Eva placed the dirty dishes in the sink. Through the window, she watched the muscular lines of Thomas’s tanned back as he bounded down the hill toward the ocean. She caught Koko watching her approvingly.
Luahine, on the other hand, seemed entranced with Soledad.
Since the tsunami, the two had become close, Sol milking Luahine for more stories about the mo‘o and sincerely trying to understand Luahine’s spiritual beliefs. Sol had an interest for and understanding of such things that Eva didn’t entirely share. Eva was more interested in how the mo‘o had been genetically engineered, but with Dr. Li on the run, those answers might be lost.
