Learn As We Go

Talon leads me through my aunts house to the kitchen. I hear Abbi and Aunt Jenna talking quietly with what sounds like Lexi. Weird considering i didn't realize she would be here tonight.

"Lexi what a lovely surprise. Why didn't you tell me you were coming over?" I ask as I walk over to quickly hug her. I notice she has dark circles under her eyes and like she may have lost a little weight.

"I didn't plan on coming. Just thinking of Adam and I decided to pop in for a visit. I hope you don't mind. Your aunt assured me it was fine." She says quietly after she sits back down at the counter. When I step away from her I notice her eyes on something behind me. When I turn around I realize Talon is there.

"Sorry Lexi this is Talon. My umm.." I trail off not sure what to call us. I don't want to call him my boyfriend because he feels like more then that but at the same time we only just met.

"I am her boyfriend." He says walking forward and shaking her hand.

"Pleasure to meet you." Lexi says while eyeing him up and down. When she breathes in though her gaze hardens for a moment.

"Aunt Jenna would you and Abbi mind bringing the babies up to my room. I will be there shortly and want to get them ready for bed." I ask as I feel the tension in the room rise.

Abbi knowing whats going on quickly grabs Ellie up from her swing to bring her upstairs. Aunt Jenna follows her With Eli but eyes me with worry. I smile at her reassuringly hoping to hurry her aong.

Once I know she is out of ear shot I decide to get everything out in the open.

"Lexi I know you are a shifter and I know Adam was a shifter. I also know my children are shifters. I have only just found out." I say to her trying to get her attention off Talon.

"So who is Talon really to you Marie?" Lexi asks in a bit of a huff.

"I know we just lost Adam. My children lost their father and you lost your son and I am so sorry about that Lexi. I didn't realize I was a shifter until a couple days ago. My family was murdered by rogues. Talon is my mate Lexi."

Talon steps closer to me and brings his arms around my front holding me close. Its comforting having someone to lean on.

"So Adam wasn't your mate then? I was hoping I could convince you to move in with Richard and myself. We wanted you closer and to have the kids raised in a pack."

"Adam knew Yazmin showed up at the hospital. He made Abbi promise to get me and the kids into her pack. I am sorry Lexi. But we ardent going anywhere. You are more then welcome to visit whenever you like. Its an open door policy, and I will bring the twins to visit whenever you like." I reason with her. I see her eyes soften before filling with tears.

"My son really thought of that?" She asks as she sniffles a little. Talon walks around me to kneel infront of Lexi before taking her hands in his.

"I'm so sorry about your son. I am sorry he never got to be the father he wanted to be. You and your family are welcome on my pack lands whenever you like." Talon says to her softly.

"I think I may just take you up on that offer." She replies while smiling sadly at him and patting his cheek.

Just then I hear footsteps come down the stairs before Abbi appears.

"Your aunt is giving the babies their baths real fast. I may have told her about shifters and about why there was tension in the room. I had no choice though! She could feel it and wanted to know if Marie was making a mistake being with Talon. Besides her niece shifts into a kickass wold and her great niece and nephew will be too soon enough. She needed to know." Abbi says explaining herself. I feel like she is afraid of getting in trouble.

"Relax Abbi, Me and Marcus and our parents already decided on Jenna knowing the truth along with Maries parents. How did she take the news?"

"She seemed fine. I think she is still processing though." Abbi says timidly. I have never seen this girl act any other way then wild and crazy. To see her this worried worries me.

"Is she going to be okay?" I ask frowning. I didn't want my family to react badly to this.

"Yeah hun your aunt will be just fine. Abbi is what Marie said true? Adam wanted her in your pack?" Lexi asks hopefully.

"Yes ma'am. He said he didn't know what was going to happen and he wanted them in the safety of a pack. He was worried over what that girl was going to do. I think he knew he was going to die." Abbi says sadly looking at her feet.

"Well alright then. If it is what Adam wanted. Just know I plan on visiting often and expect visits in return." Lexi says sternly.

"Yes ma'am. I told you that you could be in the kids lives and I mean it. I wouldn't have it any other way. Although now you have more to share her with. I am pretty sure Joanne has been calling herself Mimi. Especially after they found out Talon is my mate." I tell her with a smile on my face.

"Oh please that was happening anyway. Just like Abbi calling herself Aunt Abbi. I am not worries as long as I can be a grandma too." Lexi says smiling softly and chuckling.

"I think that can be arranged. But if y'all wouldn't mind I would like to go check on Aunt Jenna." I say politely while looking towards the stairs. "Lexi feel free to stay in a spare room as it is too late to be traveling anywhere. Abbi you already have your own room so the choice is up to you." I hope to God Talon doesn't get upset with me basically kicking him out. But when I glance at him he looks amused.

"Throwing me out dearest? Don't I at least get a good-bye kiss?" He asks while walking over and grabbing my hand. Lexi and Abbi head upstairs as I follow Talon out onto my front porch. He closes the door then cages me in with his hands against the door. "Never be afraid of my reaction. I just want you to be safe and happy. I will leave tonight and let you have some time with his mom. I know she needs it and I also know you need time with your aunt. Text me when you are in your room alone. Okay?" Talon says while looking into my eyes. How did I deserve someone so soft and caring? He is entirely too good for me.

I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him close to me. I burry my nose in his neck and let his scent calm me. I sense him do the same and I plant a soft kiss against the mark on his neck. He growls against me and pushes me against the door as his body brushes mine in all the right spots. I lean back and look at him. His eyes are flashing amber and I know his wolf is present. It make me weak in the knees knowing how out of control I make him. I try to brush my lips against his softly but he is having none of that. He takes control of the kiss. He swipes his tongue in my mouth exploring as his hands run over my body. I swear I will combust if this continues. I moan and sigh into his mouth and grip his hair with my hands tugging it gently. He growls in approval. He breaks the kiss and steps back adjusting himself in his pants and clearing his throat. I know he can smell my arousal which is just turning me on more. I also know I will have to start keeping panties in my purse for these occasions.

"I will be by sometime tomorrow." He says when he finally gets a hold of himself.

"I will be here waiting." I watch him walk to his car and drive off before I go inside. At least now Aunt Jenna knows about me and Talon and I wont have to try to keep secrets. I didn't want to keep anything from her but I also didn't know how to say it. I head to my room to see Aunt Jenna sitting on my couch watching TV. Abbi must be in her room and Lexi in the spare room. I gingerly sit next to my aunt and wait for her to speak.

"I knew you were special girl, I just didn't know how much." She says softly as she turns to look at me. I start telling her all I know which isn't much but it is something. I tell her the way I feel about Talon and how its a little overwhelming. She listens patiently and is as understanding as she can be.

"I guess we will both be learning as we go." She replies reassuringly before hugging me close and leaving me with my thoughts. I guess that is all we can do at the moment. Is learn as we go.
