one night and never came home. papa always said the woods took him. Daddy said he prob ran away and got tired of the country life wanted more.These woods are famous in our small town and we are the only family within miles of woods most people refuse to live out here. But it was a home for us we didn't care where it was it was ours!
