He had cereal with milk, his usual breakfast. He had scarfed it down with incredible speed, grabbed his things and headed to school. He walked the distance, a 20 minute walk, occasionally looking at the sunrise.
Six months ago I couldn’t get out of bed early enough to see this sight. Though suddenly it feels like I’ve been doing it my entire life.
He sighed, mentally preparing himself for the classes.
When he got to school, he found the table occupied by Madison, Joe, Max, and Ken. He put his bag on the table and sat down.
“Anything?” White had been asking if any of them had heard anything about Crow.
They each shook their heads no.
“Nothing on my end either.” White sighed, “Any sightings of that creature?”
The creature, a beast seen the same night that Crow disappeared, had a picture snapped as it was flying away. Many believe it to be some sort of hoax, a fake picture utilizing special effects, makeup, and an actor or even photoshopped.
However, White, Madison, Joe, Max, and Ken believe it to be a real thing and not some lie. They hoped it wasn’t a coincidence.
Madison, the one who had found the picture in the first place, shook her head, “it hasn’t been seen since three months ago.
White had a bitter smile on his face, “I see…” Inside he was weeping, continually blaming himself for his disappearance, but he refused to allow his face to reflect his inner turmoil.
White looked down, “damn it.”
Madison, Joe, Max, Brandon, and Ken locked eyes, seemingly having a non-verbal discussion. Each nodded and looked in White’s direction, “hey, we gotta ask, how have you been holding up for the past six months?”
White looked up at them, “what do you-”
The sound of the bell, alerting all students that they had seven minutes to get to class, interrupted White.
Madison sighed, “we had best get to our classes, huh?”
Max answered, “yeah, we’ll talk again another time then.”
Each went on their way to their respective classes.
White went on his way to Geometry.
