His eyes narrowed suspiciously at the bitter... smelling medicine in his hand. The sharp scent made him winkle his nose in his disgust.
" Are you sure this is the medicine?" he asked, voice sharp. Yevin stood in front of him, calm and confident, arms folded " of course," she said. " Drink it if you don't eat your food. He froze, He didn't trust her one bit, " it smells awful..." he muttered.
" That's because it's medicine," she said lightly, " if you want to survive without skipping meals, better eat your food."
He stared at her, eyes narrowing even more, the tiny bottle in her hand became a threat in his mind, but no Matter how suspicious he was, he did not drink it, not a single drop.
" you're bluffing," he said finally, voice low.
" Am I?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
He didn't answer, he pushed the plate of food away stubbornly
she sighed, realizing she had only one option, she had to trick him into eating.
" you better eat it, or else," she said calmly hiding the small smile tugging at her lips. " The medicine isn't going anywhere.
He glared at her, he would never admit defeat, but slowly, reluctantly... he picked up the spoon and began to eat.
she watched silently, waiting, bite after bite, he ate and when he finally finished, she let out a small, quiet sigh of relief.
" I see!, that wasn't so hard, she said lightly.
He set down the spoon, eyes narrowing suspiciously again " you tricked me," he muttered. Her lips curved into a small smile " yes I lied,"
instantly his face darkened.
" you WHAT?!" he shouted. " you lied to me?!"
" yes," she admitted hands raised defensively, " There was nothing wrong with the medicine, I just wanted you to eat your food!"
silence, then rage.
He shouted up from his seat, furious.
" you... you tricked me just to eat?!" he yelled, pointing a finger at her.
She froze for a moment then as his anger grew, she grabbed her bag and stepped back.
" I told you!" she said, her voice playful and teasing, before he could react, he lunged toward her, she turned and ran " HEY! stop!" he replied, glancing back and smiling mischievously.
Just as he was about to catch her, she slipped because his older brother who had walked in at the right moment.
" save me!" she cried dramatically, holding onto him.
His older brother blinked in surprise, " what... is going on here?"
" she lied to me!" the younger one shouted angrily, pointing at her.
She peeked from behind, making a small pouty face, " I was helping...
" That's not helping!" he shouted again.
The older brother, shook his head and chucked, " calm down, she just wanted you to eat."
" she tricked me!" he yelled.
" And you ate, " the older brother reminded him calmly. Yevin stuck her tongue out quickly teasing and hid again " I have to go!" she said, adjusting her bag, " school won't wait!"
she turned to the older brother for a moment, voice soft " please make sure he eats next time too"
He simply nodded.
She smiled then ran out through the gate, leaving the younger brother fuming in the yard.
....
later that day, she walked home from university, her steps light and brisk. She lived with her parent in a modest but neat apartment in Seoul.
Her father, Han Minsoo, worked as a manager at a mid... sized company. He wasn't rich, but the family was comfortably welt... off. He was a calm and gentle man who always cared for his daughter in small ways, making sure she never lack anything important.
Her mother, Han soo-jin, was a warm, kind woman with a gentle smile, she often cooked delicious meals for the family and had a soft, playful way of scolding Yevin when she misbehaved.
Yevin was their only child, the apple on their eyes, They raised her to be polite, responsible and independent, but also encouraged her to express herself and be cheerful at home.
When she entered the apartment, her mother was in the kitchen, washing dishes.
" There you are!" soo-jin said, glancing up. " where were you last night? you didn't come back home."
Yevin froze for a moment, then smiled softly and hugged her mother, " Mummy I missed you!"
Her mother raised an eyebrow " Answer me."
pulling back slightly, Yevin gave an innocent gentle smile " I wasn't feeling well," she said quietly " so I stayed at a friend's place."
" you didn't call?"
" I... I slept off" she said quickly, placing a hand on her chest. " you know how I get when I'm sick, I didn't want to bother you."
she added a small sniff, looking weak and fragile, to make it believable."
" I didn't eat properly either... " she whispered.
Her mother studied her carefully for a moment, then sighed" you're impossible...
Immediately, Yevin hugged her again " I'm sorry next time I will call you I promise!"
Her mother shook her head bit her tone softened " you're too playful"
she grinned brightly, " but you love me like that," her mother smiled faintly, " Him, I suppose I do."
"... I hope he's not still angry," she whispered softly
Then she, shook her head with a small giggle" why am I even thinking about him?"
Her thoughts quickly returned to normal, focusing on her studies and her own life, just a sweet, ordinary university girl
......
Meanwhile, so-jung lay in bed still thinking about her unable to sleep
later that night... in his room... he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling, he turned to one side, then the other side restless.
"... why am I even thinking about her?" he muttered but no matter how much he tried... he couldn't forget her.
Her face, her attitude, her boldness " That girl..." His eyes slowly closed. But even his thoughts... she was still there.
