Chapter 6 - Adhyarth's parents Adah watched him walk out of the room, a bitter smile playing on her lips. She whispered to herself, "When my own family can't understand or support me, how can I expect a stranger like Adhyarth Khurana to stand by me?" Taking a deep breath, she steadied herself. "Adah Kapoor no longer trusts anyone—not in love, not in promises." Meanwhile, as Adhyarth walked away, he muttered under his breath, "Trust will be rebuilt, and love will bloom again, Adah Kapoor. And it will be boundless. I can't erase the painful pages of your past, but I can create new memories that will heal your every wound." Adah, lost in her thoughts, silently wondered, "Even if I allow myself to love again, would you be able to accept my past, Adhyarth? No one can embrace such a wretched past." With this, she closed her eyes, the weight of her memories pressing down on her heart. Fifteen minutes later, Adhyarth re-entered the hospital ward. "The discharge has been approved," he announced. Adah simply murmured, "Hmm," as she attempted to stand, but a sharp pain in her abdomen made her wince. Without hesitation, Adhyarth helped her up, steadying her with his arm, and guided her toward his car. --- In a lavish room at the Kapoor Mansion, Meena Kapoor was on a phone call, her voice laced with anger. "Find her! And what about the task I assigned? Was it completed or not?" A male voice on the other end replied, "No, ma'am. We drugged the girl, but she disappeared soon after. We're still searching for her." "Find her!" Meena snapped. "And make sure no one discovers my involvement in this!" "Understood, ma'am," the man responded before ending the call. Meena's face twisted into a sinister smirk. "How long do you think you can escape me, Adah? One day, you'll have no choice but to return to my grasp." Elsewhere in the mansion, a young man was staring at a photograph of a woman, his expression a mixture of guilt and helplessness. "I'm sorry, Adah. I can't even protect you from your own mother. Who knows what pain you're enduring this time? I feel ashamed to call that woman my mother." He gently caressed the photograph, his voice trembling. "Forgive your helpless brother, Adah. If it weren't for your oath and Kashvi's well-being, I wouldn't have hesitated for a moment to put that woman in her place." --- As Adhyarth’s car pulled up to the gates of his villa, he stepped out and walked to the passenger side. Without waiting, he scooped Adah into his arms. She felt weak and exhausted, so she didn’t protest, instead wrapping her arms around his neck for support. Adhyarth couldn’t help but smile faintly as he carried her inside. However, as they reached the living room, his expression turned icy. He stopped abruptly, his gaze fixed on the six people standing there. Adah, sensing his hesitation, turned to see what had caught his attention. Her face paled as she took in the scene. In a cold voice, she demanded, "Put me down." Adhyarth gently set her down but kept a steadying hand on her shoulder. His frosty tone cut through the tension. "What are you all doing here?" Four of the six people exchanged uneasy glances before looking at two young men. Adhyarth’s gaze sharpened as he addressed them. "Nirnay and Advik, you two will no longer stay here starting tomorrow." A woman, likely in her late 40s or early 50s, stepped forward, her voice pleading. "Adhyarth! Son, what are you saying?" "I said what you heard, Mom," he replied curtly. "But what could they have done to deserve this? They only told us what we have a right to know," she argued. Adhyarth didn’t respond. Instead, he guided Adah to the couch and helped her sit down. Calling a servant, he instructed them to bring juice for her. As the family settled onto the other sofas, they couldn’t hide their surprise. Adhyarth’s care and concern for Adah were unlike anything they had ever seen. He was a man known for his stoicism, yet here he was, his emotions clearly displayed for all to see. Finally, his father, Pratyush Khurana, broke the silence. "Son, now that you're married, it’s time you introduce your wife to us. We’re sure your choice is exceptional." Adah, who had just taken a sip of juice, choked on his words. Adhyarth quickly took the glass from her hands, rubbing her back soothingly. "Darling, relax. There’s no rush," he said gently. The word "darling" left Nirnay and Advik gaping. Advik leaned over to whisper to Nirnay, "Bro, close your mouth, or a fly might fly in. Guess we’ll have to get used to this." Nirnay nodded in agreement, his disbelief still evident. Adhyarth introduced Adah formally to the family. "Adah, this is my mother, Rishika Khurana, and my father, Pratyush Khurana. These are my grandparents, Arnav and Bharati Khurana." Adah folded her hands in greeting, "Namaste," as she acknowledged each of them politely. --- During dinner, the Khurana family engaged Adah in light conversation. While she responded politely, it was evident she was still adjusting to their dynamics. Nirnay and Advik, on the other hand, kept up their playful banter. Though Advik was Adhyarth’s best friend, he seemed to enjoy Nirnay’s company more. Adhyarth and his father discussed business matters, while his grandparents took every opportunity to shower Adah with warmth and affection. Before leaving, Bharati Khurana removed her bangles and placed them in Adah’s hands. "Always stay happy, child," she said, blessing her. "Consider us your family now." Touched, Adah smiled and bent to touch her grandmother’s feet, earning a radiant smile in return. As the family departed, Adhyarth turned his piercing gaze on Nirnay and Advik, who, sensing danger, quickly excused themselves and retreated to their rooms. --- Back in the villa, Adah attempted to return the bangles to Adhyarth. "You should keep these safe," she said firmly. Adhyarth took the bangles but instead slipped them onto her wrist. "These were entrusted to you, Adah. They’re your responsibility now." Adah stared at the exquisite platinum bangles studded with blue diamonds, estimating their worth at over a crore. "These are far too expensive. I can’t keep them," she protested, attempting to remove them. Adhyarth stopped her. "Don’t. You won’t take them off," he said firmly, lifting her effortlessly into his arms and carrying her to the bedroom. Gently placing her on the bed, he said, "Stay here. I’ll get your medicine." Adah leaned against the headboard, quietly observing him. When he returned with water and pills, she had shifted positions. "I told you to lie down," he scolded, frowning. "It’s my choice, Mr. Adhyarth Khurana," she retorted with a defiant pout. "Think carefully," he warned. "I don’t need to think, Adhyarth," she shot back. "Alright then," he replied, his voice dripping with mischief. "Should I schedule an abortion appointment?" Her eyes widened in shock. "Abortion? What do you mean by that?" To be continued...
