JUNE'S POV
“Good morning Alpha,” I bowed.
“June, it has come to my notice that you have failed to pull your weight in the pack house since you woke up,” Apollos yelled.
“I'm still trying to recover, sir,” I responded.
“It's been one week, and even though I do not want to care, the stench of your incompetence is polluting the pack house,” Alpha Apollos rained down heavily on me.
“And clearly, your period of time out, did nothing for you,” he added.
I stared at him, disgusted by the man he had now become.
“What happened to you?’’ I wanted to ask.
What I thought was inaudible and, in my heart, ended up as loud as the morning gong. An expression of my frustration.
“What?” I only realized how loud I sounded, when Apollos queried.
I couldn't go back at this point. My voice deserves to be heard.
“What is wrong with you, Apollos?” I spoke very firmly.
“When did you become this monster?” I took a few bold steps towards him.
“Coming from a place of struggle, I expect you to do better,”
“You have been oppressed. Why are you oppressing others, rather than liberating them?”
“Have you always been this monster? Or did this happen all of a sudden?” My voice gradually rose.
The stunned look on Apollos' face made me realize I had overstepped my boundaries, especially in a different body he didn't recognize.
Apollos didn't say a word to me, and the very next minute, I was hanging in the packhouse square in a stockade.
The other pack members threw rotten fruits and vegetables at me, while Alpha Apollos and Stacy watched from a distance.
Stacy couldn't have been happier, while Apollos struggled to hide his worry.
I took my punishment gladly, knowing that I was able to spill my heart's content on him.
After minutes of humiliation from the pack, I was dragged to the dungeon and starved for yet another three days.
“Get up,” a guard ordered, kicking my stomach as I laid weak and motionless in the hay of the dungeon floor.
“Leave!” he yelled.
I was too tired to move a muscle.
“I could have you hanged for assaulting a woman,” a thick, commanding tone responded, drawing closer to us.
The familiarity of his voice had my head slightly raised.
‘Apollos,’
My heart still skipped a beat at the sight of him.
The glaze of five years ago, still fresh in my heart like it was yesterday.
The excitement of finally meeting my mate, which was never taken from me, even through the persecution of serving as Omegas.
“Bold women intrigue me,” he said, gesturing for the guard to leave us.
“Not to say that sometimes their confidence isn't so irritable,”
“Especially served at the wrong time in the wrong words,” he said, lifting me off the ground with one hand.
He had his hand wrapped around my neck and stared directly into my eyes.
“I used to be a fan of your goodness, June,” he spoke in a low but intimidating tone.
“I would rave about how your timely intervention helped my quest few years ago,”
“But obviously, you've grown to take advantage of the luxury you have here,”
His words stirred curiosity and confusion in my heart.
Clearly, there was some history between June and Apollos, but without knowledge of what it was, I couldn't act in character.
Looking deep into each other's eyes for a while, it seemed the world had paused it's rotation and intense emotions brewed.
‘Maybe he finally figured out,’ I thought.
Our moment lasted for a while and we slowly leaned in towards each other. It was like a magnetic force neither of us could resist.
In no time, our faces were barely a breath away, and I leaned in closer, pressing my lips against his.
Apollos' grip left my neck and his both arms went right around my waist, as he pulled my body closer to his, rubbing my breasts against his broad chest and chiseled abs.
The moment didn't last for forever, but forever is an illusion and what we make of it.
This was my forever.
He released me abruptly, taking a few steps back.
“Oh, there you are,” Stacy walked into the dungeon space.
Luckily, we were detached and a good distance away from each other.
“I thought of a perfect punishment she could continue with,” Stacy said.
I closely watched Apollos, waiting for his response.
“Actually, she's suffered enough,” Apollos responded.
“No punishment is enough for humiliating the Alpha,” Stacy defensively replied.
For some reason, she enjoyed seeing me suffer and go through pain, and I wasn't sure why.
It also baffled me, since I remembered Stacy being nice to the lowest of the Crystalline pack.
‘Power, they say, intoxicates, huh?’ I thought.
“I already thought of a suitable punishment for her,” Alpha Apollos said.
My heart sank.
I thought we had something, that our spark had found life after the magical moment we shared.
“She would take care of the Alpha Prince and follow his every activity,” Alpha Apollos announced.
“What?” Stacy exclaimed, clearly, she didn't find it a suitable enough punishment.
“You will hand her Sekani?” She queried.
‘Sekani,’ the name rang a bell.
“Do you have a problem with that, Stacy?” Apollos queried.
“You always complain about having to take care of him yourself, right?” he probed.
“He's June's problem now,” Apollos concluded.
“She can't have my son, not her!” Stacy protested.
“He's not your son!” Apollos yelled,
“He's my son, Jessica's son!” he spoke in a loud voice,
“And I give the orders as to what happens to him,” he said.
‘Sekani!’
I knew there was something striking about his deep blue eyes.
Apollos and I wanted to name our son Sekani.
Even though he knew at the time I was unable to conceive.
‘I had a son?’
I had no memory of pregnancy, the night of my attack.
I was baffled.
“Mama!” Sekani ran to Stacy, lovingly wrapping his little arms around her.
A drop of tear trickled down Stacy's cheek.
I stared at Sekani with the most love.
He was mine, and I was going to get him.
