Chapter 9: Triple Date (3)

Suddenly an extremely mischievous expression arose on the woman’s tender lips. “Since we’re on the topic, I know it would be super rude to make you choose right now, so I won’t make you do that.” She remarked while leaning into him.
“Ah, thanks…” Ciel sort of awkwardly leaned back, not knowing what else to really respond. ‘Honestly if I had to choose of course I’d want Angelica but there’s no way Dante would allow me to make that choice now would he?’ He thought to himself quietly.
“Instead let’s just go home and drink the night away playing games!” Angelica jumped up and down like an overexcited teenager. And since her appearance was so youthful most would probably assume she was one.
“That sounds like a great idea!” Ciel instantly agreed, nodding along happily. ‘Anything as long as I get to spend more time with her…’ He thought to himself, determined.
“Aren’t you at University tomorrow?” Dante paused and asked.
‘What are you, my guardian!? Of course I am… but I want to spend more time with Angelica…’ Ciel thought to himself as he held back his tongue as he’d never be brazen enough to lash out like that towards Dante, even if he had drank a bunch.
“It won’t hurt to skip a few lectures, would it?” Angelica was quicker to respond than him.
“Yeah, it would be fine.” Ciel nodded along gleefully.
“No, it wouldn’t be fine. He has to study, just because you’ve graduated with honors without putting in any effort doesn’t mean he can.” Dante continued to oppose the idea without backing down.
‘Did he just call me stupid?’ Ciel wondered to himself as he glanced up at the man that didn’t have a single expressive bone in his entire body it would seem.
“Eh? But studying is freaking easy, and he looks like such a smart man.” Angelica supported the idea while still hanging onto Ciel’s arm. She looked like a koala in Dante’s eyes, and not a cute one by any means.
“You’re old enough to call him a smart boy, old hag.” Dante remarked in a bitter sounding voice.
“He’s a man! A man!” Angelica repeated herself. They bickered amongst each other like children.
“The age of your younger brother.” Dante reminded her.
“And so what? Are you saying I’m a granny or something?” Angelica’s tone was much more rough than before.
“Well if the shoe fits then wear it.” Dante continued while giving a heavy sigh.
“I won’t stand for this slander!” Angelica jokingly remarked trying to keep the mood light but of course it was difficult while arguing with your sibling in front of a third party.
‘Why does it look like Dante is genuinely pissed off but on the other hand Angelica is being completely playful?’ Ciel wondered to himself, watching the two, he couldn’t figure out what their deal was at all.
“Ugh… it is getting late so I guess I’ll head back.” Angelica finally sighed and glanced down at her phone. It was already about half past ten.
“Let me take you to your apartment.” Ciel suggested while glancing down at their hands that used to be intertwined but no longer were.
“I would but it’s a bit dangerous to go back with a man I barely know… So no thank you.” Angelica remarked while she pressed her pointer finger against the man’s nose, in a cutesy way.
“Yes, I understand that, I’m sorry…” Ciel slumped his shoulders but nodded along with a bit of a defeated expression. He surely wanted to look cool in front of the girl he liked, but it was so very difficult given how confident she was and how unaware he was.
“No need to apologize! It’s me being a bit cautious you know? Besides my dearest brother is going to-” Angelica was interrupted mid sentence.
“No way, go back by yourself, you’re only 10 minutes away from here anyways. He has more than an hour of a drive.” Dante stopped her before she could say anything else and shoved his hands into his pockets.
“You’re so mean, well whatever, see you!” Angelica looked upset one moment and then completely alright with the way things had ended up as if she had been expecting it all along.
“I didn’t know she lived so close by…” Ciel remarked quietly under his breath as he watched Angelica move into the distance.
“I thought you’d purposefully chosen a place near her but I guess it was just coincidence.” Dante said as he sighed a bit too heavily.
“Yeah… about today…” Ciel looked down at the ground. Unable to ignore the man’s expensive leather shoes which he’d accidentally stepped on before while getting out of the store. Yet before he could utter another word.
“I had fun.” Dante’s quiet words sounded strangely warm even despite the coldness of the season.
“Really? It didn’t seem like it, since most of the time was spent bickering with your sister…” Ciel remarked while looking up at the man and momentarily he could see his eyes wander.
“I was having fun because I was with you… although I hated having her there… your presence is enough for me, so next time… Let it just be the two of us.” Dante said without as much as being bashful or overly hesitant.
A man that spoke his mind unashamed…
“I… don’t want to lead you on, seriously… what we had back then has nothing to do with now and I don’t want you to think that I’m the same person either…” Ciel looked like he was on a tight rope that he couldn’t cross because he was standing at the very middle of it and his two options were on either side…
The distance between either option is the exact same at that moment… so which one should he pick at the end?
“Whether you’re the same or different… I want to be with you.” Dante continued to express his deep feelings for the man without hesitation.
“That’s… you can’t just say that…” Ciel wondered how it was possible for him, it was so easy for Dante and so very difficult for Ciel who’d been trying his best to be decisive.
Dante stepped forward and held onto the man’s hand lowly, just their fingertips brushing against each other at first and then the palms of their hands were touching. “I know you won’t accept me right now… I still haven’t changed… the thing between my legs is still the size you dislike.” He spoke in a low whisper as if that information was extremely important.
Ciel blushed all the way up to his ears. “Let’s not speak about your d**k anymore alright? It puts me on edge just to imagine it-”
Dante spoke calmly and quietly, the silence surrounding them not seeming so bad now. “Even though you dislike this about me… I want to make sure you like everything else… so that maybe… maybe we can be together after all. If you’ll have me…”
“I’m… really sorry!” Ciel suddenly bolted at the speed of light after muttering that apology. The scarf he had carefully put away in his back pack that he didn’t manage to give back to Dante was still with him. And the sweat piling up because of all the running he was doing was gradually being cooled down by the freezing winter wind…
‘If only I could be as honest as he was… maybe I would live differently right now…’ Those were the words that rushed inside the man’s mind as he ran at full speed…
